It was fine for my purpose. I would have liked to go in the pool but I was uncomfortable that people in reception could look in on the pool and Jacuzzi area.

The staff were very friendly but this doesnt make up for the condition of the hotel. The room was tired, the carpet stained, the window lock broken and the bathroom was grimy. I was surprised to see the hotel had an overall rating of less than four. The Old Mill is excellent. Lovely staff, very good room and spotlessly clean. We only had breakfast, but this was also very good. Location excellent, in woodland, with old mill dams adjacent and easy walking distance from Ramsbottom, with its good shops, pubs and restaurants. […] Only one moan - both evenings the hotel held a function with the music too loud. Why don't hotels [the Old Mill isn't alone] think of other residents and room them as far away from the 'music' as possible, or insist the noise is moderated? Generally I avoid hotels on Saturday evenings for this reason, but couldn't this time. If it wasn't for this, I would have rated the hotel a five overall. Read more

Our room in the hotel was comfortable and I slept really well. We enjoyed using the gym and relaxing in the pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. The hotel was really handy for walking paths and also for Ramsbottom's main shopping street. Breakfast on our first morning was good. We loved the location of the Old Mill, close to the village cenre, close to all hiking routes. This hotel is dog friendly, has appropriate leisure facilities after a long day's hike and serves a good breakfast + buffet. Our room was spacious and quiet - a very comfortable stay indeed.

This hotel was decent for the money but it was a bit far off the beaten path and the internet was HORRIBLE. I do not reccomend this hotel if you need reliable internet service. I stayed for 3 days and all 3 days there were problems with the internet. The response from the front desk was to go to the bar and use the internet which did have a good connection. […] Since I had business to take care of online I got set back 3 days because of this hotel when my reason for booking it was to get caught up with some business. Anyway, they did switch me rooms after my second request and the second room had the exact same problem. when they say free complimentary internet service throughout the hotel... DO NOT believe it. As for breakfast, it was good but the staff needs to change the tablecloth a little more regular. Someone else's crumbs from a meal before me were laying on the tablecloth. Once again, decent value for the money but 3 days is far too long to stay here. I suggest this hotel's star rating by decreased to a 2 star maximum. (Please note: This stay was about my 155th to 158th day in a hotel this year. I know 2 star from 3 star hotels. This hotel is far from a true 3 star hotel.) Read more

Stayed there when on business as close to the office. Beautiful location, but on a steep hill so if you were on a leisure trip you wouldn't want to walk to get a paper. Food times not flexible unless you can eat sandwiches. Use of small pool only allowed after signing to say you've never sneezed. Very over the top compared with other hotels. The conversion […] of this mill into a hotel has been done in such a way that, for some rooms, you must track upstairs, through a bar, up more stairs and down several corridors. I would stay there again because it was a convenient location and clean. However, as a leisure hotel there are better and as there is no lift you need to be able bodied. Read more

Hotel was ok , but got a shock when charged for breakfast when l thought this was included . £ 16.50 each !!!!! have had cheaper at 5* hotels , The room we had was ok but had a pump running 24/7 outside so we had to keep windows closed. Decoration is very dated , needs a complete up-grade.

Hotel was just fine for our needs. A clean quiet room with a nice view, and a short walk from where we needed to go. Small gripe, but we made one additional request to normal though, and it was a little disappointing to get no reply. As was carrying my case up three flights of stairs.
