"Golf (husband) - Fluff and Buff (wife)"
Great golf course, first class reception by hotel and spa staff and excellent lakeside view room. It is worth upgrading to a suite with lake view. Taboo is one of the best golf courses I have ever played. Clubhouse reception, personal warm up area on range and attentive staff. Played early morning mid week tee time and had the course to myself. Very […] tough par 3s. Great Muskoka course. Took a nice mountain bike tour. My wife spent several hours in the spa and loved it. Kayaking and tennis. Lots to do. From kayaking, to the campfire and making s'mores, to hiking the surrounding trails, there was enough to keep us busy for the two days we were there. Had a beautiful lake-view room, great weather, and a beautiful sunset. Staff were very friendly and attentive, great service.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"A Fantastic Experience"
My stay at Taboo Resort was wonderful and memorable. It was intended as a weekend getaway for my boyfriend's birthday, we were waiting for the weather to warm up and we were very lucky to have beautiful weather the entire time. The room/view was breathtaking. We had a lakeside room, which was beautifully decorated and extremely clean and new. The morning […] was especially wonderful for the view, we ate breakfast on our balcony, it was very peaceful and relaxing - exactly what we were looking for. One of the main highlights of our stay was the dinner we enjoyed. It was the first night of the Culinary Theater, in which a chef prepared a 7 course meal in front of us and explained each detail of the ingredients and process. All of the meat, fish, vegetables, and other food were locally sourced from around the area, and other places in Ontario and Canada. That was one of the coolest things about the whole dinner experience, I really never knew the amazing flavours and food Ontario had to offer. The chef prepared some of the most delicious plates that I have really ever tasted. I ate every single morsel that was put in front of me and it included salmon, Arctic char, duck, and pork. All meats and fish I have never really given a chance but the way they were prepared was at the highest flavour level. I will be back as soon as possible. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing romantic getaway - Taboo met every expectation I set for it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great getaway from the city"
Myself and my boyfriend had a fantastic stay at Taboo,we stayed for 2nights- defiantly will be back! Everyone at Taboo where so friendly and helpful, valet, bar staff, the guys working in the recreation centre. We where so thrilled with everything, our favourite activity for the weekend was snowmobling, the guy working in the recreation centre even brought […] us out on the frozen lake with the snowmobile which was such a great experience. Our only problem we found was the menu in the fireside bar it didn't have many options and when we did choose food, the portion sizes where extremely small, saying that it was delicious!! Thank you Taboo for a great experience. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Would NEVER go back."
On first glance this resort looked peaceful and inviting. We checked in at 4 pm. At first we liked the look of our room, but was disappointed that there was no mini fridge. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom a nice large space. The balcony is small, but the view is breathtaking. Unfortunately they had smeared some kind of anti-bug goo all over […] the chair arms so we could not sit in the chair in a relaxed style. We were upset during the night as we could not control the temperature in the room. It was way too hot and we could do nothing to fix it. They were so short staffed it was insane. We called about a half hour after checking in to book a massage and we were told that they had NO appointments available that day or the entire next day. Seeing as this is a SPA resort, we were extremely dismayed and went down to speak to them. When we got down there we were confronted by three of the most snotty women I have ever met. One of them telling us that they just had a cancellation for the next day, which I found very interesting seeing as we just spoke to them not five minutes earlier on the phone. I booked this one appointment for my boyfriend and although he said the massage therapist was great, he was disgusted at the service of the front desk. We ate dinner one night in the Elements restaurant - way overpriced for a tiny portion of food. For over $250 a night we felt robbed and will NEVER ever go to this resort again. Check out the other fine resorts. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

We had a great time, even though the timing wasn't right. The winter activities were done and the summer activities hadn't started yet, but we were able to go on short hikes with our 3 year old twins. The scenery is beautiful and Taboo is a wonderful spot. The hotel staff were friendly and the rooms clean. We love the contemporary look of the hotel […] rooms. Will definitely be back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Anniversary Weekend at Taboo"
My husband and I checked in to the resort on March 22nd and stayed 2 nights. It was our 6th anniversary and GM of the hotel was very nice to treat us with dinner at Elements Restaurant, a bottle of wine and a cheese platter at room with a handwritten congrats card. He also wrote a portion in my mothertongue which is Turkish. How thougtful. All staff […] was aware that it was a special time for us, we were served complimentary deserts and drinks almost ever day during our stay.We stayed at room 429, really big room, facing lake with a seating area facing the firecplace. We also booked a couples massage at the spa with registered massage therapist and they did a fantastic job. We are definitely going back to the resort in summer as it seems like there are even more recretional activies in summer. Highyl recommend to anyone - just reserve one of the premier lakefront rooms. Those are the best ones and recently renovated. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This resort is beautiful, clean and the room we stayed in was completely renovated and modern. We stayed in one of the Premier Lakefront rooms and had a spectacular view of the lake from the 3rd storey. With a spa on site, my boyfriend treated me to a choice of the packages they offered. We will definately visit again.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Mid-Week Business Visit"
My experience is somewhat unusual as I stayed at taboo during the week of Jan 7-11, 2013, and it was very quiet. However, my room was beautiful. The hotel accommodated a 2pm check-out. The staff were very attentive and accommodating. The resort was VERY quiet, but that was likely due to the time of year and my mid-week stay. I would love to go back […] when I have an opportunity to participate in the activities offered. FYI, food portions in the Lounge are large. A pizza easily feeds two people, and the salads are enough for a full lunch. I definately want to go back on a leisure trip instead of business. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Although it was a bit of a drive to Gravenhurst, Taboo Resort was well worth the drive. The room had a gorgeous view of Lake Muskoka, and was very large and well appointed. The contemporary decor was current and lovely. The service was outstanding--all staff were very friendly. The food was great except for the lunches--the menu was limited. The wine […] prices were very high. The spa was exceptional as were the staff of the spa. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
My girlfriend and I stayed here for our four year anniversary. The view was the best part from our balcony that was attached to our suite. It was also the place where I proposed to her, and now we are happily engaged.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

We stayed in a stunning two bedroom platinum suite and enjoyed the beautiful lakeview. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. We had an amazing day at the spa and enjoyed the wine tasting. We had dinner in Elements and the service was great! I would definitely recommend to friends and family.
"Great resort....but a few suggestions for improvement"

We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful resort setting, the lake walk, the pool and all the welcoming staff. We attended a beautiful wedding at the boathouse last weekend. We were impressed with the quick friendly service we received getting cart transportation on the property whenever needed. The rooms were well equipped and comfortable. However, better lighting would help as they are rather dark, especially the closet space area. We were surprised not to have a full length mirror in our room and especially missed having one while getting ready to attend the wedding. Every hotel I have ever been to has had one. When I mentionedd the lack of a full length mirror to reception, they just confirmed that the room did not have one and did not offer a solution. At breakfast we asked to order a la carte, but the waitress went & checked, returning to tell us only buffet was available. We later learned that others from our group were allowed to order a la carte that same morning. When I asked for an egg sunny side up at the egg station, I was told only omlettes could be made....a rather odd restriction at an egg station. When I asked for yogurt, I was told they did not have any....another odd thing at a buffet breakfast. The coffee always arrived lukewarm and we had to ask for a hot one. In general, we found the breakfast staff , although very pleasant, rather inexperienced and not knowing much about service. The above are things that could be easily fixed to make guests' stay more pleasant.

We rented a chalet for two nights and were taken back by the beauty of the accommodations and facilities. Staff and everyone there were great. I really enjoyed the golf, clay tennis courts, saltwater pools, and most of all Lake Muskoka. Come up to Taboo, you will love every minute!
"Nice rooms and bar view - service need to improve"
09/07/14 Miss_PSingapore Singapore
We stayed here for 2 nights when playing golf at the nearby course (very nice by the way!). We found the rooms very nice, although a bit boring with a view to the parking. The service in the restaurant was really bad (the young servants are not to be blamed, the whole organisation around how to serve food felt inefficient and not guest friendly). We missed tee off two days in a row as the staff took +45 minutes (we told the staff we was in a hurry but still they didn't deliver our food in a more urgent manner. (I found the selection and food you could choose also was way to little for a breakfast by the way..)

My husband and I have just come home from a five day get away at the Taboo Resort and Spa. It was excellent from start to finish. The staff are friendly, courteous and can't do enough to make your stay pleasurable. We loved swimming in the heated pool and had fantastic weather everyday. The gym was great, I went every morning and enjoyed my workouts. The food is excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed breakfast. Our car was parked by very nice valets and there was never any waiting period. Very courteous and efficient. We'll be back.

My mother took me away for 3 nights and upon arrival the boy at the gate didn't have us on his list. We found the uniforms very unprofessional and messy. They told us that valet parking was included only to discover upon checkout we were charged an additional 25.00 per night. Then we were informed upon check in that the first night stay was already charged to our visa. The rooms were very nice but no one showed us where to go until we asked and then we were escorted directly. The lake view was amazing but the little balcony should have been swept daily for bugs and webs. The maid service was friendly but there were never enough face cloths and the soap and cream bottles and kleenex was not replaced daily and the floor wasn't slept after a day at the beach. The bar glasses were not replaced nor was the sugar for our coffee daily and there were no herbal tea's considering the room was 365 plus 25 a night. There were beautiful cozy robes in our room but no slippers like the room beside us. The one night my mother and I had dinner booked in the beautiful restaurant we waited at the bar and ordered a drink and the bartender was extremely rude to us when we asked if he had any gf vodka and what kind did he have and he informed us that he didn't know only to discover later that he found some. He was extremely rude and demeaning. The pool side restaurant staff was not knowledgeable about their menu and were inconsistent as to what we w got each day. However the staff in charge of the water sports was very patient and knowledgeable but under staffed and the wait lines were to long upon check out. We pointed out our concerns when asked about our stay and nothing was done about it except to say they will make a note. Would be go back since this resort was highly recommended to us by friends, absolutely not.

This place is awesome, beautiful inside and out the spa is amazing with great staff! Great food, I went with a friend to get a way, expensive but worth it! We loved it! The trails are nice, (tip : they don't head back to the hotel, a 3k walk will be 6k after turning back! )
"Beautiful resort but.... lacking customer service"
09/01/14 Renzo C Toronto, Canada
For the money we spent I was expecting more. We arrived on a Wednesday at 3pm, 1 hour prior to check in and were told our room MIGHT be available by 4pm time. They would do their best but the previous guests of our room requested a late check out. We finally got our room at around 5pm. When it was our turn to check out on Friday… we called early in the morning and also requested a late checkout… even if it was only half an hour. We got a flat out NO!. They couldn't do it. Needless to say I was very disappointed. Since our check in was delayed we asked them if they could hold our bags so that we could join the 4pm Black Bears myth and Legends tour. They said fine… and off we went. Another disappointment… we arrived at the activity center for this tour only to be told the instructor had called in sick and the tour was cancelled. Everyone gets sick… and that's understandable but you would think… that the front desk would have been updated with the cancelation??? Was so upsetting to rush our way to the 4pm show… for no reason!! While soaking in disappointment we decided to book a pontoon boat cruise for the next morning at 10am. We were really looking forward to it. We get up early the next morning… have an early breakfast in preparation for the cruise. We head down to the docks at 9:55 … and another BIG disappointment. Apparently, the boat was out of commission. We were told by the folks running the docks that the boat died on the lake yesterday and they had to rescue it. They were hoping for a fix by the weekend! Great!... we were only there until Friday. But what irks me even more… do you think the front desk would have known that the boat was out of commissions? We went to them afterwards and told them and we got a "sorry we had no idea" from them. I was fuming. The staff are pleasant and friendly … but there seems to be a lack of communication between the different depts. Also… we booked on a special package but when we checked in no on confirmed or reminded us of the perks of the package. All the perks that came with the package we had to remind them so we could get them. On a positive… as I mentioned… staff are friendly… rooms are modern and clean. The AC in our room is in an awkward location… right next to one of the beds at head level. The person sleeping at that end (me) had restless sleeps.
"The most beautiful location; stay there!"

From the minute we arrived we were impressed. Friendly Valets parked the car, reception were efficient and professional, we were very happy. And then...We walked into our room and were stunned by the beauty of our view and thrilled with the room which was on the 4th floor. Everything was clean, modern and well kempt, It was perfect. There are 3 pools, the family pool is fantastic if you have kids with you; if not there is a much quieter pool by the tennis courts, all heated. The lake is wonderful and the water sports fantastic. There is a beach and plenty of Muskoka chairs dotted everywhere around the lake and beach, there was always somewhere beautiful to sit and relax. The food in the Fine Dining restaurant is very good as is the service; the somellier is very knowlegable if you're not sure of your wines. Try to get a table by the window, sunset is magnificent. Astronomy evening was fun, being driven up to the golf course in buggy's at 10pm was an adventure. My husband said the Mountain Bike Trek was great. The forest walks were glorious although ENSURE you spray yourself, we didn't and ended up with mosquito bites and a tic bite, which has resulted in Lymes!! The staff were the most friendly and helpful than anywhere else we have been, they were always willing to help and advise. I would not hesitate to recommend this resort and location.
"great location - has everything but needs better team"

Hotel location , facilities and food are amazing - very undersold on website. the food is great across all outlets - the heated pool is perfect with kids and the lake area has all the facilities you need with a big beach and a lot of support from water sport staff. Staff around resort are mostly students who panic at new simple question (e.g can I call the spa from the pool area?) also the outdoor resturant staff are very unequipped to deal with long queues and on Sunday it a recurring theme we liked the lake and the relaxing feel of hotel - great with kids - bikes are free
