It was a very nice hotel with a great beach and pools. We stayed in the new Colonial Club adults only section and it is definetely the way to go. Room was great and the beach is beautiful! But when I say that the drinks and food were sub par, it's not because I am a picky eater, but it's because I am comparing it to the other all-inclusives that I have […] stayed at in the caribbean such as; Excellence Punta Cana, Sandals in St. Lucia, Sandals Antigua, and Secrets St. James in Jamaica. Those resorts truely are on another level as far as service, food/drink quality and when I go back the the DR somday, I will be going back the The Excellence. Also, they advertise that there is wired internet in the rooms for a fee, but in reality don't even have that capability. You must go to the club lounge, which was a bit dissapointing for me. The hotel was simply just OK. The air conditioning seemed to work sporadically between air and just the fan. There was limited help for this. The curtains did not close completely and a light was out. This was fixed. The bed sheet count seriously must have been 250. It made the bed seem uncomfortable. Our package included premium drinks. When we went […] to the bar to order them, they tried to charge us saying the bar manager changed the rules to the entire hotel policy the day before. It got resolved but it was just frustrating. Lastly, the buffet food was mediocre at best. The al la cart restaurants were better. We both love a good meal but nothing at the resort made us coming back for seconds. Upon our arrival to the Magestic Colonial our rooms which we booked were not available so we were updated to a Colonial Club room for the first night. With this upgrade we were given axcess to special dinning, clubs which included snacks, private pools and lounging areas as well as free Wi Fi. I am not sure the difference in price but this was one of […] the high points to our trip. We were able to keep these perks throught the trip but had to change rooms the next day. That incolved a 45 minute wait in the lobby with all of our luggage which was kind of inconvient. When we arrived to our first room it had dirty dishes in the cupboard which was specifically for dishes. We had no soap or towels either. The other couple which we stayed with had a flood in there room from a shower which did not drain and water ran from the bathroom to the bed. I would not reccomend a wedding here unless you want the entire beach watching. There is always something to do here! One day we left the resort otherwise we were always busy-there was a boxing fight one nights, yoga classes, spinning, a beach party. Positives: Colonial Club Upgrades French and Hibachi resturants The Beach and View Entertainment Everyday they bring to your room some type of food, sushi, chocolate covered grapes, wine. Fridge im room well stocked with water, soda, wine. Negatives: Room Changes Flood, No towels Food at Buffet Resturants states to taste the same after 3 days. We were at colonial club and it is was a wonderful experience overall. The majority of the staff are delightful and eager to be helpful, the hotel is beautifully maintained, the beach is magnificent and the pools lovely. A plus of the colonial club is free wifi in the club lounge. Negatives generally are the food is just so-so. It would be good if […] there were more lunch choices rather than just the buffets, and sandwich choices that did not include ham. There was no consideration for food allergies and onions were placed over most dishes, rendering them inedible for anyone who did not like or could not eat them. The open bathrooms have been discussed elsewhere and are weird esp if anyone wants to take a tub (jacuzzi) which is in the middle of the room. We also had a bad experience with our "butler" Lino, who registered us and then disappeared, did not deal with a serious leak in the room after being told of it and was never heard from again. We had read that others had really good butler experiences. I would also recommend free wifi in the rooms as well. It would make a more enjoyable and convenient experience. But a wonderful vacation can still be had at this hotel. Read more

Food tasteful, entertainment was great and our room was very charming, cozy and romantic, and if you are a member of the colonial club you get all the perks, it was really a dream vacation, thanks to the Majestic!!

My husband and I visited Punta Cana for the first time this January. We chose the Majestic Colonial ( The Adults Only Club section) based on hotel reviews and because our friends stayed at the sister resort Majestic Elegance. We loved the resort, everything you need is on site readily available. The resort is beautiful with amazing pools and manicured […] landscape with palm trees of course. The beach was gorgeous with plenty of chairs and palapas for everyone, and with a couple of bars right on it. There's always something to do on the resort because of the awesome entertainment team, anywhere from dancing lessons, to karaoke night to a Michael Jackson show. Also, we saw at least 3 weddings a day on the resort, and it seems people were enjoying this location for their wedding. I think the best thing about the resort is its staff. From the butlers to the housekeepers to the bartenders. Just to name a few: Alba , Elena and Ira in the Colonial Club were always so helpful and pleasant. Francisco,one of the butlers is a sweetheart and always checked to make sure we had everything we need. The bartenders : Nolberto, Arelis, and Santa were very sweet , friendly and made great drinks. Our housekeeper was great as well, she cleaned very well and always brought fresh flowers for the towel swan. The food was ok, with its up and downs. The best food was at the Supreme Buffet, Matsuri and the Rodeo Grill on the beach. We were very disappointed with the Taino and the French restaurant. Read more

Hotel room, pool and facilities is amazing. Joan (the person in charge to attend us) was a key peace on our pleasant period on this hotel. Clean and expansive...had to wait for 1.5 hours for room to be ready when we arrived...got upgraded to a 1 BDRM with an outdoor jacuzzi...nice! The resort was very well maintained and visually appealing. Upon arrival we were greeted with a snack and champagne reception and were provided with our personal butler. After checking in we were given a tour of the resort and our room. Our butler "David" spoke english well and was very polite. He promised to get us a few items that we needed but unfortunately […] this is where he fell short. We had to call 4 times (each time being assured the items would be sent right away) to get the missing items (another robe, additional pillows, hangers, etc.) and it took a full day before we received everything we requested. The housekeeping staff did a very good job and each day we received something 'special' in our room -- one day fruit, another day sushi, etc. which was nice. Our butler checked in just about everyday to make sure we were happy. After the initial delays, things went smoothly. The food in the restaurants was OK. I must say I was disappointed in the fresh veggies -- salad is something I normally enjoy each day while on vacation and I found that the lettuce lacked crunch and the dressings were awful. One other complaint I have is that not all the food was not labeled. Many of the servers in the restaurants don't speak even basic english which made communicating and having your needs met very challenging. You ask for water or sugar and they look at you and you wonder if they understood what you asked for...in many instances, they didn't even return. Read more

For the past 3 years we have been going to the Caribbean for the holidays. We go to a different location every year. We have been to Jamica, Belize, and now the Domician. Great hotel in a good location on the beach. The room was big, clean, and the bed was very comfortable. Also they have a pillow menu, get the pillow you want.(NICE!) Spent the week after Xmas here with my husband, we had a junior suite in Colonial Club section with Jacuzi tub. We were right across from the spa, short walk to the beach. I loved this hotel. It was great to have the Concierge club, made easy to grab a tea, drink or snack. The staff was extremely friendly. Everyone you met, even in passing was saying […] "Hola" I really enjoyed the fun, especially the salad bars, everything was fresh and tasty. All the resturants were good. I did have the tepanyaki which was a bit cheesy but fun to try once. French reservation restuarant was good, excellent Creme brulee. Steak house, the flank steak was the best. I brought some extra bottles of white and red wine as I was thinking that the wine would not be great at an all inclusive. But was surprisingly good. The Cava was abundant. Great drink waiter Service on the beach. Never had to wait. My husband did not like the local President beer. But if you put a couple of limes ( called limon here) it altars the taste and makes it very refreshing, sorta like a corona. I loved my Jacuzzi tub and used it almost every day. I also recomend getting a hot stone massage. Overall, we enjoyed our seven days and would recomend it for both couples and families. Read more

Check in was horrible! Way overbooked. Sent us to a hotel down road for the first night with 12 friends & family at this hotel! To try & make up for it they promised $200 credit toward servies such as spa & free internet. At check we were billed & we had to argue & present our letter that said the items were to be included, They told another couple […] they could have late check out, but, when they tried to use it they were told the hotel was booked & they couldn't! Get anything they promise in writing & don't lose it! All this meant losing out a day & a half of vacation to shuffle around between hotels, trying to get checked in at this one then being sent to three different places at the hotel they sent us to, waiting for cabs to & from hotels then being told our room wasn't ready for checking in when we arrived back here the next afternoon so then they were trying to put us in inferrior rooms than what we paid for. Arguing loud enough finally got us a room liked we booked. But, we know they booted someone else out of their reservation because there was a welcoming letter addressed to another couple with a plate of fruit. (which we enjoyed#. Lastly, almost none of the people working there seems to know English. It was such a hassle to ask anything. Our room had six bottles of conditioner #suppose to be two conditioners, two shampoo & two body gets). Hotel is depreciated and "breaking down." Hotel feels massive and food feels "massively produced." This hotel does not make its guest feel special. Property is nice, vast, good space. I stayed at hard rock last year which was a great place. But the staff here made the difference for me and my family. And I would prefer to come back here instead of spending more on service not as good. The onlY bad moment with service was getting a toilet fixed which took much of the day, but was fine after that.

Everything about this place is nice only on the surface. When you first walk in, everything looks clean and fancy. You walk into the restaurants, and the food looks delicious. Then you start living there and realize that the effort to make this place nice only went 1 layer deep. Every time I got a plate of food, I was hopeful, and then it tasted bad...every […] time. The aquatic activities center was very unorganized...we booked diving classes in advance, and when we showed up, they didn't have a dive instructor available for us. Kayaking was never available. This place really is spectacular and you can't help but wear a smile all day! Hadn't tried all-inclusives before and wasn't sure it would be our thing. Now we're sold on the whole idea. Took our 3 teenagers for 5 nights over Christmas. One room was upgraded to the Colonial Club due to a minor mix up which was a nice bonus with free internet in the […] club lounge and separate private pool/cabanas. The room looked great with a flat screen TV, huge walk-in shower, 4-poster bed, balcony looking towards the pools. Didn't want to leave. Tried four of the restaurants for dinner and had the buffet on the fifth night. Ranged from pretty good to excellent. The Christmas Eve buffet was simply unbelievable. Lunch buffets down near the beach were wonderful. Service was terrific. Loved being able to wander up to the bar and grab a frozen Pina Colada any time! The Animation team were very enthusiastic with games by the pool, contests, zumba etc. The theater has very comfortable seats and the evening entertainment was OK except we had the Michael Jackson show twice. The disco, pool tables and late night burger/pizza snack bar were all hits. But the best features of the resort were the magnificent pools and beach - plenty of chairs, shade if you wanted it, beautiful sand. Volleyball nets and inflatable slides (one day) capped the beach activities. Never left (or even thought about leaving) the resort. Finally used Julio at Dominican Quest for transfers - very reliable. Read more

The bartenders at this place are grumpy. The staff in general at the restaurants, front desk etc are helpful and pleasant. It is a kid friendly resort with lots of activities that keep you engaged.
