The hotel itself was great. But after parking our car in their elevator-accessed underground garage, they jokingly told us the elevator sometimes breaks. I laughed it off until later that day, when NEEDING TO LEAVE FOR SWITZERLAND they told us that the elevator had indeed broken and they weren't sure they would be able to get it out that day. They offered to give us a taxi for 20 miles or so, and balked at the idea of a rental car, as if it was somehow OUR problem that they locked our car underground. I'm sorry, but for four stars and so many hundreds of euros - you need to take responsibility when you screw up. In the end they fortunately did get the car out (later than preferred but at least the same day), but after driving home I noticed their elevator had scratched it all up. Infuriating. It's all really too bad, because EVERYTHING else about it: location, cleanliness, style, etc was great. I would recomend to stay there but park elsewhere.

This is without doubt an imposing hotel with a enviable location - however it caters for conferences and guests at the hotel seem an afterthought- hence the reception to the side of the main building- not for guests is the impressive galliered stairs and the hotel shop - we had to make do with far more modest facilities - lifts that could barely accommodate 3 people and their luggage with a squeeze - no lounges - and garden cafes which were open to the public and little more than an ice cream parlours and a restaurant that was so empty it rattled- even over May day- where every restaurant in Como was heaving - could it be the high prices and poor value - I reckon so ! To summarise a hotel which has the very best location but is probably one of a chain which has not got a clue how to make the best of its assets! What could I say that what was positive- good location , clean bedrooms- but choosing this hotel proved a very poor choice.

Not only was it a wonderful hotel, the location is superb. The boat rides were right across the street (hotel faces lake), the main plaza a very short walk and lots of restaurants nearby. The train station from Malpensa Airport (to Sarano?) then Como, is also right around the corner. (There are two train stations in Como as well as Milan). You can bypass Milan Central Station by going thru Sarano (Serano?).

We used the Hotel as a base to go to the Italian grand Prix at Monza. We had paid extra and the view of the Lake was wonderful and not obscured by trees. The room was tall and elegant but not large, it would have been nice to have had an easy chair too. The ensuite was well appointed with a shower only but lots of towels ,toiletries etc. The buffet breakfast started early which was just what we wanted and was full of fruit fresh, dried and fruit salad plus cereals, meats, cheeses, eggs, salad and croissants etc.a very full continental breakfast with good helpful staff .Sunday was special with smoked salmon also. Reception was very helpful. The downside was a fifteen euro per night charge for the hotel underground carpark. As we had to be off early we only used this one night.

Hotel was very nice. Was a little let down by the decor of our room. It could use some updated furniture and decor. It was straight out of a mod 60's magazine. Lots of room and great sized bathroom. Great location and exterior. Great breakfast buffet and very homey and relaxing (excep for the furniture). Would highly recommend.

This is a really fantastic hotel! Its location is very convenient (2 min walk from the train station) and it is only a few mins away from the Duomo, the AeroClub and the Yacht Club. The restaurant is amazing but a little expensive (dinner for two - no alcohol = £100!) But the best thing about this place is the view (make sure you request a room with lake view!) The room was quite small but comfortable and clean. All in all, it is a very beautiful place in a great location.

I'm a very agile physically but let me tell you -I could hardly stand up in the shower. The floor has no skid protection and sloops down to the drain. I mentioned that at the desk on leaving. The comment was not taken seriously. I would suggest management try taking a shower themselves for the experience. I know they along with all other guests will find it very difficult to stand up!

This was a very nice property right across the street from lake como with parking on the property. I was surprised that there was not a business center or place for internet access for guests in the hotel. the only negatives about the room are that there is no way for the guest to control the room temperature and that the shower floor was dangerously slippery.

The location is fantastic! The hotel is just across the street from Lake Como & the boat & ferry docks. We walked everywhere: to the funiculare, Il Duomo, Volta Museum, WW II Memorial Park, stadium & all around town. The room was great. It was a front corner room with a stone balcony overlooking the lake, a king bed & a roll-away bed (they were both very comfy, the bathroom was large and had a tall window, shower, tub, hairdryer & was all marble. The restaurant was suberb - order the pumpkin rissoto! The service was very good, but you need to ask specific questions to get info. The elevators are a riot! They are so small we couldn't fit our luggage in with us! The price was very good. We would definately recommend the Palace Hotel & will stay there again when we return,

Well 20 years ago this hotel may have been luxury, time changes but this hotel did not. The hotel is run down and need renovation, the staff is very italian in the very slow way, like you are the costumer, and i dont care... service is not even an issue. So if you are going on a relaxing trip, where you expect to be treated by a king og a princess, well dont go there. A 4 star hotel offering 15% discount, and then charge you 15 Euro a night for parking??? - Please remove 3 stars for the hotel, and the standard is now more fair.
