Grand Hotel San Pietro Relais & Châteaux - Taormina

Rooms are clean but I think the maid service was lacking at times. Dinner at the hotel is over-priced and had the waiters hovering over you ready to clear your plate even if you weren't done eating. Good location for going to town. Pool was ok, but nothing to brag about. There was a balcony with the room and a safe in the closet.

Our stay at the San Pietro in Taormina was one of our very best vacations ever. The hotel is located at the bottom of Taormina -- away from the busy city center. We enjoyed the walk up the stairs to town, but also used the complementary shuttle on occasion. The breakfast buffet offers something for everyone. The front desk staff were extremely friendly and helpful and offered suggestions for our excursions. The rooms and pool area were kept very clean and very attentive staff throughout the hotel. Experienced a very enjoyable and pleasant stay.

From the time we arrived, untill the moment we left, the staff we absolutley brilliant. They went out of thier way to know our names, where we were from, and always greeted us as friends as wel las guests. Our room was very comfortable, and the house cleaning staff came twice a day to check if we needed anything. The food in the resteraunt was very […] good as you would expect from a Michelin star establishment. Breakfast is on the terrace, is buffet style and of the highest standard. My only concern was that the coffee in Sicily is not as good as the coffee in Rome or Florence. All the same I'd go back in a flash. I loved it. Attractive setting with good views of the ocean. In April the swimming pool is closed and does not open until June. This was not declared prior to booking and I was disappointed to be told that we could "sit by the pool with towels to sun ourselves but the pool was closed otherwise" . The staff were friendly and courteous but the general atmosphere […] of the hotel was formal and regimented with rules clearly displayed. The food and drink in the hotel was very expensive and a 3 course dinner with wine for 2 would have cost at least 200 euros or more. The Americans we met told us that "the food was not good" . By contrast the breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. There was a complimentary bus shuttle to Taormina which was very welcome as the roads are very narrow and parking in town was difficult . Being January we did not use the pool but we loved our environment and the township and wonderful lovely restaurants to discover. The breakfast at the hotel was excellent and the staff very nice. We had one dinner at the hotel which was superb.

This hotel is quite understated, no fuss, just service. The restaurant menu is just that a proper reaturant menu. No pasta until the limited menu came on at 10 pm. Room service linited form 11 am to Midnight. We enjoyed our stay and would go back.

My husband and I stayed in the hotel for 5 nights. The service was great. However, I will not rate this hotel as a 5 star hotel. It has not been refurbished for a while. There is not much to choose from at breakfast. I am usually not the one to complain about food though. The location is great. Magnifique adresse, avec une vue imprenable sur la baie de Taormina. Les chambres donnant côté mer et piscine ont un balcon; les autres (dont la nôtre) donnent sur la colline de Taormina. Les vitrages ne laissent entrer aucun bruit; en l'occurrence, même en donnant sur la route on peut dormir la fenêtre ouverte (la chambre dispose bien sûr de l'air […] conditionné, mais il est agréable de pouvoir s'en passer !). Le buffet du petit- déjeuner est fabuleux, et servi sur la magnifique terrasse qui domine la mer; c'est un moment magique. Et l'apéritif, en début de soirée, sur la même terrasse, est un rêve. Le personnel est dévoué. Et nec plus ultra : l'hôtel dispose d'une navette qui vous amène au centre de Taormina et vient vous chercher, sur pré-réservation ! L'albergo é molto bello, il personale gentile e professionale, il ristorante ottimo. Il servizio di shuttle per il mare ed il centro del paese molto comodo. La camera aveva un balcone d'angolo con una vista magnifica sul mare e sul vulcano. Ci hanno anche lasciato la camera fino alle 15:00 per fare una doccia prima di andare all'aeroporto. Innanzitutto : il San Pietro sembra l'unico albergo di Taormina che non sia indicato con le numerose freccie che ci sono a tutti gli angoli della città. Camera relativamente piccola e niente di particolare; mobili di serie e materiale che sembra costoso ma lo è meno di quanto pare. L'estetica dell'albergo è classica ma non si sente nessuna storia in […] questo luogo. Tutto sembra fatto per soddisfare il gusto internazionale attuale. Il prezzo relativamente alto, particolarmente se facciamo i paragoni con altri luoghi di eccezione del nostro viaggio in Sicilia. Hotel elegante e raffinato, personale preparato, disponibile e cordiale. Servizio navetta gratuito da/per centro + spiaggia comodissimo e ben organizzato. Vista mare ineguagliabile. Giardino mediterraneo ben curato. Per noi una vacanza indimenticabile all'insegna di tranquillità e relax . Assolutamente da rifare il prox anno!!!

C'est un très bon hotel, le personnel est très à l'écoute et efficace. Les bons points sont l'état des lieux, la vue magnifique, le personnel, la mise à disposition de navettes gratuites pour aller en ville ou à la plage. Les bémoles sont le bâtiment qui fait un peu motel car c'est un bâtiment jaune et moderne pas très esthetique mais ce n'est aps […] très genant car la partie intéressante de l'hotel et la vue se trouve de l'autre côté, vers la mer. Ensuite, le nettoyage de la chambre laisse un peu à désirer, personnellement, il y avait beaucoup de poussière dans la notre, on pouvait voir qu'il ne passait pas l'aspirateur régulièrement. Le wifi est aussi un autre gros problème, le signal est très faible contrairement à ce qui est indiqué sur le site. Mon blackberry et mon ipod touch n'arrivait pas du tout à se connecter mais notre ordinateur oui donc bizarre... Il faut aller sur l'ordinateur dans la salle de lecture. La salle de gym aussi laisse vraiment à désirer: elle fait la taille d'une chambre, la clim marche mal, il n'y a pas d'eau à disposition et il n'y a que 5 machines. Mais si ces points ne sont pas très importants pour vous car c'est vrai, ils ne sont pas essentiels, le reste du service et les lieux sont dignes d'un grand hotel. Read more
