The hotel is most charming, the staff very kind and generous, and the location unbeatable. We plan to go back and enjoy a few more days there.

It is our second stay in this hotel. Last time I was there in June 2011 and liked it very much. This time our room was much smaller ( N 204 - really small!). However, my main complain is about the room's temperature. The heating system was lukewarm and therefore they put an extra heater in the room. Given the fact that it was minus 18C outside, it was […] not sufficient to warm the room to a comfortable temperature. I think the whole hotel is not well protected from the cold weather outside, perhaps because it is old building restored and it is not possible to insulate it well. Our room was fine - not huge, but suited us just fine. The bed was comfortable, it was quiet, and the hotel supplied robes and slippers. Love that. The only strange thing was that the shower was not walled off from the rest of the bathroom - there was only a curtain that did not go all the way to the floor - so the whole bathroom got wet during a shower. […] This was not a big problem. The best part of this hotel is the location - it's right in the middle of Old Town - and also the staff. Beautifully renovated and maintained property in a fantastic location in the heart of Old Town. Each room is unique and the hotel overall has great charm and character. Staff was always friendly and helpful, and the room was cleaned well each day. It includes a great breakfast served in their limestone cellar, a fantastic way to start each day. very nice hotel right in the heart of Old Town. Modern design was interesting in the old building setting. Room was spacious, bed was large and very comfortable. Clawfoot bathtub in room was nice, but no shower. Access to a very nice sauna, which can be reserved for private use. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Everything about the hotel is great. I stayed at 2 different rooms and they are all great. Great location that is 1/2 block from the Old Towne Square and wonderful breakfast. We were staying in the hotel for two nights at Christmas. We got a Christmas sock with small present in the morning with invitation to join Santa in the hotel bar. The situation of the Merchant's House Hotel was excellent. It was so close to the old town square which in December is a delight with the Christmas Market stalls, the snow and all the festivities.We were able to relax in lovely comfort and enjoy very good food.

An inviting and cosy hotel in a great location next to the main square and opposite the Ale House. The staff were friendly and very curteous at all times. Breakfast was good and plentiful and the bar area comfortable and most importantly warm ! A spontaneous vodka tasting session with the Manager helped us through Christmas afternoon. This hotel was absolutely gorgeous - our suite was complete with contemporary furnishings that were creatively and thoughtfully put together. The actual hotel is an old merchant's house, which is evident in the beautiful wooden beams in the ceiling, painted with designs. The private sauna was superb- definitely reserve it!

The hotel is located in the old town just two minutes walk from the old town square. The staff is friendly and all speak a very good English. Our room was small but ok for two nights. The only disappointing thing was the mattress which was damaged and therefore we got little sleep. We raised this with the reception staff who said they will look into […] moving us into another room. However, they never got back to us and as we stayed only for two nights we decided not to raise it again. The breakfast is ok (selection of hot and cold buffet) but nothing special. This is a lovely hotel in the centre of Tallinn's old town. However there were a few dampeners for us, that made this only an okay place to stay instead of a great place. 1. There was no wifi reception in our room (if i stood in one corner of the room holding my phone over my head i could sometimes get one bar) 2. Hotel is just round the corner from the main square in the old town but although it dates back to the 16th century the building has a definite lack of atmosphere. The only draw back to this hotel is that there is no lift. Although staff were very helpful and carried luggage upstairs for us, you need to be aware that there are lots of stairs to climb!
