Quick stop in SLO. Location is good, rooms are clean, and breakfast is pretty good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great bang for your buck!"
My wife and I really enjoy visiting SLO several times a year to unwind and relax. We have stayed at this hotel several times and find it to be adequate for our needs. The rooms across the street are indeed on the small side and dated in decor but the staff is great. We find that it is greatly priced for what you get; good central location, good breakfast, […] great customer service, and most importantly a good night's sleep. You are also able to purchase the bigger rooms for a slightly higher rate. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"No cable TV"
When I reported that the cable was out in my room I was told that "We are having a problem with the provider" The problem was not solved during my three day stay. MIcorwave did not work, small (standard) rooms ok for 1 but would have been hard for a couple.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Don't stay here for the breakfast!"
The room was OK. Couldn't make myself eat the breakfast. There are some good places within walking distance to get some food worth eating. There was a slight smell to the rooms but overall it was a nice inexpensive place to stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, hotel staff could clean the rooms"
This location was perfect for its distance from my business appointment. However, the cleanliness of the room was not that great. I was afraid to use the shower has there was caked dirt on the outside and inside rim of the shower door and walls. Yuck!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Since we visit San Luis Obispo 3 to 4 times per year, this hotel is convenient for US.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Efficient hotel only, don't expect more."
Efficient, easy to access and park but no real charm in this nice town.Genuine Expedia guest review
"College road trip -night three"
Last night of a four day college road trip. This was to visit Cal Poly SLO. The hotel was close to the school, downtown shopping, etc. Room was on the small side , walls were paper-thin - could hear full conversations from the room next door, older style TV, in room fridge was so loud we unplugged it for the duration of the stay. Beds were comfortable […] and clean as was the room in general. Continental breakfast was on the just over-run, the poor woman servicing the area was trying very hard to keep up but way more people than food. Overall, I thought is was a worth the money but if we visited again we'd probably try something different. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"No more visits in our future."
We've stayed at this hotel a number of times over the last 5 or so years and this was the first time I was truly disappointed. We have always stayed in the main building before, but this time it was full, so we had a room across the street in a separate 3-story structure. Our room was not at all of the caliber of the rooms in the main building. It was […] tiny, and odd shape, and right next to the housecleaning office--where things get going bright and early in the morning. There was water damage in the bathroom and a cheap stand-alone shower. No bath mat. Not at all a great place to stay. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The bedspreads were stained. The plumbing made very loud noises when the room next door used their water. Staff was very nice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Furniture not very good for room. Few outlets. No refrigerator. Fan in bathroom came on, automatically with light.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Go else where if you have the choice"
Although conveniently located, I would not stay here again. I have stayed in San Luis many times and this was by far the most disappointing. The first complaint is the noticeable, stale, cheesy, odor that permeates the room. The air conditioner was in the back portion of the room where the sink was located, so the air flow was terrible. Made the room […] hot and uncomfortable. The furniture was old and beat up and the walls needed repainting. The carpet has seen better days as well. The outside of the hotel appears recently remodeled, but don't fall for it! Not worth what we paid. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Poor room service; pool and spa closes during normal hours. Breakfast good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The front desk person was very kind, helpful and efficient. My room was quiet and I rested well until the alarm clock went off at 3:43 a.m. I had not set it for that time, it just came on! The hotel was close to town and campus and I will stay there again when visiting my daughter in college.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
the hotel was clean and service was good enough. I would stay there againGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel Desk Clerk Rude"
It was fine for what we needed...a place to sleep. We got in at 1:30 in the morning after driving for 9hrs, we were very tired. We got off on the wrong exit and needed to call for directions. The clerk was not helpful and kind of rude. We finally found it a few minutes later. When we walked in exhausted, the clerk just looked at us without saying one […] word..even when we got to the desk he didn't even say a word...I had to say "we have reservations" I would not stay here again! Oh and his shirt was wrinkled..like he just got it out of the dryer! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Comfortable and clean"
My room type was messed up. They couldn't seem to straighten it out because I booked through Expedia, not them. Not a huge deal overall but seemed really stupid that they couldn't handle it. Also, I had to ask for extra towels due to the room type and maid kept taking them out. Hotel staff kept asking me to go to the desk to get them.Genuine Expedia guest review
"nice campus area"
Single night stay small room hard to find outlets to use along with room to ironGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We (4 couples) had the worst experience with a hotel. One couple asked to change to a 2 queen beds room, they were given a room across the street with no elevator. How do you expect the elderly folks to drag the bags up the stairs? One couple's room did not have soap and toilet paper. When they called the front dest, they were told to come down to get […] them by themselves. In the breakfast room, not only were food in poor quality, but the food trays were often empty. The carpets, particularly in the hall ways, were dirty with stains. I felt so bad because I was the one who booked the rooms for my friends. We were so anxious to get out of there as soon as we could. Good thing we only stayed there for one night. We were having a pleasant and enjoyable trip until this unhappy treatment. What a shame! "Very nice stay"
This was a very nice hotel in the middle of town, very clean and quite. We were there to tour California Polytechnic State University which is just down the road. The Hotel staffs were very friendly and helpful. And the Hotel is in walking distance of the main street of town.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice place to stay in San Luis Obispo"
It was fine for a night. There was some food left in the closet from a previous guest, so I guess that the room cleaner must have missed it. On the plus side of that problem there were a few coins left on the nightstand.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good price for a comfortable room"

I was surprised at how dated and worn the room was.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed here on our way to LA. We picked it for the price but expected a bit more for the money. The rooms are incredibly small and are a bit dingy. Next time I would pay a bitter and go back to the Holiday Inn.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
it was ok, the location was good and and the area was nice. the only problem that we had was the front desk lady was quite rude, and our key to the room didnt work the following day which was a real inconvince.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"A disappointing stay"
The hotel looked quite nice on the exterior, but our room was remarkably small; the "queen" bed was the smallest and least comfortable "queen" bed I've tried in a longtime. The room was completely bare of any amenity - blank white walls and only modestly clean. We were not supplied with enough towels for two people - all in all very disappointing for […] the price we paid . . . . Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
our stay was just okay. We were in the annex building and as there were few guests, it was really quiet. The room seemed it was under renovation because the shower ceiling was being spackled/textured at the time. Quiet, yes. Okay stay, yes. Next time, we'll have a room in the main building.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, great service, paper-thin walls"
This was probably the least expensive of the 8-10 hotels at this end of Monterey Street. It's a great neighborhood that I've stayed in before, so I was happy to find an inexpensive hotel room in the area. The service was great and the free breakfast perfectly adequate. Fortunately, it was mid-week and the hotel wasn't too busy, because there is no […] sound insulation in the building - not only can you hear the TV next door, but you can hear pretty much every sound your neighbor makes. It worked out fine for me - I was on a business trip and so tired every night that I was able to ignore the noise. I think for a vacation trip that I would probably look for someplace better. "Comfort inn & suites Lampligh San Luis obispo"
I was disappointed with our stay. My wife needed a hair dryer- the room was suppose to supply one. When I asked desk for one he said he would get one. Never showed up. The towels were shredded and thin - the suite was tiny- toliet was screwed up.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"close to downtown"
We chose this hotel for the price and location. It was clean enough and the price was very good compared to the surrounding hotels. We arrived late and left early so it served it's purpose and price point well for us.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Comfort Inn - SLO"
Hotel management seems to be letting the facility go down hill as there was chipped paint, frayed towels, broken tiles, and marks on painted walls and doors. So it is gradually becoming a run down hotel. I also paid for an extra large Queen room and if the room had been any smaller you could only get in 1 double bed - so perhaps I did not receive what […] I paid for. Wireless internet was not secured (they had one, but it just would never connect) Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Comfort Inn San Luis Obispo"
Room was large and very clean, bathroom amenities were great and looked new, no problem with H20, like in some hotels I've stayed in. Breakfast had decent variety of choices, only the eggs were dried up. I would stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Won't be returning here."
We recently stayed at a beautiful Comfort Inn & Suites in San Diego, so I figured this one would be just as nice. I was disappointed to find that this hotel was very dated (linens, decorations, fixtures, etc.). My main complaint is that the walls were paper-thin; we heard EVERYTHING. Also, the beds were very stiff and uncomfortable and the pillows […] were small and also uncomfortable. The staff quickly granted our request to switch rooms (the one we were in smelled like stale perfume and the neighbors were quite noisy). The free continental breakfast is nothing special, but it was free. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

This hotel was very convenient to Cal Poly and the staff was very helpful. The breakfast wasn't gourmet but I didn't expect that given the price. For our short stay this hotel was a great value.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice look for a Motel"
We stayed in the separate wing on the side of the hotel and had a good night's sleep. I liked the effort they have made to make the exterior look better than average Motel - nice flower arrangements and almost a Med feel in this cute town. Good location too, within easy walking distance to the centre. The one downside was the breakfast: choices were […] limited and the room was far too small for the number of guests. My advice: skip the hotel stuff and go to bakery down the road for your morning coffee. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good location, comfy beds, great breakfast."
We were in town to visit Cal Poly and booked at the Comfort Inn and Suites Lamplighter, just off the 101, conveniently close to the school and to downtown San Luis. It was very nice lodging for a good price. We paid more than twice that amount at the Madonna Inn on our last trip and didn't even sleep as well. The most important things for us are a comfortable […] bed and a quiet room. This place scored high on both counts. They offered other conveniences like a mini refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker with supplies and iron/ironing board, even an in-room safe. We seldom see all that in pricier hotels without extra charges. The only negative was that the room was on the small side, but we weren't there most of the time except to sleep so it didn't bother us. One of the best things is their continental breakfast that's included. Not your usual pastry, cold cereal and drinks. They offered hot foods like scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and fresh waffles. And you aren't squeezed into a little room that was converted from a storage area. It was in a good sized room to seat at least 25-30 people comfortably. Would definitely stay there again.
