Nice hotel in a ghetto neighborhood. Close to downtown San Diego and a lot of major attractions. Coronado bridge was nearby and very accesible to Balboa park and San Diego Zoo among other places. Ok first, the neighborhood is a bit iffy...However i didn't feel unsafe or anything, there is just a lot of homeless people in this part of the city. If that bothers you then maybe its not for you. It was next to the on ramp for the Coronado Bridge which is where i needed to go to pick up my husband. That was sooo convenient, great for military when no rooms are available on base... and i was pleasantly surprised by the how comfortable the room was! New tv that worked fine, big bathroom, a tub to take a bath & shower, king size bed was very comfortable with plenty of pillows, a/c and heat worked great, view was OK of the city. Room smelled an old drunk lived or died there a decade or more before his corpse was discovered but that was just the smell and it probably just needs new a carpet and bedding but OVERALL it was ok - great for the price and near to where I wanted to be. If you want to stay not to far from the gaslamp area and spend your money on food and not on an expensive hotel room, this is the place. Room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Only bad thing was we had to drive 3 - 5 miles for breakfast, as their continental breakfast was danish and coffee, but for the price of the room who cares.

This location is on the northern border of the Logan Barrio, within walking distance to downtown and easy access to the bus system. We suffer for the parking. We had to walk and left the car there because we were afraid to leave and lost the space. There are too many homeless people around which produce some safety concerns, specially very early in the morning. I do not advise to walk alone. The only "good" thing about this hotel was the location. 5-6 min to Coronado Beach. The A/C was leaking water throughout my stay (3 nights). We had two rooms and there were problems in both rooms with electrical outlets not working. We couldn't get the refrigerator in one room to work, and it took alot of jiggling of plugs to get anything to work in the other room. The air conditioning didn't work well in one room.

Room was clean (not fancy, but clean), though overall hotel is thrashed and in a rough neighborhood. Phone wasn't working upon arrival, did fix within one hour of notifying front desk. Wireless network was constantly problematic, front desk just told me to keep trying the password (would connect, drop, connect, drop...), never did fix the problem. Hotel […] continental breakfast consisted of dry cereals, instant oatmeal packets, milk, OJ, coffee, tea, muffins, pastries, oranges, apples. Insufficient parking for number of rooms (15-20-minute walk to convention center). Do a Google Street Level tour of the surrounding blocks (graffiti, barbed wire, litter, bottles). I liked the food places at the other end of the block (taco place, bakery, fruit/agua fresca place). I went out about 11:00pm my first night to see if I could grab a couple tacos before bed. I saw 4 women that looked like "ladies of the night" in the beauty salon parking lot next door, so I just went back to the hotel (without one of the women). Next morning (about 6:30am) when I went to get some champurrado and bread from the bakery, the park across the street had a bunch of people sleeping in it and one early riser was relieving himself against a wall. Nice weather so I slept with my window open, heard trains, dogs barking, sirens, helicopter, people yelling throughout the nights of my stay. Read more

I think this hotel is OK, but the parts I didn't like were probably more a side effect of its location than the hotel itself. Its one of the nicer buildings in the area. Unfortunately, I didn't feel very safe walking even around the block. Looking for food, you can find some a block or two from the hotel but you're also in an area with graffiti and […] the occasional unsavory character/homeless looking person. The hotel did have its share of mistakes. I stayed for 3 days and on the last day before my final night, the computer must have expired me early. I left to get a haircut, came back to my room to shower and my room key didn't work. I got a replacement key (no explanation, just apology) and it worked. Then I saw the room looked fully serviced--except for the second day they didn't replace any of the dirty towels and I had none left. I went the front desk and was told they were in the middle of doing my room and that they were coming with towels and was given a towel at the front desk. Nobody ever came by later with towels, but someone did come by ready to open the room... She apologized as she said the computer said the room was empty. I think this explains my issues with the room key and maybe why nobody bothered to bring new towels. Read more
