"Holiday Inn Greenville"
Enjoyable stay rooms were clean. We never really used any of the amenties except the beds. We did forget some food in the room that we wanted to take with us and called the hotel from traveling around town and the had it put aside for us to pick up when we got the chance.

"Ok but we miss the previous owners"
Pros: comfy beds, efficient AC but slightly loud, good shower, room appeared mostly clean, complimentary water bottles in room Cons: high fees made the nightly rate increase a lot, when we got to hotel they claimed we didn't pay enough to receive free breakfast but when I asked to speak to manager she agreed to honor what my hotels.com receipt said, the breakfast was not anywhere close to as good as what the previous owners-city hotel and bistro provided, the elevators were stinky We have stayed at this hotel a lot in the past 10 years but we will be reluctant to book again now that ownership is different

"Where is Starbucks?"
Still undergoing transition to HI. TVs not programmed, remote falling apart. Clean and comfortable. Restaurant/bar was fine. Wish they had coffee before 7:00 on weekends though. They also billed me again after I had already paid hotels.com. Waiting for promised refund.

"My Stay At City Hotel & Bistro"
My stay was pleasant. It could have been better if the odor from chemicals being used for remodeling had been better contained. Some type of ventilation should have been in place.

"Bugs"
We found 2 bugs in our room. When we killed the first one, I took it to the front desk, they bagged it and said they would call the exterminator and get back to us- never heard anything. When we found the second one later that day, we called the front desk and were told we would receive a call back but never did. We felt like we were being ignored and our bug situation was never resolved.

"Valentine's get away with friends"
We booked on line and was not aware that the hotel was undergoing construction so it was a little disappointing when we arrived with 5 other couples and found this out. Breakfast was good the next morning just a little displeasing since it was being served out of two adjoining hotel rooms instead of a dining room.

Very unsatisfied . nothing like the reviews. Had to go to the Hilton to eat breakfast. Also if I wanted a drink I had to go to the Hilton also. So next time that is were I will stay

"Stay somewhere else if you can!"
Room smelled funny, had to go get an air freshener. TV remote control did not work, hot water took 5 minutes to get to a hot level. No ice in the ice machine on my floor. Breakfast buffet food was cold.

"Outdated & Pricey"
After several stays, starting to realize that City Hotel is a bit pricey compared to some others. The TV in our last room was an older CRT-style (spoiled our daughters' plans for watching movies on our DVD player). The manager did mention an upcoming major renovation (which will probably drive the rates up even more). On a positive note, staff seems very friendly and the breakfast is great.

We stayed here the night we attended the Marine Corps ball. The staff was very friendly and even called our room roughly an hr after we checked in to see if there was anything we needed and to make sure the room was alright. Overall this is a very nice place to stay.

"Best hotel in this area for the price"
The hotel was right off of a main street and easy to find. There was plenty of parking even with a music event that was going on. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The air conditioning and heating worked well and was clean. Water in the shower was hot. Wifi was not bad, but kept resetting every so often. Most important was the buffet breakfast. This is a full/hot breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, your standard cold breakfast items (bagel, fruit, cereal, etc) and juices/coffee. Best breakfast for a hotel of this price. They use actual ceramic plates and real silverware. Wow.

"Clean and close to everything"
My room was clean. It was very humid when i checked in but it had a dehumidifier which cleared that up. It was then very comfortable. The hotel is close to a Walmart and there are several restaurants nearby.

"Great location for general shopping/visiting ECU."
A dated room but, the room was clean as was the bathroom. Plenty of towels, the bed was comfortable and the room was quiet. The bedside table clock would keep time but, was unable to be set for an alarm wake up. A small workout room was available and it provided a great, on the road , workout. A free breakfast came along with the stay that was adequate and substantial. I will come here again......price was extremely competitive.

The hotel is run down and smells like an ashtray. Breakfast was a joke and the staff was not 3 star quality. The room felt dirty, particularly the bathroom, and the bed felt hard as a rock.

"Waking up to roaches"
Everything was fine until the morning I was checking out and there was a cockroach in the middle of my room on the floor. You know what they say where there is one there are thousands. It's was just very disappointing for the price I paid.

"It's better than you would think"
With three kids at East Carolina University, we find ourselves in need of overnight accommodations quite often, and we usually stay at the City Hotel and Bistro. It is the closest hotel to the university, and while it is old and dated, it is always clean and the staff is very helpful. The only negative is that there is a slight smell throughout the hotel and dehumidifiers in every room, but there just aren't a lot of choices in Greenville. The bathrooms are always spotless and the beds comfortable, and those are the most important things to us.

While the hotel is convenient for ECU parents, it is definitely in need of updating. Our room spelled really bad, and the carpet was pretty worn. The bed was comfortable, though, and the service was great!

The cover charge night club thing at the bar area was a little sketchy for a Sunday night. Breakfast buffet was just OK. But they had everything we needed, it was clean, active, close to everything and we will be staying again!

"Not Enough Electric Outlets"
Very nice hotel...smells very clean and the room is beautiful. BUT, if you are techy or even have a phone for that matter, you need to unplug the microwave or fridge to charge it. I finally found a second plug behind the bed for my laptop.
