A hostel is a hostel so creaking bunk beds are still creaking bunk beds when people come in. But you absolutely can't beat the location for the price (1/2 block from the bus station; 1 block from the train station; 5 to 10 minute walk to trinity college (and 15 minute walk to just about anyplace in Dublin center). Very courteous and helpful staff, clean […] and efficient kitchen facilities for doing your own food--breakfast nothing to speak of (toast, cereal, juice, coffee, tea) but from a son who joined us after hosteling through europe for the summer, this is one of the best--would be all fives if this was just a review space for hostels (beds quite firm and comfortable by the way)--but if we could have afforded more of course sleeping with just our family instead of an additional six people would have been nice! The hostel is nice- it's located pretty close to the city center (10 minute walk), and it's big and clean. the rooms were good sized, there's a girl that comes in and cleans the shower and bathroom everyday, and the beds are generically fine. They don't provide towels, so be sure to bring one or 'rent' one. They do have continental breakfast (toast, […] cereal, coffee, tea, OJ), as long as you can wake up before 9:30. The staff is really helpful and friendly when you're brand new to Dublin and don't know what to do in town. there's a pub crawl and a walking tour that you can book through the hostel--both of which are really worth it. First, they will nickel and dime you to death, whether it is credit card transaction fees or a €2 charge per day to use a locker, plus €10 deposit. Lockers are basic security and shouldn't be extra. My experience may be unique, but it is worth the warning to other young female travelers. There was another resident looking at Xrated material on his computer and masturbating in full view of everyone in the lobby, including the ladies at the Jacobs Inn reception desk. While I realize this is not their fault, they also didn't take immediate action […] when I brought the situation to their attention. Instead of dismissing this potentially dangerous person from their hostel, they called the manager, who was off for the next two days, and considered that the end of their responsibilities. Since I did not want to share a room with someone who finds public masturbation acceptable, I had to pay extra to upgrade to a single room at the last minute. The single room was clean and safe, no frills but perfect for a traveler on a budget. Still, it concerns me that a perverted young man was staying in a room with other single young women. My biggest complaint would be the beds. They need some WD40 or something to stop them from creaking. I also did not like the fact that you have to rent lockers. Lockers should be provided free. Good location though.

We had no problems with the hostel at all, four of us stayed and felt so safe and comfortable in our room. The staff were helpful and friendly, telling us the best places to go and so accommodating. Such great value for money and would definitely recommend it, no problems whatsoever!

Jacobs Inn was cleaner than other hostels, and we were fortunate to have a washroom in our room. They are very organized, with a locker room, breakfast, key cards, etc. It was in a great location. My sister and I, both young women, stayed there a week. We were staying in a 4-bed dorm. In that time, we rarely had the same dormmate more than two nights, […] however each and every person staying in our room was an older male. We were uncomfortable, especially when some of them peed on the floor or came in at 2am and made no effort to be quiet, or continuously asked us intrusive questions. The hostel may be decent, but the guests are not. We did not have the option to stay in an all-girl dorm, or we would have taken it, but the hostel staff should have matched guests in a room more responsibly. Also, there was never enough towels for everyone in the room, which was part of what we paid for in getting a 4-bed dorm. This place is a hostel, but to a much higher standard than I ever expected. I booked a four bed room with a bathroom and it was extremely nice and clean with comfortable beds... great value for money. Dublin is very expensive if you are on a budget. Pints are more expensive than London and eating out is expensive also. However, the hostel has a small […] bar in the tv and pool room which serves pints for half price. They also have themed dinner nights, you get a meal and an alcoholic drink, 1/3 the price of a pub. The front desk also sells bus tickets to the airport at half price. All in all, they do a great job at making your stay in Dublin more enjoyable. And a must is the free walking tour of Dublin they offer. It is two and a half hours long, very well presented by nice young students, and is completely free, but they do earn tips. Read more

There is a free breakfast between 7:30-9:30, which is very basic. The people at the front desk are really nice and helpful. Nous avons réservés mon conjoint et moi au Jacobs plusieurs fois et jamais nous avons été déçu. Puisque nous réservions des chambres à 4 mixes, nous sommes troujours situé sur les étages moins achalandés, loin des groupes voyageurs. Nous sommes donc toujours tranquille. L'autobus vous dépose presque à côté de l'auberge et non loin de là on y retrouve […] le tramway et la gare de train ce qui est très pratique pour les déplacements. En plein coeur de Dublin, l'auberge ne peut être mieux situé. Les gens sont très accueuillants et serviables. Il y a toujours quelqu'un au ''front desk''. Les douches sont dans les chambres et partagés qu'avec ceux qui partagent la chambre avec vous, donc pas besoin de sortir de la chambre la nuit pour aller aux toilettes....donc moins de claquement de portes à toutes les heures aussi.
