The hotel is for the budget-minded. It is not a luxury hotel nor is it in an exciting part of town but it is fairly close to a metro station and get around Paris in a jiff. I would stay there again but, for those interested in the sights and sounds of Paris, you´ll have to take a metro to get to the postcard side of Paris.

I've read about Paris hotels so I wasn't surprised, however, I wasn't happy either. I am not one of those people that needs the moon and stars when I'm traveling, especially from a hotel. For the most part we dont spend much time in our hotel when we're traveling. Now I do want to mention that when they do clean your rooms, and I use that term loosely, it's far from what should be done. After a few days I started to become convinced that they didn't change your towels, that they just refolded them and hung them up. Now for a person staying here for 10 days that is not appropriate. So I did a little test that let me know afterwards that they were not changing the towels daily. Secondly, They were slacking so bad that they allowed me to run out of toliet paper. Yes! That's exactly what I want to do, go downstairs to the front desk and have to request more toliet paper. Then upon checking out the guy at the desk had no idea what he was doing. I handed over my key expecting to be able to head out as I paid fully in advance. He tells me he's not sure whether or not I've paid. You have got to be kidding me! Not even going to go on a tangent about how tiny the rooms were. Now I get it, in Europe they just do things a little smaller then we do over here in the States, and I can handle that. But this room, was the smallest thing I've ever seen. Literally you can't move the desk chair because it pushes up against the bed. The bathroom door doesn't fully open because it hits the night stand. Oh and their wanna be view, really? No matter which room you stay in you do not get some amazing view that they try and sell in their hotel description. The double room was incredibly small and bathroom extremely moldy. Water gets all over the whole bathroom and toilet if you take a shower If you have two people staying in a double bed forget about getting any sleep. Barely enough room for one person. The area is not very safe with a lot of drinking and gambling going on all day and night and noisy if you open your window to let the moldy air out from the room. Finding the hotel was difficult as it's located on an out of the way backstreet but once it's found, it's very easy to maneuver around the city thanks to the nearby metro stations. One thing that did irk us was they didn't respect the Do Not Disturb sign. Jet lag and early morning sightseeing made us want to take afternoon naps and even with the sign, they knocked and when we did not answer they opened the door and changed the towels. The sign is pretty much worthless. The only channels you get are BBC World News in english or Arabic but that was actually interesting because we learned a lot about what was going on and when talking with other vacationers at fancier hotels we found that the same went for them too for the most part. Good Hotel, value for money and 50 meters from the metro, but no WIFI!! they have a free Apple computer on the net. However for those with their own PC there is MacDonalds on the corner with free WIFI. The biggest and reputedly the cheapest antique markets in Paris are held just up the road Friday till Monday.

My wife and I recently stayed at Hotel Iliade Paris XVIII for 4 nights, on September 3-7. The hotel itself was clean for the most part. The elevator was very tiny. It hardly fits two people without any luggage. When we were checking in and out of the hotel, we had to take two trips in the elevator, first I went with my luggage, and then my wife with […] her luggage. The room was surprisingly clean, but very small. We got two twin beds, and that what I recommend for two people. Don't get one queen bed, because it will be very uncomfortable stay. The shower was the worst part of our room. It is very small stand up shower with a curtain. It's so small that curtain kept sticking to my body while I was taking a shower. The curtain drips water on the bathroom floor, and if you are not careful, you will have a puddle on the bathroom floor by the time you are done taking a shower. I just used one of the towels to clean the puddle. There is very little shelf above the sink in the bathroom, for hygiene items. But, it was not enough to hold all of your hygiene items. The hotel staff was friendly and courtieous. All of them speak little bit of English. My wife wanted me to borrow iron from the front desk, since there are no irons or ironing boards in the room. So, I went every morning and asked them for iron. Sometimes they gave me just the iron, and sometimes they gave me iron and ironing board. Checking in and out was very easy, since we already prepaid through hotels.com. Room service does pretty good job cleaning rooms, but they come early sometimes, around 9-10am. This can be a little too early for people. The neighboorhood where the hotel is located is kinda sketchy. But, we usually got back to the hotel around 1am, and we felt safe walking around in that neighboorhood. There is a lot of arabic fast food restaurants in that neighboorhood. My husband and I stayed in this hotel during our honeymoon. We were extreemly unhappy and even called around to try to find a new hotel to stay in. The room itself was small with very old, rattered furnishings, a small cramped shower, and uncomfortable bed. The people at the front desk were somewhat helpful. The staff at this hotel DOES NOT GIVE A CRAP. They were extremely rude and unaccomodating. Also, they seemed anti-tourist. It's a long story, but in short I was hurt and needed first aid. Overall, this is not a bad hotel. But it's located in an area that many people might consider unpleasing. It was fine for us. About a 15 minutes subway ride to the center of Paris. Opposite the hotel their is a bar which is very loud on Friday and Saturday but from my room you could not hear a thing. The room was fantastic.
