Stayed 3 nights while visiting a friend who lives in the area; she stayed there with me. She said she would live there if possible as she'd like to live on the beach. The first room we had on 3rd floor had a large balcony with side ocean view But it also had a huge connected concrete area which collected anything dropped from above, not good to look […] at. Also the patio doors would not lock & she saw a man standing on the balcony or skirting to it shortly after we arrived, so we asked for a different room & were assigned to it after someone else left the next day. Both rooms had older comforters atop the beds, but beds were comfortable. Had very small refrigerators. Being on the beach, there was water on the floors of elevators & lobby area & spilled liquids. When I reported a large area in elevator that was not water, it did get cleaned up right away. They did send someone to clean the extension off our balcony in first room right away. A front desk person told my friend that ownership had been changed recently & Sun N Sand would be improved. There was live music or a DJ each night in the outside bar area. Also a restaurant with breakfast, lunch, dinner. We only ate brkfst there before leaving the last a.m. - not bad prices, good flavor, a menu to chose from. We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and 5 days. The location is great, the service sucks to say the least and the parking is horrible if you drive a truck or suv. The first level is for large vehicles yet there were double the amount of cars parking in the first level. I drove around trying to find a spot and ended up having to wait for a young adult […] and his friends to move so I could park. I told the front desk and they said it's elderly parking as well, it was an extreme inconvenience because a car parked so close to my truck, I couldn't get the door open to put my daughter in her car seat. I've been to quite a few beach spots, and this was the oddest. First off, all the hotels in 'south' myrtle are located together. It is just a long strain of hotels. There are not very many bars, restaurants, or shops within walking distance. I found this inconvenient. There was a waffle house that was just a 10 minute walk and an McDonalds but not much […] else. I'm used to the hotels being in the middle of the fun, but this street was dead zone at night (which some people may like). The hotel clerk was sufficient, talked really fast but decent enough. The room was nice, no real issues within the actual room. The view from the balcony was nice. The hotel was right on the beach, which was convenient. The pool sucked. The sun only hit this pool I swear from the hours 11a-noon. It was always shady, therefore absolutely freezing! It would be nice to be heated or something. And the hot-tub was not even hot, we went in at night and could only last a few minutes because we were freezing. Right outside our balcony was disturbing though because it was the trash central. There were having problems with the trash and were out there playing with garbage. It was dirty and gross. All you could see behind the pool was garbage everywhere, nobody wants to see that. "Could have been much better."
The room we requested which was supposed to have been a standard Ocean Front the Sun N Sand Resort did not reserved it for us, they said it was Hotel.com fault, so they moved us to a Ocean View room which was a side view.The day we arrived the Sun N Sand Resort did not have Hot Water so we could not take a bath, or shower, the phones did not work, because […] it didn't have a cord connected to it. "Decent hotel but highly disappointed"
I checked into Sun & Sand on May 21st. When I arrived (6pm), a front desk female said that a pipe had busted so there was no water in the room but it was being worked on & would be back on in 45mins. She made it sound like a for sure thing. Well we left & came back around 9pm. Lots of people were at the front counter & calling the front desk asking […] when would the water be back on. I heard one woman say another half hour & someone else said by midnight. I decided to ask someone myself & was told that the manager had drove to Columbia to get the parts needed & would be back & everything should be resolved by noon the next day. He also said that the cold water was running in some rooms but no hot water. Well we went to the room to clean up & there was a tiny bit of cold water coming out of the bathroom faucet. It soon came to a halt. We had no way to clean up after driving 5hrs to get to the beach. The next day at 11:30am I went to bathroom, again no water. We were not able to clean up after being in the sand earlier that morning. The toilet in our room needed to be flushed and so did the ones in the lobby. I wish staff would have been up front & said we don't know when the water will be on. I would have never checked in & asked for refund immediately. After calling the manager & leaving messages, he never called back. I had to go down to the lobby to get a response from someone. The hotel was not very clean and we had no running water for about a day and a half and no hot water for 2 whole days. The hotel did very little to accommodate us. Very disappointed with this visit. "Not What I Expected"
The pictures are always different from what you actually get. The comforters were very dirty, and had plenty stains on them. The toilet seat was all scratched up.While staying I thought I would just suck it up. But then a bug woke me up out of my sleep from crawling on me. I searched for it, couldn't find it.
