Its not a luxury experience particularly if you stay in the fares which are old but the location and people make up for it. Just returned after 8 nights at Iririki where the weather was great. Stayed in a Garden Fare which I found suited us being one adult and one child. This room was close to the restaurants. Breakfast was very good. The room was a bit of a distance to the big pools but a van would often pass and give us a ride. Iririki was a fabulous place to spend our Honeymoon, we stayed in a delux ocean view apartment. The view was breath taking and the spa on the balcony was just perfect, with a fridge and cooking equiquipment we had the option to cook if needed. The best thing about iririki was that we didn't need to go off the island to snorkell, to swim at a beach, […] jet ski or watch traditional entertainment such as singers or fire dancing. To watch there shows didn't cost us any additional. If we were staying at a different hotel we would have to pay extra to see these shows. The buffet brekkie was great, something for everyone and very fresh. We looked forward to eating brekkie, all the food on the island is great and desently priced. With three locations to choose from, we eat at all of the and it was wonderful each time. The staff are truly wonderfu, each with a smile on their face and greeting you always. If we every needed help they were overly enthusiastic to help us. There's a mini bus that drives around the island so if your not up for the walk back to your hotel room there's always that option. The boat that takes you from Iririki to the main land runs 24hours, with security always at the jetty. This made it so convenient to stay out late on the main land. Iririki Island is a nice place to stay and a special place in Vanuatu but there are some problems. Considering the room rates are as high or higher than some 5 star offerings we've stayed at in Australia it was disappointing. It could be excellent but falls down in a few places. Facilities are aged and not kept well. Staff are laid back to the point […] where drinks sit on the bar for 15 minutes before being served. I sent back a few as all the ice was melted. Everyday something was missing in our room. Not stolen, just missing, like towels, bath mats, pillows, tea or coffee refills. I got sick of asking for them. It didn't help that the phone didn't work. Nor did the TV properly. The air-con remote was missing the whole time too. That was the only thing they remembered I'd asked for too. I'd say it is a 4 star hotel running on 3 stars at the moment. Nothing was too much trouble for him, including organising a change of rooms (my sister has a mobility problem), change of return flights and an extra night's accommodation at short notice. we are a familly of five, one 15 year old and one 4 and one 3 , the kids club was absolutely fantastic we dropped kids of at 10 am and picked up at 3pm, this made our holiday a lot more enjoyable for all, the staff at kids club were great especial May lIng. Iririki resort is very tired & in need of maintenance. Whilst the staff were friendly most of the times they lacked the standards I expect. More often than not our wine arrived after our food. The wine list had a reasonable selection however during our stay the better wines we selected were not available. We were there for 16 days so plenty of time […] to restock I would have thought. One sunday I asked for a Mojito, sorry no limes or lemons!! There was not one single day that we had a full set of towels. Only on 2 days did we have 2 towels a bathmat a hand towel & a face washer. The rest of the time it was only towels & occaisionally a bath mat. We complained regularly to no avail. I asked to speak to the duty manager & watched him for 30 minuted avoid me & then disappear. Finally I tried to ring the General Manager at least a dozen times, he was never there. The cleaning staff left the balcony door unlocked in our Fare on at least 3 occassions. Pathways very poorly lit. Mini bar only restocked on request. Service is very very slow and not pro-active. Sure we are chilled out on a holiday, but when I want a drink by the pool I want it within 1/2 an hour thank you. They were not flat chat, bar service very poor. Gym equipment was broken and only repaired on our request. The guest services man was not knowledgable & unfriendly. When I requested an in house movie guide (supposed to be in the room) I was told to go to reception, quite some walk away. I politely declined. Read more

Was a little apprehensive about this resort having read a few negative reviews. But I am very pleased to say that the majority of reviews are correct and this is a great place to stay. We took our 3 year old daughter and had a fantastic time. As everyone says the staff are amazing and in fact we found most of the locals in Vanuatu to be very friendly. We […] stayed in an Island Fare and found the room to be clean, serviced daily, and had everything we needed, fridge, tea & coffee making facilities, safe. Ok the tiles in some parts of the bathroom could have been a bit tired but overall it was clean and had a great shower which is all you need when you are on holiday. Were not after pristine Sheraton style but something more relaxed as four star should be. Great resort with lots to do but also in very handy location to pop across to Port Vila for lunch/dinner which we did most days. Other recommendations for Vanuatu would be to eat in the markets. Food good, fresh and cheap 400vtu ($6NZD) Food at hotels and most tourist restaurants are very expensive $40NZD for main. Supermarkets in Port Vila have good selection of wine which is much cheaper than hotels and between supermarket and local markets you can buy anything you need especially if self catering. Read more

Having just returned from a 7 night stay at Iririki both myself and my partner were really disspointed with the room and the service. The rooms are really run down with cracks all over the wall, repair needed in the bathrooms and generally dusty and unmaintained. The rooms were not cleaned properly and we had to complain twice as they forgot and came […] to clean at 4pm at which stage we had no clean towels left to shower with before going out. The worse was that they allowed 3 of the hotel's cats into the main dining area around breakfast and they would come up & start eating food off the floor and lick cultery dropped by people. This was really unhygenic but the staff seemed to not have a care in the world. We hadn't brought towels for the pool and there were never enough for guest. While I understand things operate on island time the staff were quite unhelpful and didn't seem to really care. Not a place I will recommend to others or be returning too! Great, friendly staff that always endeavour to help with anything you need, just remember to speak more slowly than usual as the language difference can be an issue if you don't listen and speak carefully. We did not have a problem with it overall though. Excellent food and happy hour drinks and nibbles were a highlight on the deck over looking the […] sunset. Breakfast choices in Michener's Restaurant had great variety and the fresh fruit and eggs-made-to order by Chef Sam were delicious. Don't be in a rush, as they work on "Vanuatu time" which means you simply have to relax and the drinks and food will come. Cocktails and food were more expensive than we expected but cheaper than in Australia! The hot stone massage was INCREDIBLE! Snorkeling at Snorklers cove was amazing and the kayaking was brilliant. Swimming pools were heavenly, while the games room and tennis courts entertaning. The ferry runs 24hr so you can go back and forth to Port Vila anytime you like and security is always present, not that it is necessary at all. Nothing was too much trouble on Iririki. We stayed at beautiful Iririki Island for 7 nights (Mar 2012) and had a wonderful, wonderful time! We went as a couple, but will definitely return with our children one day - the island is jam packed with great things to do to take your busy mind away. The best features of the island and the resort were the breakfast, the pools (many of the other […] resorts surprisingly, don't have pools! And in that awesome Vanuatu island heat, YOU NEED IT!) - most importantly, the people and staff...we felt like we were leaving family behind when we left. The not so great features of the island would have to be it's lack of a 'real' long winding beach - and perhaps the melanesian buffet was not on the money...but for the other amazing stuff, you really don't notice. We stayed in a Garden Fare which I am so glad we did - we travelled with friends who stayed at the ocean view apartments (PERFECT for families with kids), and the both have pros and cons, but the Fare was more like 'home', and really enhanced the island experience - the linen was gorgeous, decor very balinese and island-rustic, while the apartments are very very modern. Overall a wonderful stay! We traveled to other resorts and islands, and nothing beat Iririki - it was away from everything, but still had some modern comforts like air conditioning, pools, a great restaurant overlooking the entire harbour, great bar, great service... We have just spent a 7 day holiday in one of the hotel's fares. Fantastic views over the harbour and great breakfasts included were some of the highlights. The fares themselves are in need of a refurb with old curtains and bedding, and furniture in need of repair. However, cleanliness was not an issue as the fares are made up daily. Drinks prices were […] not inflated with a 'happy hour' every afternoon offering reduced prices on certain drinks (be sure to find out which ones!). The food and beverage staff are very helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The ferry which is available 24/7 over to Port Vila is a fantastic idea. Staff at the Port Vila ferry stop are also very helpful and will ensure you are put on the correct tour if you have booked one. Remember that there is 'island time' and if you have booked a tour for an 8.30 pick up, it may not arrive for 40 minutes or so after this! The good thing is that they WILL come, so please be patient. The local buses are a great way to get around locally as they only charge 150vt per person. They are always waiting at the ferry stop, and are identified with a 'B' on their rego plate. Taxis are also readily available and are identified with a 'T'. The Vanuatu people will not try to be dishonest about money and if you are getting in a taxi ask first what the fare will be to your destination. We will be back again next year! Iririki Island has a free 24/7 ferry/taxi ride from the main town of Port Vila. The island is surrounded by clear waters streaming with coral and fish. The resort offers a great accomodation selection for couples or families. Very good food at there main restaurants which have some of the best theme nights we saw on our trip. We had a special occasion which the functions co-ordinator Julie made every momment wonderful and memorable for us both. All in all, we had a great stay! The hotel is rated as a 4 star and both my husband and I agreed that this was an accurate reflection of the hotel. The location was excellent and the view from our room awesome! (We stayed in the sea view appartments). Service was not great (we would rate it as a 3 star standard). Although the staff were pleasant and […] eager to help, we often waited ages before anything happened. As an example, we ordered room service (bread and dips and french fries) which took 45 minutes to get there, with some items missing (dips and ketchup) which took them another 30 minutes to bring, by which time out food was cold. Service seems to be an issue all over Vanuatu though and we experienced it pretty much everywhere we went - restaurants etc. Food was another issue. The food at the hotel restaurants was well below average! and we chose to eat at other restaurants instead. Be prepared to pay as much as you would in Australia for a meal out. No cheap meals here! As I say, all in all a very nice hotel although DEFINITELY not worth the full asking price for a room. We got a good deal on Expedia (over 3 times less than the asking price) and at that price, would definitely recommend it! Read more

We were so looking forward to our break but from the start we were let down, we asked several times for an umbrella, for the safe to be unlocked, for a buggy to take us to the restaurant as it was pouring in rain & we didn't have an umbrella... we had to asked 2 or 3 times before anything happened everytime. The food in the restaurant was poor, I have […] never sat down and had the staff say "let me tell you what we haven't got" for every course. Then the final straw was when we got our final bill & glanced over it there were 3 charges that weren't ours, when we questioned it and were shown the receipts Blind Freddy could have seen the name & signatures weren't ours. We were apologised to and told that is why we get the guests to check their bills! it shouldn't happen in the first place! oh and if you pay by credit card you were going to pay another 2.75% (and I don't just mean Amex, any credit card, this was common throught Port Vila). Another point, not the hotel's fault but Port Vila is an absolute dump and very expensive for what you get, or rather what you don't get. The one shining point was our Ocean Front Spa Suite was superb, just as well as we spent a lot of time there due to us both getting on separate occasions food poisoning (and we never get food poisoning normally). Yup, you guessed it we were not happy campers and when you were really looking forward to a holiday it is just so upsetting when it turns out like this. Read more
