Rooms were on the small side, but packed all the necessities. WiFi speed was slower than average, but wires connection was satisfactory. Great location across from the Plaza. Comfortable bed and good amenities. Overall, great value for the price.

This is one two hotels I use when travelling to shanghai, the Purple Mountain on the Pudong side. I've stayed in other hotels at time when space or the rate of the Purple Mountain makes it tough to book, but otherwise this is my hotel of choice. I have stayed at the Purple Mountain a number of times and have always been satisfied. The only negative comment I have is that for business purposes the lighting in the room is lacking for doing work at the desk in the evenings - daytime is fine - you can open up the shades and get plenty of light.

42 story hotel in an unbeatable location near the financial district in Pudong. I chose this hotel primarily for convenient access to the subway line. The Century Blvd subway line is literally less than a 5-minute walk from the hotel entrance. Very pleasant stay, except the last day bad experience with taxi which referred by the lobby staffs to airport.. We not only over charged without using meters and also the driving style was totally not acceptable and dangerous with high speed chasing. The hotel has to do something.

The hotel is nice near to Shiji Avenue metro station, a convenient hub to many three lines of the public transport system. Shanghai New Exhibition center is just two stations from there which makes it very convenient if you are in the city for business. Even tought it is not the most appealing area of Pudong there is a small mall in front of the hotel […] and Pizza hut and Starbucks nearby in case you are in the mood for western food. The only issue we had during our stay was that medical assistance was terrible, my wife get a little sick while I was out of the hotel on business meeting and the person in charge of this matters barely could speak english, the hotel didnt have such a simple thing as blood pressure tester and after tried to communicate with the personal we had to get back to the reception to get info on a hospital nearby, fortunately my wife gets better but I was concern about how could they react in case of a more complicate situation. This is a beautiful hotel and the location is great. There is a subway station close and traveling is easy from here. However, it is poorly managed and the staff, while nice, are also very poor. Their English is very limited and everytime I asked for information, they either didn't know or gave me the wrong information. I was visiting in December and […] complained that the heater was not working, twice they came to my room and said that it works because air is coming out, but I told them I don't want cold air to come out, I want hot air. It was freezing. Finally, after four days I had a warm room. I asked the information desk for directions or how to get different places, they just told me to take a taxi. I asked about local restaurants and bars, they said they didn't know, just use the hotel bar. I wonder if it was a lack of information or English. On my first day I paid for the executive package upgrade. The guy at the desk said it includes free breakfast, happy hour, mini bar in my room, access to the gym and other benefits. I asked him "The mini bar in my room is free?" and he said "Yes". I was surprised but pleased. Upon checking out I was charged for the mini bar at a rate of $10 per beer when these beers are only $1 at the store. Every bit of information provided by their staff was wrong. This is such a beautiful hotel, it is a shame that the management is so poor. For my future trips to Shanghai I will be using a different hotel for sure. Read more

Great option for stay in downtown Shanghai. Super convenient location. I was able to walk a short distance with my luggage to take the train all the way to PVG airport. Service was great. Breakfast was amazing. Would stay here again!!

Purple Mountain is an attractive, well-run hotel with good service. I liked being so close to the #2 subway line, which goes both to Pudong Airport (and to the MagLev station) and to People's Park and Nanjing Road. I would happily stay there again.

Overall the hotel is fantastic. I stayed in a beautiful room on the top floor. I thought it was very reasonably priced for what I got. Staff were very friendly - and they even gave me a free limo ride to the airport because I stayed more than 7 nights. Mall next door had lots of food options, but be prepared to walk for a while because most of the food […] is very exotic with limited English descriptions. Hotel restaurant wasn't bad either but the staff there don't speak English all that well in case you want to know more about what you're ordering. This is an excellent hotel. Located in Pudong, which is across the river from the Bund and Nanjing Road but very easily accessible by metro - just 2 stops. There is, however plenty to see on the Pudong side of the river. Everything is new and the buildings, which seem to get higher every year, are awesome. The world financial centre building is only […] one stop on the metro (Dongchang Rd) and is well worth a visit if you have a head for heights! If your stay is over several days then a day exploring Pudong is an absolute must.The hotel is easily accessible from Pudong Airport. Take the Maglev - 8 minutes at 430km per hr and then take the metro (green line 2) to Century Avenue and the hotel is 2 or 3 minutes walk. The metro is very easy to navigate and is all colour coded, also much less expensive and much safer than taking a taxi. If you do take a taxi make sure you have your destination written in Chinese characters and hope you can find a driver who can read. If you book an executive room you have access to the executive lounge, where complimentary food and drink is served in the early evening, plus snacks; tea and coffee all day. We would definitely recommend this hotel for comfort; service; cleanliness; value and location. Read more

This is my third times staying at Purple Mountain and I am very happy with the hotel. It is very celan and everything is complete. The staff is very helpful and attentive. The only problem is that the breakfast is not included with my stay and the cost of the breakfast in the hotel is too expensive.

This is a beautiful hotel in the financial district of Shanghai. It is very clean and moden. One drawback was that there was only wifi in the lobby bar and we were advised that we could not just sit and use the wifi, we had to buy a drink. There was wired internet access in the rooms but this is no good with Iphones and Ipad. I think for the price […] of this hotel wifi is essential throughout. The hotel is very very close to subway (Line 2) , but an hour from the main railway station. You can get to either Airport on Line 2 so it is very handy. The standard rooms are very small but comfortable. Short walking distance to Starbucks, western restaurants and shops. This is good because the food and drinks in the hotel restaurant are way overpriced. The service in the hotel is good.

もう１０回以上利用しています。元高の影響もあり、日本円で１万円以上になりました。中国では相当良いホテルの値段になりますけど、まあその分の価値はあったかなと思います。上海ですし。地下鉄の複数路線が乗り入れる世纪大道駅が徒歩５分。地下鉄移動可能な人にはお勧めです。タクシーも通常は数台待っているので、ホテル目の前から乗車可能。ホテルの食事も良いですが、目の前にある９６广场には多数のレストランがあり便利。フロントには、少しの日本語を話す方も居ますが、基本は英語。まあ中学英語程度で行けます。部屋は中国基準だと少々狭いですが、何も困りません。清潔です。ウォシュレットあれば完璧ですね！掃除も丁寧だと思います。部屋からの景色は向きによります。东方明珠方面だと、高層ビル群が見えますが、天気が悪い事も多いのでね […] ・・・（笑）基本は高層階なので、見晴らしは良いです。空港も、浦东，虹桥の間ぐらい。どちらも便利です。やはり地下鉄移動出来るかたにはお勧めしたいです Read more
