very well run and we have stayed many places around the worldGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good host/Bad host"
Naoni was very charming and helpful, Greg was blunt, abrupt, and sometimes rude. I thought the B&B was overpriced considering the location was a substantial 15 to 20 minute uphill walk from the town center and taxi's on the island are $8.00 a ride. -Rooms are lacking some basics, beds are old, and pillows were way past there useful life. -Bathrooms are outdated and slow sink drain. -Spent some time on the deck on a sunny morning after a raining day and got a very wet butt, the deck chair cushions, apparently they were on through the rain. Would not stay here again, lack of attention to detail, and it wasn't a relaxing environment.
"Third visit to Greg and Naoni at Hillside House."

We were thrilled to be able to visit Friday Harbor again and spend time at Hillside House. Greg and Naoni are friendly and gracious hosts. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the beds are very comfortable. The rooms are spotless and quite spacious. Greg makes delicious and varied items for breakfasts and there are always snacks and drinks available. It was lovely sitting out on the deck in the early am and in the lounge area at night after seeing many beautiful sites on the Island. We look forward to returning for another visit in the future.

We stayed here two nights, the room was fantastic. We were in the Vantana room, the bed was very comfortable, the room was outstanding and it has a private access to the parking area. Greg and Naoni were excellent hosts and very friendly. Greg makes a very good breakfast and made great suggestions of places to see on the Island. The house is split level, very nicely decorated and has a deck outside the dining & living rooms. The banana chocolate chip cookies are the the best we've had. I would recommend this B&B to anyone travelling to Friday Harbor.
"Beautiful room, good location, great experience"

We stayed at the Eagle's nest for our anniversary. The Eagle's nest is worth the extra bucks, it has a wet bar with hot/cold water, a massive hot tub, a massive, comfy kind bed, a small TV, a music system and tons of privacy! The views are very good too, and you can't hear anybody except at breakfast time. Tons of hot water and good water pressure. Breakfast was A-ok, a little too sweet for my taste, and I missed having fresh fruits, but they try their best. Their banana cookies were delicious, though! The B&B is a 10-15 min walk from Downtown Friday harbor, which wasn't bad at all in good weather. It is a good balance between proximity to downtown and a quiet place. You can borrow their binoculars for your bird watching trips, and they also have spare umbrellas. The hosts Greg and Naoni were very welcoming and highly informative. All in all, a great experience. Some feedback for the hosts: It's a beautiful, large bathroom with one drawback- there is no mood lighting, and you don't allow candles. Maybe install a dimmer switch or keep a few battery operated candles?

My husband, 17 yo daughter and I just finished spending two nights at this property. The property is a 1960/1970 converted split level, but, the owners have made the property work. Each bedroom has it's own theme, nice beds/bedding and some bedrooms even have their own private baths. The breakfast provided by Greg was hot, plentiful, and well done. Greg was helpful and very knowledgeable about the area and what to see and do. Even provided an umbrella (after-all, it is Washington) and binoculars. One day it was cold and rainy and we were able to spend the afternoon in the breakfast room playing games and doing puzzles that were provided in the common area. Now, there are a couple of things that made our stay less than stellar -- the house doesn't have central heating, so, there are small space heaters in each bedroom. Greg, when giving us the tour told us about the heaters, but, didn't explain that you have to crank them to the max to be able to keep your room warm. So, the first night, we slept cold. The room was reported to have a twin bed -- the bed was actually a built out window bench with a foam mattress. Since the windows in the bedroom were single panes, even with the extra blankets provided, our daughter didn't have the best sleep. But, we would probably visit the property again -- crank the heater and remember that the "twin bed" isn't really a bed.

I made a reservation approximately 2 to 3 months prior to the planned date of arrival; I booked a room for three nights. As I was coming from San Diego, it takes some planning to make the trip. Approximately 7 days prior to my scheduled arrival date, a family emergency occurred and we were forced to cancel the vacation. I immediately called hillside house to notify them that we would be unable to complete vacation. Even with this amount of notice, the owner still wanted to charge us for the full three days. They eventually settled to charges for two full days plus a 10% cancellation fee. In my business life I have traveled extensively for over 25 years and have never seen a cancellation policy is strict. My advice is, if you ever make a reservation here be sure to read the cancellation policy, as they do not give an inch.

Me and my fiance spent 3 days at the bed and breakfast. Greg and Naoni are great hosts. Not only were the rooms clean and breakfasts delicious, but we were given expert advice on things to do on the island and places to eat lunch and dinner. I'd recommend this place to anyone visiting the island.

What a pleasant stay! Greg's breakfasts were delicious and while we ate Nanoi gave us travel suggestions that all turned out to be spectacular. We enjoyed the places she recommended! Our rooms were especially comfortable and quiet. Jennie who is short had a nice stretch to get up onto the bed in the Captain's Quarters!! It is a wonderful place to stay if you are looking for a quite B&B and the walk to town is close to many nice little shops. The cookies were delicious and hit the spot!!!

The hosts were extremely helpful with travel suggestions and the food was extraordinary. Greggs pancakes were the best I've ever had! The common area view was also exceptional. We called last minute. This 200 character minimum is silly.

We spent 4 days at the Hillside, and what a great place. Our hosts were wonderful and informative. Great knowledge of the island and various activities. The food was awesome every morning. The walk to and from town was a little further, but well worth it. It only adds a few extra minutes to the walk. On the other hand, it is very close to the airport and M&W auto rentals! Cannot go wrong here!
