Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Elkton/Newark - Elkton 39.63726, -75.80454

I received this room at an exceptional rate and for the price I paid (50% joff normal) It was outstanding. The staff was friendly, the breakfast ended a little early for me, but good. It is not 5 stars but appears to have been 4 1/2 about 15 years ago. It is nice, clean, and could be 4 - 4 1/2 again with some upgrades.

We stumbled upon this hotel by accident and we are glad that we did.The room was very clean, the receptionist was very helpful, and the breakfast was good.

Dog friendly and great value for money

The Hawthorn Elkton served our needs for a reasonable price. Check-in was a little puzzling. Instead of the basic sign in, we were provided with a list of what/when/how regarding our room. The clerk quickly ran through the highlights and had me sign the form. She told me "an additional copy is available if you want one". While I understand the need for the form, its presentation implied that there were more things that we couldn't do during our stay vs what we could do. Upon review of the document, nothing on it was anything I didn't expect, but I would have preferred a more professional approach. The room itself was large and clean, however, the mattresses left a lot to be desired.

VERY CLEAN PRETTY, NICE PLACE TO STAY COULD OF BEEN A LITLE CHEAPER IN RATES

Arrive on Friday afternoon around 3 and didn't get checked in until 3:30. Apparently there was some mix up with the couple in front of us regarding wedding party reservation. But since there were 2 ladies at the front desk, why couldn't one take care of the next week and the other take care of the next customer? Seems like by the we checked in, the line was almost to the door.

Considering what we spent, the hotel and staff were fab! Breakfast was terrific, room was large and comfy(as was the mattress), location was convenient for what we needed. Room was not quite finished as far as being updated for Hawthorne Suites from Ameri Suites but it didn't really make a difference.

The suite was very nice. I was expecting a normal hotel room and got a mini kitchen, couch, desk. microwave and refrigerator. Beyond my expectation. Only negative I can think of is the rooms at the rear of the hotel face someones backyard and a giant mud pool.

I was very suprised by the size of the room for how inexpensive it was. The hotel is beutiful and the employees were very friendly and accomidating. Everything about my stay was extraordinary, and i would reccomend it to anyone who wants more quality for less money. I will definatly stay there again. I was impressed.

The hotel was exceptionally clean, staff very pleasant and helpful, and the room was spotless. The beds were very comfortable as well! We will definitely stay here again someday.

The hotel room was beautiful. It was spacious and very accommodating. It had all the comforts of home. It was clean and comfortable and the suite setup was ideal for just being able to relax and make hot tea or coffee and make popcorn in the microwave. I had a very comfortable warm shower in the morning, but late at night the hot water turned cold very quickly. Not sure why there wasn't adequate hot water. I liked that it was close to Cracker Barrel since that's one of my favorite places to eat breakfast. The hotel breakfast looked good, but I chose to eat at Cracker Barrel. If I'm in the area any time soon, I would definitely stay there again. It is a good choice and a great deal for the money.

price quality and location just what we were looking for highly recommend this hotel

Very friendly and clean, breakfast is a nice treat. Nice size rooms you don't feel like you are staying in a closet and can't wait to leave. Very close to Udel which makes it even more convenient. It is also a pet friendly hotel which makes my child who is living at Udel very happy knowing we can bring the dog to visit.

We went for the Labor day weekend and this hotel was outstanding. Covered all the bases.

I was expecting a normal, run of the mill hotel. I was a little concerned as I pulled into the parking lot of the hotel, as there is a Waffle House very close by. As soon as I walked in, I was taken back by how nice everything was. I was checked in immediately, and went to my room. The room was huge! It was very clean and comfortable. This is the kind of hotel that you could take a vacation to. Drive to surrounding areas and call this home base. I was very surprised and appreciative to have such a great stay. I will definitely stay again if I am in the area.

This hotel really suprised me. I was very pleased with everything. The rooms were very comfortable, the hotel crew were very friendly, and the it was very quite. Eventhough I never got the chance to eat breakfast, I heard it was not a continental breakfast it was buffett. Like me, just in case you miss breakfast there is a Cracker Barrel next door. I would defenetly stay here again.

I think the service and hotel were exemplary. The location is what I feel does not justify the cost.

The Hawthorn Newark Elkton was exceedingly clean, very comfortable, and reasonably priced for our overnight pit stop off Route 95. I recommend asking for a room in the back of the hotel since we heard noisy idling trucks in the parking lot across the street late into the night. Nothing fancy but much better than other hotels in this price range in the area.

Very nice hotel suite. Have stayed here before and will continue to stay here when I visit family in the area.

Very Spacious and comfortable. The only thing was a lack of places to eat in the area. Cracker Barrel, McDonalds were all.

I was placed on the first floor suite closest to the vending machine, stairs and side exit. It didn't make me feel safe as a woman traveling alone. Otherwise this was a nice hotel. I would recommend it to business travelers.

This was our first stay at Hawthorne Suites and we would highly RECOMMENDED it. Rooms are great size and also allow you to feel that you are NOT stuffed in a hotel room. Comfy chair to put your feet up to read, watch tv etc. Nice table and (2) chairs area to have breakfast or a snack, or coffee. Room was clean and fresh smelling. We would select this hotel first in any future travel plans that we make.

Very friendly, very clean, nice breakfast bar,no problems.

The hotel was clean and the rooms were nice. The only negative I have is that the toilet ran constantly and it made it diffucult to sleep. It was late when we checked in and early when we checked out. I reported it to the front desk and hopefully it will be fixed before the next guest checks in. There is nothing around except McDonalds and Cracker Barrel.

We only stayed one night but felt the hotel was a great value considering the price and amenities. There is a small indoor pool and workout room. Breakfast is also included. We will be doing business in that area in the future and plan on returning.

The kids loved the spacious suite - gave them lots of room to move after a long car ride. Not many choices for dinner in the area- but several menus in the room for places that delivered and the kitchenette made eating in the room fun for the kids, easy for travel weary parents. Staff was very friendly - they made fresh cookies for the kids. The breakfast buffet was great - eggs, waffles sausage were above the usual continental breakfast fare. The only complaint was that the pool was too cool to enjoy. Some money spent on warming the water would've made it the perfect stay.

I prepaid for 5 nights while visiting an extremely ill family member at a nearby hospital over the CHristmas holiday. On the night before I was due to check out, I returned to the hotel at about 11:30 at night and was told that I had overstayed and that my things had been taken from my room. They had actually entered my room, gone through my personal belongings and stuffed them into my suitcases and some shopping bags. Fortunately, I had my room confirmation and receipt in my coat and was able to show it to the person at the front desk. He at first refused to believe that I had prepaid and that I was not due to check out until the next day. He insisted that the situation was somehow my fault even though I could prove that I had paid in full in advance. It was not until I insisted that he call his manager that he returned my belongings and gave me a re-activated key to the hotel room. That same evening, I spoke to the general manager of the hotel and explained what had happended. She admitted that she was shocked at what had happened and that it was not in keeping with their practice(I would hope not). She told me that she would investigate the situation and that I would receive reimbursement. By the time I finished speaking to her and going through my personal belongings to see if anything had been stolen, it was approximately 1:00 a.m. and I was barely able to sleep because I was so upset about the hotel staff's outrageous conduct. I should also warn others that during the 5 nights at the hotel, the maid service arrived only twice (they later advised that they only provide limited service during the holidays), and a faulty smoke detector in the room beeped intermittently. I would have been willing to overlook those problems, but the wrongful eviction from my prepaid room was the last straw. I am still waiting for an explanation from the hotel manager.
