"Below expectations"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Having stayed at the Landis Hotel in Taipei, I expected Icon to offer the same service quality or better. After checking in, no one bothered to show us to our room and introduce us to the facilites available. I booked a harbor view room for an increased price. Sure there was a view of the harbor, if you looked to the left side. Directly outside my window was the rooftop of the mall. The concierge was helpful. I had one meal at the lobby cafe. My mom ordered a chowder in bread bowl. The bread came out toasted with green mold!! How did they miss that?! Killed our appetites immediately! I've read comments comparing Icon to the Four Seasons. One of our travel companions stayed there and I had an opportunity to rest in her room during our long afternoons in Hong Kong island. The hotel is impeccable and there was definitely no mold in our food.

"Hotel Panorama by Rhombus- Kowloon"
The staff, rooms, and amenities were awesome! We received a free upgrade to a suite. I enjoyed the happy hours and beautiful views from our room. Our kids enjoyed their spacious room as well. Highly recommend this place to everyone! Great location near the MTR.
In your description of this hotel you mention free wireless for Club Rooms. This is only true in the club area, not in each room. Being that I have an iPad, this was useless in my hotel room. Other than that, a 5 star experience. The veiw was unbelievable!

"Great Location and ComfortableBeds"
Location near MTR, within walking distance to Nathan Road and Star Ferry. Money changing station and laundry services across the street. View from roof is wonderful. I've stayed at some other hotels in Hong Kong and I like this hotel. Beds are comfortable and rooms a decent size for HK. I like this hotel and this is my 3rd stay here and I'll be back […] again if they have room when I need it. Only suggestion for them is to add some additional chairs to the lobby and include internet connection with the room rate rather than charge more for it. Read more

"The best I have ever stayed at."
Now first of all please pay the extra to stay at the club room or executive room because the service and extras you get are absolutely amazing. The best part of the hotel is the sky garden offering the best views of the harbor. 100% recommend this one!

"Good location with good views of the Harbor."
Overall this is a nice hotel. It is only 3years old but WiFi access is only available in the hotels lobby with only two chairs. The business center costs extra to use. However, if you are a tourist with no need of Internet or email access, this is a hotel for you.

"Smokers love this hotel"
We requested a non-smoking room, and were given a non-smoking room.....but it was filled with the stench of endless cigarettes, to the point that I woke up gagging throughout the night. We were told that "management could not guarantee that guests didn't smoke in the room, even though they weren't supposed to." We then checked out three other "non-smoking" […] rooms and found that only the final room was free of tremendous smoke stink. Management WAS very accomodating and tried to find us a tolerable room, but the pickings were slim. Book at your own risk. Read more
"Convenient"
Location is convenient and view from room on harbor side dylux room is great for the location of the hotel on Kowloon island not directly on the harbor. View on 40 floor is fantastic. Within quick walk to Nathan Rd., MTR and Star Ferry. Lobby needs improved. Only 2 chairs for the entire hotel. Isn't very welcoming and people we were meeting at the hotel […] commented directly to us that there were only 2 chairs and they had to stand and wait for us to come down when they alerted us they had arrived. Had issue with drain in bathroom 1st day when using the shower. Reported it to front desk upon leaving room for business that day. The same evening the issue still was not correct and I had to go back to front desk. Supervisor and engineer came to room and finally realized issue with drain and got it corrected. Food in the hotel is expensive. A lot of 7/11 locations and food establishments near by for much more economical options. Location was great for me because of the conveniece and I will stay in neighborhood again and possibily at this hotel depending on options at the time because of the location. However, I'd love the hotel to make some improvements to lobby and make it more welcoming for all. Read more
"Hotel Panorama in Hong Kong - In Tsim Sha Tsoi"
To be fair the hotel is located on a very cramped street therefore space is at a premium. The atmosphere in the lobby/reception leaves a little to be desired as there are only two chairs in the lobby. There are only three elevators and sometimes the wait can be up to 10 minutes. For guests who are paying the premium rate there is a club floor for guests […] which is nice. The "high brow" restaurant - AVA - is ok, the service is not the best and the restocking of breakfast items is infrequent. With respect to the premium rooms there is barely enough room for one person let alone two. If you are lucky enough to have an odd numbered room the view of Hong Kong Harbor is spectacular. Unfortunately this hotel does not hold a candle to the Sheraton or the Langham hotel around the corner. Read more
"Luxurious with great customer service"
They definitely know how to treat people. I don't love Hong Kong (I'm not a shopper and I don't like malls) but I loved staying in this hotel...they were extremely nice and efficient and responsive. the hotel is nice, clean and very comfortable. The AVA restaurant's food was good (used it for breakfast only). I would recommend this hotel to anyone. […] The room was small, but that wasn't a problem for me. Read more

"Hotel stay"
Room is tight as in most HK hotels. Hotel staffs were very friendly. Room were clean and comfortable, with great view of the Harbor. The surrounding of the hotel is not the best, its in the back streets, but conveniently located near the subway.

"Hotel Panorama, Kowloon, Hong Kong"
We enjoyed our stay at the Panorama. The staff was great and the room was not huge, but very nice with a great view of the harbor. The hotel is located a couple blocks from Nathan Road and the metro. Great for walking around. The executive floor package is a good value - provides free breakfast and snacks. Drinks in the evening. All in a lounge area […] on 39th floor with excellent views. We were able to make arrangements and get directions through the concierge desk and on the 39th floor. Very helpful. All good for us. Read more
The bedding was very comfortable and the room intip-top shape. The staff were helpful. We had only two qualms--the small size of the room and the high price for breakfast.
"Good Hotel in Convenient Location"
I booked a special rate thru hotels.com for a harbour view room with breakfast and in-room internet access included. The room was a bit smaller than I was expecting but it was clean, quiet, it had all the amenities I needed and it was comfortable. The view of the harbour was great. The staff were all very friendly, helpful and efficient. Special kudos […] to Eugene, the Club Floor Manager. Buffet breakfast at Santa Lucia was great with a lot of choice of hot and cold items. The hotel is in a great location and the taxi driver had no problem finding it, even though it would be easy to walk past the front entrance without noticing it. The area is not intimidating at all and I wouldn't describe Hart Ave as a back street. It's Hong Kong - most streets look like that! There are plenty of restaurants and shopping right around the hotel and it's very easy to get around. It's about 2 mins walk to the TST subway station, about 5 mins to Nathan Road and about 10 mins to the Star Ferry. I travel a lot with my job and believe me, I'm picky! But I would stay here again in a heartbeat and would definitely it. It was excellent value for the rate paid. Read more
Clean rooms of acceptable size; staff very helpful and courteous. Getting a view to the harbor is a plus.
"If location and view are important..."
I am not an avid traveler and am fairly easy to please. That said, here are some hopefully useful comments: - View was terrific (22nd floor, booked a gold room which they said was "upgraded" but I think the upgrade may have just been to a king size bed, and not to a higher floor, not sure though). The design is such that you don't have a flat window, […] but rather a corner in every room, so you sorta get a 180 degree view, most likely of the harbor. - King size bed was very comfortable and clean. - Room was quite small, very cramped. With king size bed and someone sitting at the desk you cannot get by to the window without crawling over the bed. Stayed at Regal Kowloon after the Panarama and the room there felt like a gymnasium in comparison. - Bathroom was fine. The toilet paper dispenser covers are obviously designed to cut an unsuspecting sitter. What were they thinking? - Towels are huge and comfortable, but so big that there isn't a great amount of room to hang 2 of them. - Internet is $100 HK per 24 hrs... I think it is sad that hotels charge for internet, but nearly all of those I looked at in HK did. Overall, I guess I would stay there again if I wanted the view again, but now that I have had it I would probably give another place a shot. It was fine, but not amazing. If you are looking for a good view, this place might be the cheapest to ensure you get one. Hope this helps... Read more
"Nice, clean hotel in convenient TST district"
We had a very pleasant stay at the Panorama. The room was big by Hongkong standards. Even our bathroom had the full height (ceiling to bathtub) view of the Hongkong harbor, albeit that it faced East but not the colorful Central area across the harbor. Hotel location is excellent. The nearest subway entrance is within a 5 minute walk. Nathan Road, where […] all the flashy shops are, is within a 10 minute walk. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, from the authentic local cafes and porridge joints to your Anglo-Australian watering holes. Hotel staff were polite, friendly and efficient. On the downside, the room had a faint smell of cigarette smoke that we couldn't get rid of, even though we asked for a non-smoking room (and were given one, since we could not find any ashtrays in the room). Also, the name of the hotel is probably too exotic even to local cab drivers. We took a cab from the airport. The driver found his way to Hart Ave, only to find that we were at the wrong end of Hart. We had to back up a one way street in the wrong direction, fortunately in the absence of traffic. Read more
"5 star service, excellent location and super clean"
This hotel is AMAZING! Great location right across the street is Happy cleaners who washed and folded our clothes from a long trip in 1 day. The service is excellent- they even provide power converters in the room. the views are amazing. we watched the light show from our room. Location is excellent, walking distance to the ferry and many shops and […] bars. Only 1 block from the metro so very convenient for transport to/from the airport or around the city. Neighborhood felt very safe- this is our second time staying here and we tried another hotel and cancelled and came back. Very clean and 5 star service for sure! Read more
"Convenient Location in TST"
Hotel was within walking distance to the TST MTR station. This made shopping, getting around, sight-seeing easy to do without having to pay the premium for top name brand hotels. The staff was helpful and offered insights to local attractions and gave me the tips to check-in my luggage in town before heading to the airport. The room was smaller than […] expected but had reasonable river-view. There is no free wireless in the hotel lobby/public area but the staff said if I was to visit the cafe and be a customer, I can get the WEP key to get on for free. Overall I would recommend the hotel for its price and location. Room and service were above average. Read more

"Decent hotel"
The one thing i liked about this hotel is the location. It's really convenient going to the MTR and it's a short walk too to Nathan Road. Bus stop for A21 bus going to and from the airport is quite near also. I'm pleased with the contemporary modern feel of the room. Room is neat, simple and have very nice window view. But if you put premium on room […] size for the amount you're paying then you're gonna be disappointed. We book a gold room expecting the room size to be bigger...would have book a silver room(even with a simpler room interiors) for much less the price if i only knew the room area are the same. There's no space to walk if you pull out the chair and use the writing table. Hotel room pics not that accurate..gold room is very small. The bath room is nice and modern. Shower area a bit cramped but overall it's clean. They have extra big towels(i think 6 ft or more in length) which at first makes you feel wow something new here but it might cause you inconvenience if you're average in height 5'9" like me. You'll have to take extra conscious effort for your towel not to touch the bathroom floor which is quite straining on your shoulder and hands..using it from head to toe and side to side is quite a handful for me and mind you its heavy for a towel and too thick to use if folded. Good concept on the towel but hope they change it to a shorter one. Also,be sure to check your things before checking out since my wife forgot to bring home a belt and makeup kit which i followed up thru email the day after checking out but sadly they replied no such items were found. I admit it should be our responsibility but still it's something negative with their housekeeping staff. Overall, It's still a decent hotel with a small lobby. Read more
"Great location, Good value"

"Good place with needed improvements"
The good: Gold & Platinum rooms have great harbor views you likely won't get bored of looking at. Rooms have most amenities you'd expect from a higher quality hotel - but not all. The location is great for people who want easy access to local bars literally around the block. It's also close to the harbor ferries & museums by 15 min walk. Though the […] lobby is actually on the 2nd floor, this ensures more security since one can not go to hotel room floors above without a hotel key card. In Asia, the G level means ground floor (not garage level like most American's may think). The not so good: Rooms are more run down than pictures of hotel show. My non-smoking room smelled like smoke (though they provided a portable air filter to clean air, worked pretty well). The hotel overbooked the nights I stayed and though I luckily got my room quite fast, others on line did not seem happy with their hotel staff responses. Read more
"stay there"
Very organized, upgraded on arrival to higher floor for a fee but included cocktail hour and breakfast. easy to get to everything.
"Great room for the money"
Quality of service and promptness was above anything I have ever experienced. View was magnificent to the bay, or what was left of it... New Hyatt building blocks 30% of it. With platinum room we got in-lounge check-in and all access to free evening snack with happy hour drinks and free breakfast for one. We had to pay for breakfast #2 which was a surprise […] but worth the 200HKD. Read more
"Dont be put off by location"
Excellent service, Hotel staff superb, rooms clean and tidy. Seems a bit off putting for new visitor as location in back street very intimidating but in reality not at all like that as most hotels the same. Very central foe everything and would go back again as first choice in Hong Kong.
"Great hotel and value!"
The location is great and a half block to a main subway station. Some bars and nightclubs in immediate area. Hotel is super clean and newer, views are some of the best around overlooking entire harbor and Hong Kong Island. Smaller rooms, but very efficient. Very nice daily breakfast on 38th floor with views. Would definitely stay here again.
"Good location and good harbour views"
Although in a great location, the hotel was a bit difficult to find for non-English speaking taxi drivers so I would recommend getting the address in Cantonese if possible before you leave the airport - maybe ask any HK Cabin Crew on the aircraft. Otherwise, the usual high quality HK service and a perfectly pleasant hotel which was good value for money […] other than the lack of wireless in rooms (for which the executive lounge on the top floor was offered - but at a steep cost - and the lounge wasn't always available, having meetings and conventions). I had an end-of floor room which had a bathroom overlooking the harbour to the south and Kowloon to the East which was excellent. Bed very comfortable and room very quiet. Read more

"Good location and fantastic views"
This hotel is in a good location. It is a short stroll to Nathan Road, the Star Ferry and it has a metro station close by. The hotel staff were very welcoming and attentive. We would certainly consider using this hotel on any future visit […] to Hong Kong Read more
"Close to MTR and shops"
Room is small but clean with great harbour view. Hotel is not well signed, some taxis do not know where it is.
overall rating a good and nice one but no coffee, sugar and cream refill everyday in our 2 rooms for our 5 nights stay....
"Nice hotel"
We stayed at a club room, VIP services were very good. Good choice to stay close to TST. If you get a good price if is definetely a good choice.
"We'll be back"
Although I haven't another Hotel to compare this too in Hong Kong this was an excellent choice. Very handy to everything, lovely room and excellent service. Choose the Executive Club for a little extra service and comfort, they really look after you !
"Small romms but good location"
Rooms at this hotel are always clean but small. If you are looking for a room in Kowloon this is a very convenient location.
"Hotel Panorama by Rombus in Hong Kong"
This hotel is very good in most respects except uthat it doesn't have WiFi in the rooms. That is unless you stay on level 37 where you may be able to access the WiFi from the hotel restaurant on level 38.
"very impressive good value for money"
Fantastic location but worth looking at other options if travelling with young children or elderly persons as the area is a bit rough at night due to surrounding bars.
