This little hotel has location, location, location! It is less than 5-10 minutes walking distance to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Piazza Navona, & Tempolo Adriano. It is about 15-20 minutes from the Coliseum, the Forum, and Vittoria Emmanuelle, around 25-30 minutes from Piazza del Popolo, and a half hour from the Vatican. Seconds away from the main artery Via Del Corso, you can’t get a better location for a more reasonable price. The front desk staff is wonderful and Tomosso in particular will not hesitate to recommend the best restaurants and tell you how to get to all the sites within Rome. He recommended fabulous restaurants and mapped out a walkable itinerary of sites daily for us. If you don’t care to walk, the hop on hop off bus is two minutes away. What really sets this hotel apart is the 5th floor outside deck with a panoramic view which is used for breakfast in the morning and a possible night cap at night. What a way to start and end a day. It was beyond gorgeous and really a delightful highlight to a memorable stay in Rome. The rooms are big enough to accommodate two easily and are clean and neat. The only difficulty I encountered was that I was unable to connect to Wi-Fi but instead used the downstairs computer. Some of the rooms on the upper floors are only accessible by a short stairway which is difficult with heavy luggage. Other than that, our stay was perfect and I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

We did not get information that payment by card was not accepted. The breakfast was poor, bread from yesterday, cerials too sweet. The juice was more like lemonade than fruit-juice.

Had a great experience. Our triple room was clean and bed very comfortable, including pillows. 40 inch hd tv with all the sky channels with the options to switch to English language. Filled a form with time and choices for breakfast . Arrived on time and plenty of food. ( Italian style breakfast) . Front desk nice and helpful. Near American embassy, hard rock cafe' , villa borghese park( very nice!) . Would stay there again and reccomand it to friends and family

Room was so small that we could barely walk around the bed and there were no drawers in which to put clothes. The buffet breakfast, however, was outstanding and the location very convenient. Front desk staff could be friendlier. The room was much smaller than the photo for that level of accommodation
Location.
Set in an 18th century villa, the Grand Hotel Gianicolo is located on Gianicolo Hill with views over the Vatican, two kilometres from Rome's historic centre. Just 400 metres away, the Passeggiata del Gianicolo is a hilltop terrace offering views across the city, and the historic Trastevere district, with its bars, restaurants and lively piazzas is within one kilometre. Rome Fiumicino Airport is 25 kilometres (15.5 miles) away.

Guests can start the day with buffet breakfast each morning, and enjoy drinks and snacks throughout the day in the bar or al fresco in the gardens. La Corte Degli Archi - Located in the villa’s courtyard, the restaurant has preserved the original pavement and murals on the walls. The restaurant serves Italian dishes and wines and has al fresco dining in summer. Open for lunch and dinner.
Each morning a buffet breakfast is served on the terrace located on the 4th floor. Views of the city of Rome and Vatican.
The hotel can arrange for rented scooters to be brought to the hotel. Gianicolo Park (300 metres away) and Villa Pamphili Park (one kilometre away), offer paths for walking and jogging.

Across the River Tiber, Trastevere is a well-established ‘boho chic’ quarter, full of local character. The patchwork of tiny, cobbled streets houses many bars, good restaurants and buzzing nightlife spots. There is also a treasure trove of medieval churches. In its own piazza, the beautiful Santa Maria in Trastevere has shimmering golden mosaics and was probably Rome’s first Christian basilica, founded in 222 AD.

The staff at the Grand Hotel del Gianicolo hotel were extremely unhelpful during our stay. The phone in the room did not work, there was no hot water (only tepid) and the internet service was sporadic at best in the room. The room was small and dark. The hotel is outside the normal city limits, which the reviews did not point out, so there is an additional […] 10 euro charge on any taxi ride to the hotel. With a outstanding view of Rome a 3 minute walk from the Hotel, it makes lots of sense to stay here! Additionally the pool area is a great place relax...you are on vacation...you do not have to see every Church or ruin in Rome! "In the middle of Rome"
We were within 30 minutes walking distance to all of the traditional Roman "must see" sites (Vatican Museum, Coliseum, Forum, ruins, castles, shopping districts). Lot's of hills to navigate, so don't try this if you are out of shape! The hotel was a great little place to call home at the top of a hill (which meant the walk home was always uphill every […] time!). At the end of our stay we had a “tax surprise” we have to pay the council of Rome city for every night we spent there which was not mentioned before at any way. The staff had limited to no idea about English they even mixed our order of well done Meat steak by chicken legs of some kind.

"Nice Hotel"
We had a very pleasant stay and would recommend the hotel. A couple of minor detracting things were a lack of a welcome pack giving information about the hotel and its surroundings and their restaurant is not open for evening meals and there aren't very many local ones within a short stroll.
"Beautiful boutique hotel with best views in Rome"
We had 3 nights here as part of our honeymoon and were highly impressed. The bed is the most comfortable we've ever slept in, the room was nice and quiet and the whole ambience of the hotel is just fantastic. The pictures on the website are accurate, the views are quite awesome.

"steep climb back to hotel"
friendly hotel in a good location with lovely views on way down to city centre. Free tea and coffee never available due to no milk, water or cups! Breakfasts dull.
"Rome's little gem"
The Hotel was well positioned in a lovely part of the city, far enough out from any crowds and city noise but close enough to walk to all the main attractions. The real delight was having a good size and well maintained pool to cool of in at the end of a days sight seeing, sheer bliss! The staff were most accomodating and gave excellent local knowledge […] and advice. The hotel rooms were more than adequate and the breakfasts were of an excellent standard. "One of the only hotels in Rome with great pool"
The rooms are a bit small and dark especially if you need an extra bed, but ok for the price and near to the Vatican. The pool area is great! However its a bit out of the way for eating out and the hotel has no restaurant..
In Europe, the rooms compared to North America are smaller. Public transportation is very efficient (Bus 75 and 44). This hotel is very well located, centralized between The Vatican (walk of 30 minutes or less, downhill) and the Coliseum and other main tourist attractions. Breakfast is included and is very attracting and tasty. Wifi was avaiable in […] the lobby and the breakfast area but not in our room. The staff was great. We were there in January. At arrival at the airport, the first taxi driver asked for 85 Euros to the hotel. After checking around, it dropped to 50, then 36 Euros. Be prepared to deal in Italy, for everything, for taxi drives, in restaurants and even street vendors. We had a great time in Roma. Temperature around 12 degrees Celsius (56F). No waiting for tourist attractions except for The Vatican (45 minutes). Read more

We liked the location with walking distance to a lot of sights and right on the dorstep to Trastevere. The breakfast is great and the bathrooms had a good shower facility. Decor is kind of dated, but very tratditional.

This hotel is in the most beautiful suburb of the city, 20 mins downhill walk to the Vatican, surrounded by parks and atop a hill that gives breath-taking views of the city from a viewpoint only 5 minutes walk away. Plus it has a large and clean pool area to take a dip, relax on a lounger and read your guide books to plan your next sight-seeing day...and […] the best bit is by the pool it doesn't feel like you are in the city. We stayed here for a week the staff are very helpful the rooms are great plenty of hot water and a bath there is a restaurant down stairs with a nice outdoor garden area to sit in.breakfast was included and it was great with a good selection from the buffet cereals juices fruit meats and cheeses pastries and more. Yes it is on a hill but it's 5 min […] walk to the best view of Rome night or day and 10 min to the restaurants in town and a 115,870 or 44 bus gets you back up the hill and the bus stop is right at the hotel . It was good to have a garden area sit in for a relaxing afternoon free tea or coffee and no traffic noise in a quite area. We will be back on our next visit to Rome Read more

Trevlig läge på en höjd strax utanför restaurangkvarteren i Trastevere med uppförsbacke hem. Rummet var rent och mysigt, men ganska litet. Stort plus för att vi hade badkar. Frukostbuffén var riktigt bra och personalen mycket trevlig och hjälpsam.

Nydelig område med fin spasertur nedover til byen (ca 30 min å gå til Vatikanet og ca 30 min til byen). Buss rett utenfor døren. Fantastisk restaurant rett rundt hjørnet, og hotellet er omringet av flotte parker. Vi hadde et fint opphold på hotellet, selv om det var veldig lytt til de andre rommene, og sengene var ganske harde. Det var koselig med hagen og bassenget utenfor. Betjeningen var hyggelig og serviceinnstilt. Redelijk goed hotel, netjes en schoon, mooi zwembad, helaas te kleine kamer en te ver lopen van het centrum. Het hotel ligt op hoogte, dus teruglopen naar het hotel is vermoeiend! Omgeving is rustig en veilig.

Det har helt igennem en positiv oplevelse at bo på Gianicolo. Der har ikke været noget at sætte en finger på. Og komme hjem på hotellet efter en varm dag og springe i poolen er KANONdejligt. Bra hotell nära trevliga restaurangkvarter och även gångavstånd till flera sevärdheter. Även en park i närheten, perfekt för joggning eller promenad i lugn och ro. Trevligt poolområde, allt rent och fräscht. Rummen städades mycket noga och de flesta i personalen var väldigt trevliga och hjälpsamma.

La lumière du plafond dans notre chambre ne s'éteignait pas, pas de personnel sur les deux jours pour réparer ce problème. Service de restauration à la piscine extrêmement long. Magnifique piscine, mais ouverte aux gens de l'extérieur, beaucoup trop de bruit, sans intervention du surveillant. Cet hôtel n'est pas digne d'un 4 étoile.

Hotell er er greit utgangspunkt for å bo i Roma. Ligger nær Trastevere-området med mange restauranter. Har eget svømmebaseng, som kan være en stor fordel på varme sommerdager. Bra frokost. Ligger på en høyde, slik at det kan bli en del bakker å gå, men det er greie bussforbindelser.

Litt slitt men fint hotell med hyggelig betjening. Like utenfor går gratisbuss som tar deg ned mot sentrum eller videre mot Vatikanet. Taxi fra sentrum for under 10Euro. Fint basseng men en må bruke noen sløve badehetter for å få badet. Like ved ligger en nydelig park som har utsikt over Roma.

Hotellet ligger lidt uden for Trastevere på Roms 8. høj. Busser til Piazza venezia og Peters kirken kører lige rundt om hjørnet. Gåafstand til Roms dejligste udsigtspunkt på Gianicolo højen.Hotellet er dejligt med skøn have hvor man kan sidde og nyde kaffe etc. fra baren. Rigtig god service og meget velholdt hotel. O hotel é maravilhoso, cheio de mimos para o hóspede. Fica em uma região encantadora de Roma. É para os viajantes que querem curtir a cidade sem ficar ao lado da correria. Não fica perto do metro...é distante do centro...mas está pertinho de uma das vistas mais deslumbrantes de Roma, perto de vários restaurantes. Trastevere é um luxo! "Excellent hotel with great service"
We stayed at Grand Hotel Gianicolo for a week and we had an excellent stay. Great service with friendly and very smily personel. We especially loved the swimming pool area where we had a nice cooling swim after touristing the city all day. The best holiday we had in years - would recommend to others!

Vi skulle tilbringe de sidste 5 - 6 dage af vores sommerferie i Rom. Det var derfor vigtigt, at der var pool, som vi kunne slappe af ved, efter dagens mange kulturelle oplevelser. Hotellet har en fin beliggenhed på Gianicolohøjen i gåafstand til det hyggelige Trastevere-område med mange restauranter. "Skønt hotel"
Rigtig dejligt hotel, med lækker pool, rigtig sød og dygtig servicemedarbejdere og tjenere. Hotellet ligger perfekt i gåafstand til det indre Rom, med alle seværdighederne. Rigtig smukke omgivelser, som bliver passet og plejet.

Vi kom med tog til Roma og vi tok buss 75 fra stasjonen til hotellet. Veldig enkelt å komme seg rundt om i Roma med buss. Hotellet var fint med et flott svømmebasseng. Très bel hôtel, chambre un peu petite mais très propre. Nous avons apprécié la piscine après les journées de visites. Le restaurant de l'hôtel affiche cependant des prix excessifs. Un peu éloigné du centre de Rome mais ligne de bus à proximité.

Hotellet lå 5 - 10 min med buss fra Vatikanet. En bussbillett kostet 1 euro og du kan kjøre ubegrenset i 75 min. på alle ruter så man kommer seg til de fleste severdighetene i Roma på en billett. De selges forøvrig på kiosker og avis/blad kiosker. det er bratte bakker fra hotellet og ned til sentrum. Har siste buss gått ta taxi. Ellers er hotellet utstyrt […] med basseng.
