"Easy freeway access"
front desk staff very friendly. quiet room. standard breakfast.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very clean, comfortable and close to Farmer's Market on Higuera as well as downtown attractions and dining. Definitely will return.Genuine Expedia guest review
"San Luis Obispo"
We stayed in San Luis Obispo to attend a swim event at Cal Poly University. The "Comfort Inn and Suites Lamplighter" was so conveniently located- near to Cal Poly, as well as eating places, stores, and allowed for easy access to freeway.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Way to early"
My gf and I checked into our room and the front desk agent was really nice. Got to the room went in and was very un happy. There was drywall on the floor with a hole in the wall, shower door was broken so didn't close at all, pillows has stains on them on top of all that they started doing maintence on the room above us at 7am. Definitely wouldn't stay […] again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
First room was filthy dirty!!! Moved to another room dirty but not as dirty. Settled in and then we heard banging and scraping called the front desk oh sorry they are doing construction on the room above us.. Ok it's only 6pm we go out to have dinner get back to the room at 8:30pm now the room smelled like a terrible glue smell and still the loud banging […] we called the front desk they said oh we thought they had left already by 9pm the noise finally stopped.. The room was dirty missing lamp shade there was no closet well there was a bar to hang your clothes on over the toilet!! Worst room ever!!!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This was a good accommodation for my family and me for my daughter's wedding nearby. We did have a problem with the phones not working at all to call the front desk with an emergency situation. We wondered why they were even in the room if they were completely nonfunctional. The breakfast was good with many choices for everyone. Easy access on and off […] the freeway which can be confusing in San Luis Obispo. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We pulled up and thought what a nice place. The lobby was nice and clean. It was a Sunday night so there weren't many people there. We were put in another building across the street, (keep in mind, the main hotel was not even half full). There was no one else in this other building and the room didn't have towels or anything in it. We were next to the […] maid’s room, so they provided what we needed. The room itself was in quite a state of shoddy and incomplete repair. There were nails sticking up from in the carpet, the walls paint was peeling, the bathroom was a mess... you get the idea. So about 10:00 that night they put someone else in our dark spooky building, and guess where they put them, yep right above us. Of course you must have figured out that the floors squeak as well. What the heck, there is no one else in this building and the main hotel is not even close to half full! I cannot believe that Comfort Inn would allow their name to be put on such a place. Needless to say, we will not be staying there again. There are many other hotels nearby! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"I would stay there again"
This is a good place to stay. My only complaints are that the iron leaked a little and the shower needed a little chaulking (some water ran onto the bathroom floor)Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location - decent room"
The room was clean but a bit Spartan. It was a great location, close to the highway and an easy walk to fantastic restaurants and shops. The staff was attentive to any needs in the room and at breakfast.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great price for a clean quiet hotel."
It was exactly what I paid for. Not fancy, but clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great. More than I expected. Love the waffles, eggs and sausage. Close to Cal Poly Dan Luis Obispo and downtown. I have stayed in every hotel in town that charges less than $125 for a nights stay and this by far is the best in that lower price range.Genuine Expedia guest review
The room was very comfortable and clean. The service was impeccable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Our 43rd anniversary"
Wonderful day and night on the town and our stay at the comfort inn was exquisiteGenuine Expedia guest review
No towels in the room and it was dirty. For $99 it's not worth it. Lesson learned I won't stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
room small, shower/bath had a musty smell. It was nice to have a fridge and microwave though. there was construction going on that made it quite noisy.overall o.k. though.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"FROM DISAPPOINTED TO DELIGHTED"
Upon check-in the room we received was like walking into a Motel 6 (totally disappointed); but after the first night and a problem with the room/amenities we were moved to a different room and ended up being in a room that was what we expect from a Comfort Inn. Our stay was a complete turn around from the first night, thank you. If we had been in the […] initial room the entire stay we would never consider staying here again, but knowing that the rooms are not all like the Motel 6 quality we would stay here again and ask to see the room first. "So So Hotel."
Unfortunately, the "Quality" Inn and Suites does not have much when it comes to Quality... I'd say that this hotel is good if you are looking for a place to sleep overnight on the way through California. Otherwise, I'd try to find a different place. The room we booked was supposed to be one of the "Larger Deluxe Rooms" but it was possibly to smallest […] hotel room I've been in. The drawers in the room didn't even have handles on them and the bathroom had straggling hair on the counter left over from someone else. The bed was decently comfortable, and we felt safe in the area, but coming from another hotel on the coast with a wonderful room, we definitely got hit with a dose of reality and had the opportunity to look forward to getting back home for the next night. The breakfast is pretty standard, and not too tasty. The location is decent, but there are probably eight to ten other hotels lined up on the same street. If you can find another place for close to the same $$ I'd suggest going elsewhere. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Just Fine for a short stay"
We arrived late in the evening and the fellow at the front desk was most helpful. The room was smaller than I'd expected, given that we had a "larger" queen-bed room. There wasn't room for more than the bed, a desk, two night stands, and a television. But it was clean and cozy. Breakfast the next day was not so good, because the space is so small that […] there aren't enough tables for everyone to be seated. We waited a few minutes until a table cleared, plates in hand, but by then the eggs had gotten cold. Still and all, it was perfectly fine for our short stay. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Nice hotel and perfect location"
Located right in downtown San Luis Obispo. Has a nice view of the mountains around and just down the street from Cal Poly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to CalPoly and downtown"
Great location, comfortable bed and rooms, and a very friendly staff. It is a little bit dated, but is super clean and a perfect place if you just need a spot to crash. The price was lower than comparable hotels, so I felt it was a good value.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"you get what you pay for"
I paid very little so cant complain but will not stay again. We were in SLO for a CaL Poly event so at least we were close to campus. Our room was in the building across the street which was a bit run down. The room had an "old"smell but was clean. The shower was like a box ..weird because there was plenty of space for a bigger shower. The free breakfast […] was next to nothing and the front dwsk staff unfriendly. "convenient but faulty"
We've chosen this place since my daughter was going to drive to Santa Cruz and I was going back to San Diego on the Amtrak Surfliner the next day. The room was clean, we slept well but small complaints; microwave "start" switch did not work, shower curtain rod fell off. My daughter has food allergies and restrictions so we bring her food in a cooler […] and depend on microwave to heat it up. Did not want maintenance staff coming in and out at that point so she had to eat cold food. We understand the hotel rate is very reasonable but I would enjoy certain basic amenities to be in a proper working condition. Don't want to step in the shower and the curtain rod falling on you! The bed was very comfortable, like home. The shower curtain was torn and old. The room was nice and clean. The cleaning staff was eager to please. The fella at the desk, was Jed, and he was very very nice and eager to please. The others were ok. Jed helped us take things to our room, when we had our hands full and very friendly. The food in the breakfast […] was hot and fresh. The gals that worked in that area were sweet and also eager to please. The parking that we had was cool. Over all a great experience. It isn't a five star, but, it was worth the money. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Comfortable Bed for the Price"
The bed was very supportive. The breakfast: eggs, meat, waffles, yogurt, cereal, milk, juices, and coffee. This establishment does not have enough seating in breakfast area to accommodate the number of guests. BE AWARE: this facility consists of two separate buildings. The main building has two floors and serviced by an elevator. The second building […] is three floors in height and does not have elevator services. The choice of mountain or pool view is applicable to the main building only. SILLY ME! I booked third-floor room thinking that would provide the best mountain view---NOT! "nice comfortable stay business or pleasure"
My stay at this hotel was business oriented. The hotel was clean and had easy access to Cal Poly and the surrounding SLO area. For the price I'd stay again. I have stayed at many of the local hotels during my son's 4 years at Cal Poly. I would stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"San Luis Obispo"
This is a nice hotel. We were impressed how nice and clean it was. We also enjoyed breakfast as well.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good Location in San Luis Obispo"
We have stayed here a few times. Rooms are clean and well kept. Walls are a little thin. The person next door had a couple of coughing attacks that we heard clearly. The continental breakfast is pretty good. A good value for the price.Genuine Expedia guest review
Dirty hall ways. Very small room, after I paid for larger room. Not that happy with Comfort Inn at SLO. Not up to standards.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to Cal Poly and okay for the price."
Staff was polite and friendly. The room (albeit dated) was clean and had the extras needed. For the price, we were surprised breakfast was included and they had cookies and lemonade in the lobby which was a nice touch. It could definitely use some updating, but otherwise it was an okay place to stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room I was in smelled really bad. I had to sleep with the air conditioner on all night. The air conditioner didn't work very well either. The bathroom smelled like a sewer. The shower was very slippery, like it had never been cleaned. The service was very good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Small room + few amenities = low cost option"
We didn't spend much time in the room, otherwise, we would have rated it lower. Our room did not have a refrigerator. My friend stayed in the room next door and he had a refrigerator, go figure. Two of the light bulbs in the room di dnot work. The room did not hae any towels whein it when we checked in. My wife asked for towels and we received two thin […] towels (no more, no less). The shower was tiny. We are both not large people, so not sure how large ones do it. All in all, an affordable option if you want a place to drop your bags and sleep at night. "Close to Cal Poly & downtown"
Very nice accommodations & very close to Cal Poly U. Convenient to downtown San Luis Obispo.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very convenient location if you are visiting anybody at Cal Poly or are interested in walking downtown from the hotel. Beds/pillows were very comfortable, and free breakfast in the morning was a plus. There were some cigarette burns in the comforter and on the desk -and for a smoke free room was a little gross, but that was about the only disappointing […] thing. Nothing fancy, but I was satisfied. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not what we were hoping for..."
The room was recently painted but the bathroom was still a mess. It looked like someone removed the old wallpaper border and left behind cracked and crumbling paint. The bathroom was missing the baseboards as well so the paint at the bottom of the wall was damaged and dirty. This is our fault but we thought the location was much closer to downtown SLO, […] it was not. Also when we checked in there was no one at the front desk, just a broken sign that said "Be back soon". "2 from So. CAL."
THE breakfast was ok. Not that much to talk about. However for the price and what you got you could stay at Motel 6 and the money you save go out and have a wonderful breakfast..Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The location was really great, literally about two blocks from Cal Poly. Our room was just recently painted....so is smelled pretty awful, but once we aired it out it wasn't so bad. I was really impressed with the breakfast selection. Most comfort inns just offer the basic cereal and pastries but they had eggs, sausage, waffles, fresh fruit, cereal, […] etc. I would definitely stay here again. The bathroom very clean, and water pressure for shower great. The bed is very comfortable.Genuine Expedia guest review
very cleanGenuine Hotels.com guest review
To start off, after a long drive we were excited to relax in our room. When we entered, (5:30pm), the room hadn't been cleaned. There were no other rooms available. We tried to kill a couple hours downtown and wait for the phone call telling us the room was ready, per the plan. They never called. After I called them, they said it was ready. As we entered […] the door, the smell of deodorizer hit us like a brick wall. We immediately opened all windows and doors trying to air the room out. After awhile we understood what they were trying to cover up . . . the smell of urine. Ugh! The hot tub was dirty and luke warm. This room experience caused us to cut our stay short and cancel our next night's stay. Love San Luis Obispo, but won't be staying here next time! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Good Place to stay for a short night"

"Decent economy priced room"
Decent place to get some sleep and shower overnight would not spend more than a couple of days. Good value if all you are looking for is a fairly clean and economical place to stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
The carpets needed cleaning, breakfast was served with paper plates and plastic utensils, not acceptable to us. I was expecting a suite, room was small for the price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Just what I needed after all day on my motorcycle!"
The young woman at the reception desk was excellent - pleasant, helpful, competent. The room was very good for what I needed, ie. ground floor so I could park my motorcycle close, comfortable and quiet, except for a very noticeable fan on the heat unit.Genuine Expedia guest review
I've stayed at most of the 'budget' hotels in SLO and this one definitely has the worst bang-for-your-buck compared to the others. There were stains on the walls, the mirror in the bathroom was broken with a huge piece of painters tape stuck on as the "fix", and the shower was painful as there was no shower head and crazy high water pressure. Also, […] they advertised a hot tub but didn't have one. The place looks very nice from the outside, but looks can be deceiving. We would not stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
