The location of the hotel is very good, however that was really the only plus. There are no hair dryers in the rooms, which I have never encountered in my life. Also there is only one thing of soap, which I guess is supposed to serve as shampoo and shower gel. I enjoyed my visit to Hotel Melantrich very much and loved that it was a two minute walk to the Astronomical Clock and Old Town Square and so close to just about everything you'd want to see in Prague. And only minutes away from the Mustek metro station. The only thing to be aware of is the hotel is in an apartment building so the entrance is a little […] strange especially on a Sunday when I arrived and the restaurant in their basement area is closed. The entrance was completely dark and the hotel sign wasn't lit up but I could see the flag above it. It's right after the Zebra Sushi restaurant which is easy to see when you get out of the metro. Anyway, don't get worried if the entrance is dark just walk down the short hall, open the wooden double doors and it will be light in there and then walk up the flight of stairs to a small flight of stairs (there is a large sign for the hotel just follow.) But I was nervous at first but it's really very safe once you realize it's a lobby entrance to a building with families and children and when the restaurant is open most days it's brightly lit. It can be a bit noisy being in the center of town and with the restaurant below but really the location and the hotel it self is great for travelers who are out much more than in. It's very clean and staff spoke English and very helpful. I would stay again. Read more

For the price, this hotel can't be beat. The location is prefect for everything from sightseeing and nightlife. Prague is a very walkable city. Walk a few blocks to Town Square or Wenceslas Square.

Better than we had expected. Entry is easy enough (ring the second button, 24-hour staff buzzes you in at once) and up the stairs. Room was very comfortable and pleasant, surprisingly spacious. My friend and I, having never been to Prague before, booked this hotel and were pleasantly surprised by what we found. The rooms we booked each had 2 single beds in them. As others have noted, there was no AC and the rooms were hot, but the windows did open. I can see why this would be unbearable in the summer, but during the fall it wasn't too bad. […] We were pleasantly SURPRISED to find Free Wi-fi. We were also pleasantly SURPRISED to find that this hotel seems to be located in the center of it all. Located near lots of shops, restaurants and close to the St. Charles bridge, we both felt that the location was safe and perfect. The hotel is also located only blocks away from the mustek subway stop, making getting to and from the train station easy. The staff was pleasant and spoke English. Typical "smaller" hotel, unlike the North American style ones. This hotel uses traditional keys to lock/unlock the room doors. Don't forget to lock the door again with the key after closing the door! No AC, no elevator it'd be tough in the summer but we were fine in October with the windows open. This hotel is very centrally located, just a block or so from both Wenceslaus square and Old Town Hall. If you want to be within walking distance to all of pragues famous attractions this is a great hotel to stay at to keep you close to everything. It co-located with a closed? music club and you need to be buzzed into access the hotel. The entrance is dark and fairly intimidating. A few lights would do wonders. The staff was great. Great location right between old and new town. Hotel was dated though and our room was stale and stuffy, but a decent size. Breakfast was decent with boiled eggs, sausages, cereals, breads, cheese and cold cuts. Price was okay considering the location, but I think it would be worth staying a bit further out next time.

Very friendly staff and great location. Room is basic but gives you what you need. Only problems are very thin pillows, being above a club that plays drum and bass until 6am and a weird breakfast mi of peppers, cucumber, lemon, cheese.. we didn't try it!

After reading other reviews about the entrace to this hotel I was prepared for a strange confusing entrance. It wasn't that bad and clearly signposted! Our room was on the other side of the building to the reception which worried me slightly in terms of security but it was fine and the main door locked which reassured me. The room was a good size and […] very clean. The bathroom was clean and had a lovely shower. Our room faced onto the main street but we weren't kept awake by noise in the evening. Our stay included breakfast which was a standard breakfast and was plentiful. The best thing about this hotel was the location. It was a 10 minute walk from Charles Bridge and just round the corner from the Astronomical Clock and Old Town Square. We walked everywhere and the location was just perfect. We stayed for 3 nights so for a short break it is great to be in the middle of everything and not worry about having to pay for transport everywhere. I would recommend this hotel. Read more

Everyone complains about the entrance (past the club entry), but we got lucky and the club was being renovated so we didn't have any troubles with any clientele/noise. The stairway up to reception isn't great, but everything else about the hotel is good, especially for the money. Breakfast was adequate, the room (double w/ ensuite) and bathroom were […] a decent size and while the amenities aren't brand new, everything is clean and works. Two single beds pushed together isn't ideal but wasn't a problem, and the windows were enough to let a cool breeze through so the absence of A/C wasn't an issue. only downside is that is no air conditioning in the rooms. So we have to open ventilation windows, so there is noise of the people on the street for all over the night. The hotel is a minute walk to the Astronomical Clock which is actually the old city heart.

The entrance to the hotel looks pretty shady, but once inside and up the stairs it is fine. The location is great - 2 minute walk from the Old Town Square. I would stay here if you want a cheap place in a good location and don't expect any luxuries.
