Excellent location, only 45 minutes from Portland airport. Make sure to stop at Multnomah Falls on the way to the lodge! Fabulous food with huge portions! YOu could split a dish! Very good local beers. Wonderful, large and spacious rooms. Comfy beds. Good shampoo in the bathroom! Did a couples massage- way too expensive and not worth it. Poor quality […] massage for the price. Save your money and use it at dinner instead! But other spa options were great- loved the outdoor hottub! Pretty grounds. Very, very friendly and nice staff. Not only did we have a wonderful room with a great view we were surprised with chocolate covered strawberries in our room and a note card signed by the reception staff congratulating us on our 10 years. We just took a one night trip for a little family get away. The hotel was fantastic. Would have been perfect for a romantic weekend also. Staff was friendly, service was great and the facilities and surrounding area were lovely. Outside hot tub was wonderful. Our four year old was thrilled with the pool!

Everything was great except for the alcohol/food. We ordered two cocktails that were so watered down I seriously questioned if they forgot the alcohol, and for $20/2 they should be at least ok. Then ordered pizza from the bar side restaurant, and it was flavorless and the dough was raw. My husband and I came to Skamania Lodge on a Wednesday through a Saturday in December. We loved the Christmas decorations, the huge fireplace, and our room. We were disappointed in the service at the dining room and the Lodge. The servers were AWESOME, friendly, and helpful. But the time it took to get our drinks and meals was way too long. It seemed […] understaffed. During dinner at the Rock, we noticed that there were only 2 servers plus the bartender trying to serve everyone. Just plan on waiting a long time for food if you go to the restaurants. Also, reservations don't make much of a difference, we still had to wait more than 20 minutes after our reservation to get a seat for the dining room. Skamania Lodge should get a bigger dining room to seat the amount of people staying at their lodge. We also would have really liked to sit at the fireplace, but there were so many people in the main room, that there were never seats for us to sit and enjoy the fire or listen to the live piano. Can't imagine what it must be like on the weekends or in the high season! It would be nice if they had another main room that you could sit in. Our room was clean and very relaxing. We had a forest view, which still was nice, even though we couldn't see the river. Also, if you are a couple, be prepared for hearing the people next to you, we could hear the kids in the adjacent room. THE SPA IS WONDERFUL! If you get a massage, you will love it! Read more

The receptionist when we arrived was pleasant but as soon as we got to the room I saw that it was a double queen room and not king room as I requested. When you book a room, make sure you don't get a room next to a pet friendly room. We had a room and woke up with dogs barking big dogs and little dogs when we called the front desk they said this shouldn't happen but the dogs kept barking every few minutes. We did get a voucher for two free Cokes if we would eat in the restaurant; this was their way […] of saying sorry for the trouble. Just think of this after spending quite a bit per night and eating at the restaurant which is expensive you would think there would be more they would do. This was our anniversary and the room had no view it felt like we woke up in a low rent hotel when the dogs barked, just make sure you specify exactly what kind of room you want because this is a nice place otherwise just not as personal as one would think, there is a lot going on around there like conferences and weddings so be prepared for people always around when you want to relax; otherwise this could be a nice place to stay and has been in the past. We were at this hotel as part of a weekend escape, and had heard a lot of good things about it, having grown up in the area but had since moved away. The location is probably the best thing going about it, and the banquet facilities looked great (in fact, I think there were one or two weddings going on at the location itself while we were there). Unfortunately, […] our experience there, outside of some of the desk staff, was not entirely worth the expense of staying there. Some of the staff were quite inattentive and/or not knowledgeable about some of the amenities themselves or the hotel's surroundings when asked. Later on that evening, we discovered that the TVs in all of the rooms at the hotel were having trouble receiving all channels below 23 or so. This had not been communicated previously. Also, there were some hairs in the bed that obviously did not belong to either of us. There were other small items, but not worth mentioning here. Many of the other features of the hotel were great and spoke well of the staff and amenities, so I think 3 stars would be reasonable. Read more

After spending two nights here, we concluded that this property is a bit pretentious and pricey for what you get. However, if you play golf, or like ridiculously expensive restaurants, this may be the place for you. We were touring the Columbia River Gorge, not spending time at the hotel. There are great places to eat in nearby Stevenson with wonderful […] scenic views of the cliffs and river. The location is nice for getting to the wonderful waterfalls, hiking trails, Bonneville (you MUST see the fish viewing area! really!). The hotel also has a $16 per day add-on fee that we didn't notice when booking -- presumably for Internet access, but we expect to subsidize the golf course. Considering that virtually every hotel in the country provides Internet at no cost these days, their explanation for the extra charge was not well received. The room was nice, comfortable bed .. we were on the inside so there was no view, but that didn't matter -- we don't spend daylight hours in our hotel room when traveling. We live only about 75 miles from Skamania, but wanted an easy get-away for our anniversary. We loved it at Skamania. It is very upscale in a casual, Pacific Northwest kind of way. Great restaurant, great service, clean. They don't have many pet friendly rooms, and they do charge you a one time fee of $50 if you bring a pet. The pool is only 4 feet deep, and the "hike" is just a trail around a golf coarse. Great place if you are looking to play golf, or have a wedding in a place with a nice view of the Columbia.

This was my first and last stay at Skamania. I am gluten free, not one item on the menu in the bar was GF, so plan on brining a lot of your own food. No refridgerator in the room though so pack a cooler too. Our room had a view of a dirt embankment, and worse the sounds of pipes knocking kept us awake all night. The outdoor hot tub was not working either, […] and I would have appreciated a heads up about that when booking my room. Also, we paid for room service when they came to the door, yet it was on our room as a charge. They took 20.00 off a service fee for who knows what, but when I returned home found it on my debit card statement anyway. All in all extremely overpriced for what you get. This hotel fell well below expectations. Making allowances for the holiday weekend we visited and the high occupancy, the hotel was too noisy, the passing trains blew whistles all night long and the cost was too high for the value. This resort is not worth the money. It's location is beautiful but that's about it. Both the too soft but lumpy bed and the pull out couch in our room were closer to torture devices than restful creature comforts. The indoor hot tub spas were excessively foamy and felt slimy. Also, they did not have any jets high enough to massage a person's upper back, […] which we really needed after sleeping on the bed! The outdoor heated spa was under renovation. Why not do that in August when it's hot and an outdoor heated spa is less desireable than in the cooler months? The restaurant was quite good but very expensive.
