Close to beach... good location... room was very small, when we got there we were told we got upgraded to a suite and the fact is, we barely could move around the beds in the room.. very small and street was very noisy, we were on the third floor and the windows were closed but the street noise was loud... Did not get very good sleep there..

Except for the small stall shower, this was a great find near the train station (the PRINCIPE station). The walk from here to the center were not difficult. It also can be very affordable if you book months in advance. Things are less expensive normally in Italy in August, but it was very hot (and humid in Genoa).

We only stayed in Genoa one night before moving on to Florence. The hotel was located close to the train station which is really all we needed. We walked around for some sightseeing and dinner. Hotel was clean and close to some good restaurants and the water. You only get the hotel's wifi on the ground floor or near the elevators.

I went to Genoa as a spot to visit in between Milan and the Cinque Terre. The Hotel Bellevue was a very convenient spot, right above the train station. Even with a window overlooking the staion, the windows do block out the noise, and the air conditioning kept the room comfortable on some warm days. They even provided me with some ice when I asked. The breakfast was fine, and the room was spacious. There was plenty of everything, and maybe not fancy, but good for getting your day started. With little known about what to see in the city, there were walking guides available, with tours for 1, 2 or 3 days. This was a great location for exploring, and Via Balbi right below the hotel brings you right to the heart of the city. Also, most of the ascensores (lifts) around the city were free, and you can get a great view of the whole town. The one right next to the building, goes up to the Castello D'Albertis, 26 flights up. The location is good. You can catch the volabus from the airport at Genoa to within 200 yards of the hotel for 6 Euros. Taxis are a rip off in Italy, that is why you see so many people dragging their roller suitcases, especially in Rome. The Hotel Bellevue was my "home base" for a week in Genoa. The location was perfect - several small resturants (Lupa) and typical Italian bars nearby. I selected it for it's proximity to the train station for my day trips. There is a bus from the Genoa airport to the train station, which was very convenient. The room was as expected - small but functional […] with a ballerina sized shower (good pressure and hot water however!). There is a small safe in a larger locking fridge that was perfect for storing netbook, etc. The staff was polite and very helpful, speaking several languages. The wi-fi in the lobby area encouraged new friendships with other travelers. They serve a great breakfast buffet with many selections. If however you are looking for luxury, you may want to look elsewhere as the Hotel could use some updating (the old cage lift does work!). Also, if you are a light sleeper, the trains do run all night (unlike our US system). However, if you are looking for a good value, this is a super place! Read more

I saw some pretty harsh reviews before I stayed there. I think these people have high expectations for a hotel that is priced as such. The carpet is dingy and old, but not dirty. The place probably had its last facelift in the 1980's - but aside from that - the bed was fine - the single room was far bigger than most in Italy - the location was superb […] - the staff was helpful. I would not hesitate to stay there again. At first I didn't like the idea of having to go to a common area to access the internet, but it turned out to be a great place to interact with others and just hang out. Be advised - NO ONE speaks English in Genova. Have a great time! The acquarium was one of the best I've seen. The Mediterranean part was unique and the most informative. Read more

Stayed at this hotel for two nights. Single room. Not very confortable. At least bed was clean. And I could take a hot shower. But good enought if you need to travel bt ferryboat. And it is located in the middle of the city.

The hotel was somewhat difficult to find because our GPS didn't have the building #1 on that street and we made a few circles around that hill. However, after locating it at 12:45am we were pleasantly surprised how nice the front desk clerk was and that rooms had AC and the bathroom was nearly as big as the room itself. Hotel doesn't have its own free […] parking, but there's a parking garage 50 feet up from the hotel where you can store your car with belongings for something like 20 euros a night. It closes at 01:00 am, so we were lucky to get there just in time. Windows of our room faced the railroad station on the bottom of the hill, but there were surprisingly little noise when you shut your windows tight. The other nice surprise was that the breakfast was included in price, unlike in every other hotel we rented in southern Europe. If you're on a budget, but do not want to stay in 1- or 2- star hotel, I wholeheartedly recommend Hotel Bellevue. Read more

Staff at the front desk were always friendly. I emailed in advance to get a quiet room, and was given one at the back on the top floor. Other than some occasional low grumbling of trains, the room was perfect for a short stay. Best aspect was the proximity to the train station. You can see it on the uphill road as you come out of the station. Climbing a bit steep with luggage, but you save on the taxi anyway! access to the room past a long corridor interuppted with steps at one point, so carrying luggage difficult until you reach the lifts. I had read previous reviews and therefore arriving was a little worried, especially as we were staying 10 nights. However this was unfounded... yes the carpet in public areas was a little "tired", but all rooms were big & had clean, laminated floors, great air conditioning, & the hotel had two large balconies with amazing views over the Christopher […] Columbus statue, architecturally striking Genoa Piazza Principe train station, the harbour & famous Il Lanterne (known as the "soul" of Genoa), with great views towards the sea. All of the staff were very helpful, especially the night porter staff who were real characters. They all also spoke relatively good English, certainly better than my Italian will ever be. If you are the side of the Hotel that has the train tracks below simply by closing the windows it blocks out 90%+ of the noise. The breakfast was hearty with yoghurts, cereals, meats, cheeses, breads, biscuits, croissants, fruit juices, several tea choices (Twinings so that was good), coffee. There are three great restaurants within about 50 metres of the Hotel. The train station access is obviously easy to travel the coast and locality, so the Hotel is ideally situated. By the way Genoa airport transfers to the city are best by Volabus from outside the terminal to the Principe train station. I loved Genoa as a wonderful tourist, cultural, and architectural base. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. The location is fantastic - right outside the main Genoa train station. There are good restaurants nearby, and you can walk to the palazzo and the old harbour area in a few minutes. Our room was comfortable and had fabulous views over the harbour and the city.

I stayed at Bellevue 2 days in the end of October 2011. The hotel is ok, but not more than that. A bit worn down, but affordable price and excellent location when you're travelling by train as I did. The railway station is just across the road and down the stairs. Breakfast is ok. All in all: you get what you're paying for :-)

Bellevue is a regular for me every time I am in Genova. I have tried other places as well but it's always a disappointment in this price range to go elsewhere.
