Renaissance Wien - Vienna

Not convenient for tourists - but a reasonably-priced hotel for business. Great breakfast. Quiet location. The "air" in the room basically moves around the hot air - but not a big deal. Did not see the pool. This is a Marriott.

SPA and swiming pool is really small , especially sauna. Steam bat was not in function, staff is not interested for the work. There is no bar in the room, guests must buy stuff on reception.. Not recomend to choose this hotel.

This hotel needs to be updated; our room was rather tired with worn carpeting, shabby wallcovering and furniture. The bathroom was clean but the chipped tiles made it appear dingy and dated. The room was overly warm even after turning the heat off. Opening the window helped cool the room but the street noise was too loud to leave the window open all […] night. The lack of in room free internet and only 30 minutes of free internet in the lobby per day is a big negative. The hotel is located very conveniently located to the U4 and for visiting the castle but not much else. Few restaurants in the vicinity or any other retail option. Underground parking on site is a plus but expensive. If we visit Vienna again we will most definitely stay in the city proper. Read more

The hotel is not in the middle of old town, but you can take subway. You can walk to the palace, a must see. There is nothing else around the hotel. Hotel parking is pricy.

I'd read other reviews of this hotel as having a great location right across the street from the Vienna Metro but with OLD furnishings. That says it all -- it was right across from the Metro while the furnishings in my room were old in style, where the chair seat was ragged. It was the worse Marriott room I've ever seen. It was so-o bad that I assumed […] Marriott had just bought it, was refurbishing and bringing it up to Marriott's standards and just hadn't gotten to my room. Not so -- I was told it's been owned by Marriott since the 1990's. The lobby was attractive and modern. Furnishings in my room could have been left on the street for trash pick-up before being swiped and pit in the room. Everything was perfect. Great breakfast. Close to Schonbrunn Palace and Gardens (10 minute walk, for real). 20 paces out front door is a great inexpensive place to eat. The U-station is just across the street. Airport shuttle arrangement was good.

We stayed here 2 nights and have nothing but praise for this hotel! First, the location is great......across the street from an U-bahn station ( 1 stop to Schonbrunn and 2 stops to the Naschmarkt and approx. 15 min. to Stephansdom ). The service at the hotel was great, the room clean and very comfortable AND air conditioned! It has a wonderful roof top pool and do try the signature drink "Wiener blut" in the lounge. The look of this hotel is modern 70s and it is not in a very nice part of Vienna, but the metro line gets you downtown quickly. The appearance of our room was fine and we were lucky to get a quiet one that didn't face the street. The beds were comfortable, but every night we woke up with dry throats and sore noses because for some reason the air was […] so so dry. The food in this hotel comes out of a can and is absolutely awful, so it doesn't matter that the breakfast is included in the price, because most of what is offered is inedible. It is a crime to have such horrible pastries in Vienna, where they are typically delicious. Another thing that I could not stand was that the hotel charges extra for internet access. This left another bad taste in my mouth (in addition to the processed and dried out breakfast). My wife used the pool and sauna while I was at a conference being held in the hotel. The locals in the sauna were very mean to her, telling her that she could only come into the sauna if she were completely naked. While this may be the custom in Austria, this is supposedly an international hotel, so the management should know that foreign guests are being harassed. As long as someone is sitting on a towel in the sauna, whether they are naked or not should not be an issue. One compliment: the staff were pretty kind at this hotel. This hotel tries hard but is just filling shoes. For the money you pay, you would do better to rent a private apartment with a kitchen. Read more

This is an 80's type hotel, which will serve your purposes for standard, base accommodations in the fringe of Vienna. Very convenient to the U4 subway stop (access is a little cheesy) which will take you everywhere. Courtyard rooms overlook this massive fire escape scaffolding system which is unsightly, but probably a good thing. My husband, son and I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights and really enjoyed our stay. We were greeted by an extremely helpful receptionist, who immediately made us feel welcome. The room whilst not huge, was adequate and the hotel was pleasant. The cost of drinks at the bar is somewhat pricey (eg 6 euros for a 125ml glass of wine!), but the bar area […] is pleasant and comfortable. There is a small pool on the top floor, which we used. (showers by the poolside, but none in the changing rooms, which also service the gym.) The U3 underground line has a stop directly across the road, which is ideal for getting around. The hotel was ideally placed, accross form the ubderground. The staff were very helpful and breakfasts were superb. The air conditioning left something to be desired, making the room very hot overnight. My friend and I were amazed at how beautiful this hotel was for the price we paid. It's out of town but there is a metro stop 2 minutes away so you barely notice. It's about 10 mins walk to the palace from here. The staff were very helpful in recommending things to do around Vienna as well as organising our tour in Salzburg. Highly recommended!

It is really quick to get to many areas of Vienna by subway, and even at 11pm at night it felt safe. We used the Hotel airport transfer service 35 euro, well worth the money after a delayed flight due to storms the driver was waiting with a friendly smile and whisked us off to the hotel.
