We enjoy staying in this hotel because it feels like San Francisco. We can get anywhere in Union Square area on foot within 10 minutes. Public transportation gets us to the Wharf and Ghiradelli square with ease. The hotel is clean. The rooms are small but we don't spend much time there anyways and was perfect for two people. In a great spot, very adjacent to the trendy Union Square and the Westfield with tons of high-scale stores. The hotel itself was rather small. My room was small as well, but since I was just one guest, it was fine and it worked. The bed was a little stiff but the sheets were clean and nice. I had a room that faced into the street in front, and at night when I was going to sleep, I would open the window. The noise that radiated from the street was TERRIBLE. I could hardly sleep!! Convenient location. I like being near Union Square. The room was small, however it met my needs as a single traveler. It would not be satisfactory if my wife was traveling with me. My one disappointment is the bathroom. It was small. The sink was poorly designed, too small and did not meet my expectations.

One […] set of curtains in my room were falling off the rod and after the front desk had closed I discovered that my toilet was not getting any water - so it would not flush. While I paid for two nights I left after just one night. While checking out I mentioned the broken toilet and that I would only stay in the place one night but the fellow at the desk couldn't have cared less. I recently stayed at The Touchstone Hotel on a business trip and it was everything I was looking for - a clean, safe hotel to sleep and shower in for a budget price. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and made great suggestions about getting out and about in San Francisco. The location is excellent, with close proximity to Chinatown and many […] other shops, restaurants and tourist attractions. The BART station is less than a 10 minute walk away. I felt safe in the area, even at night. IMO, the rooms were a little bit small compared to the average room size in the "brand-name" hotels, but this didn't really bother me, as there was still plenty of space to store my stuff and move around. Having free wi-fi was definitely a plus. I would definitely stay at The Touchstone again on my next trip to San Francisco and would definitely recommend this hotel to others. Read more
