Very convenient location if you are visiting anybody at Cal Poly or are interested in walking downtown from the hotel. Beds/pillows were very comfortable, and free breakfast in the morning was a plus. The location was really great, literally about two blocks from Cal Poly. Our room was just recently painted....so is smelled pretty awful, but once we aired it out it wasn't so bad. I was really impressed with the breakfast selection. I just needed a room to crash for the night before doing a triathlon in the morning. The hotel room was very clean and the management were very nice. I was on the third floor and it was very quiet. Nice room for the money.

I've stayed at most of the 'budget' hotels in SLO and this one definitely has the worst bang-for-your-buck compared to the others. There were stains on the walls, the mirror in the bathroom was broken with a huge piece of painters tape stuck on as the "fix", and the shower was painful as there was no shower head and crazy high water pressure. My wife and I really enjoy visiting SLO several times a year to unwind and relax. We have stayed at this hotel several times and find it to be adequate for our needs. When I reported that the cable was out in my room I was told that "We are having a problem with the provider" The problem was not solved during my three day stay. MIcorwave did not work, small (standard) rooms ok for 1 but would have been hard for a couple.

This location was perfect for its distance from my business appointment. However, the cleanliness of the room was not that great. I was afraid to use the shower has there was caked dirt on the outside and inside rim of the shower door and walls. Yuck!

Last night of a four day college road trip. This was to visit Cal Poly SLO. The hotel was close to the school, downtown shopping, etc. Room was on the small side , walls were paper-thin - could hear full conversations from the room next door, older style TV, in room fridge was so loud we unplugged it for the duration of the stay. Continental breakfast was on the just over-run, the poor woman servicing the area was trying very hard to keep up but way more people than food. We have always stayed in the main building before, but this time it was full, so we had a room across the street in a separate 3-story structure. Our room was not at all of the caliber of the rooms in the main building. Although conveniently located, I would not stay here again. I have stayed in San Luis many times and this was by far the most disappointing. The first complaint is the noticeable, stale, cheesy, odor that permeates the room. The air conditioner was in the back portion of the room where the sink was located, so the air flow was terrible. Made the room […] hot and uncomfortable. The furniture was old and beat up and the walls needed repainting. The carpet has seen better days as well. The front desk person was very kind, helpful and efficient. My room was quiet and I rested well until the alarm clock went off at 3:43 a.m. I had not set it for that time, it just came on! The hotel was close to town and campus and I will stay there again when visiting my daughter in college.

It was fine for what we needed...a place to sleep. We got in at 1:30 in the morning after driving for 9hrs, we were very tired. We got off on the wrong exit and needed to call for directions. The clerk was not helpful and kind of rude. We finally found it a few minutes later. When we walked in exhausted, the clerk just looked at us without saying one […] word..even when we got to the desk he didn't even say a word...I had to say "we have reservations" I would not stay here again! My room type was messed up. They couldn't seem to straighten it out because I booked through Expedia, not them. Not a huge deal overall but seemed really stupid that they couldn't handle it. Also, I had to ask for extra towels due to the room type and maid kept taking them out. Hotel staff kept asking me to go to the desk to get them.

We (4 couples) had the worst experience with a hotel. One couple asked to change to a 2 queen beds room, they were given a room across the street with no elevator. How do you expect the elderly folks to drag the bags up the stairs? One couple's room did not have soap and toilet paper. When they called the front dest, they were told to come down to get […] them by themselves. In the breakfast room, not only were food in poor quality, but the food trays were often empty. The carpets, particularly in the hall ways, were dirty with stains. I felt so bad because I was the one who booked the rooms for my friends. We were so anxious to get out of there as soon as we could. Good thing we only stayed there for one night. We were having a pleasant and enjoyable trip until this unhappy treatment. What a shame! This was a very nice hotel in the middle of town, very clean and quite. We were there to tour California Polytechnic State University which is just down the road. The Hotel staffs were very friendly and helpful. And the Hotel is in walking distance of the main street of town.
