This hotel is right across from Mammoth Village so you can walk to lots of great shops and restaurants. The hotel itself is very quaint, though one warning is that thee is no AC so it gets kinda hot in your room by the end of the night. That was my only complaint. The staff is great, breakfast was good, great location. I would stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
A great spot for a stay in the Mammoth Lakes area. The staff was a stand out and I only wish my stay was longer. Would definitely come there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Overall, this was a great stay! One plus is that it's right in the middle of things, across from Mammoth Village. One drawback is that this location made it pretty loud on a Saturday night. We could hear drunk revelers until 2 am.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Just what we were looking for!"
The hotel and room were very clean and had everything we needed. The hotel theme and the fact that we were the few English speakers added to the charm and reminded me fondly of stays in European hotels. The included breakfast was convenient and an appreciated bonus!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I was very disappointed with this hotel. They put us in a cottage which was very old. The carpet was stained. Even though it looked clean it felt dirty. The shower was so small that I couldn't wash my feet. My shoulders touched both the sides of the shower just standing in it. The bed was very hard. Even though there were two bedrooms there was only […] one clock. We will not stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Alpenhof lodge was a great find in Mammoth Lakes! The service was excellent and room was clean. Breakfast was also better than expected. Would definitely come back again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"You knew it was a budget hotel when you booked it."
Some may question my high marks, but for a budget hotel I cannot complain. Twin Lakes is a 2.5 mile walk (jog if you have the lungs) and the restaurants and shops are less than a mile walk. Actually the new shops across the street are closer, obviously, but they are directed at the younger crowd. I prefer old Mammoth shops but to each their own. My […] only real complaint is cramming a king size bed into a small room and then putting the armoire in front of it. A queen would have been better for my particular room which was the cheapest. I am sure a larger room would be quite nice. The breakfast is pretting good too. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Very big nice rooms with fridge and nice bathroom. No a/c but there was a big fan. The hotel staff were very friendly. Lots of places to eat nearby but it could be noisy in the evening. Not sure if this was just because there was a big event on when we were there. Great hotel if you want to be in middle of town but not peaceful location. Swimming pool […] in car park. sauna closed in summer. Would stay again happily. good value for money. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fantastisk kort vistelse i Mammoth Lake!"
"Perfect for a quick stay, great location, cozy"

We stayed here for 2 separate nights, one before our backpacking trip and the other night afterwards two separate rooms and they were both pretty nice. There is no AC so try to get a room facing the parking lot so you can get a breeze. The staff was very friendly, the continental breakfast was great, beds were comfy, a little outdated, but still well kept and clean. The price was great and it had a nice European ambiance. Would definitely recommend. The location is only about 5-10 min drive to Mammoth Mountain where you catch the shuttle to go into the park. Hotel is right next to several restaurants within walking distance across the street. Would definitely stay here again.
"Clean & comfortable"

Stayed here while travelling & did not have a booking, but staff were helpful & found us a comfortable room. Access to a pool was appreciated after a long drive. Breakfast was included in the price and there was a good variety available. In all, very pleased we found this hotel!
"Great location, good price"

Right across from the village with many dining opportunities, you really don't need a car. The gondola head right up the mountain a few steps away. Our queen bedded room on the ground floor was very spacious. We particularly enjoyed the f?oor to ceiling windows and the trees nearby. The interior is very clean and looks like a throwback to the 70's. This was not a put off. It added to the charm and authenticity to the place. Nice confinental breakfast in the morning. If you get a. Han e, frat yourself to the restaurant in front. Petra's is one of our favorites.
"Great location, friendly staff, clean accomodations"

Just stayed one night at the Alpenhof Lodge, but it was a great find. Reasonably priced (for Mammoth), a great location close to the brewery and village. Staff was super friendly (let me check in early), the rooms were clean and comfortable. Complimentary bottled water was a nice touch. There was a nice European style breakfast with a lot of options. Outdoor seating areas nice for gathering with friends with a growler from next door. Pool and jacuzzi clean and functional. Friends ate in the cafe downstairs (restaurant is closed on Mondays) and enjoyed it very much. (They were especially impressed with the totchos)! All in all a very nice find in Mammoth. We will return. Only three minor issues. The wifi was spotty. It was easy to connect to, but it kept dropping the signal. This would have bothered me if I really needed to get some work done (which I often do while traveling) but for this trip I didn't want to work anyway! The shower head was low and and a weird angle (and was not adjustable) and lacked good pressure. For this trip, not a huge issue, but if you've been out skiing all day, you REALLY want a nice, hot shower. You might consider looking into low flow shower heads from High Sierra Showerheads (I don't work for them I swear! But I recently bought one for our house after using one in another hotel, and they are awesome! Good price, environmentally friendly, great pressure and adjustable. Just a thought!) The other thing was that our room (105) was missing a screen for the window. I wanted to let in the fresh mountain air, but wasn't too keen about sharing the room with mosquitoes and such. But as I said, those were minor issues, and overall we were VERY happy with the accommodations.
"Fun, Friendly and Laid Back"

We stayed at the Alpenhof for two nights in order to spend an entire day at Yosemite. There is no elevator (which we knew) and the young man you checked us in offered to help carry our luggage- always a plus even though we always decline. The room was comfortable and clean, with a window that opens to the cool mountain air- our main problem during our stay was elevation sickness- be aware that Mammoth Lakes itself is over 8,000 ft above sea level, so 'coming down off the heights' will do nothing. Everything about the Alpenhof is unique but not 'touristy hokey' and if we ever venture that high up again, we'll definitely be back!

We stayed at the Alpenhof for 3 nights in late June. We stayed in Cabin 419, a one-bedroom efficiency--- very clean, comfortable, and spacious. No AC, but we didn't need it, as the weather in the mountains is usually cool. There was loud music across the street from the lodge well into the evening, but because our cabin was at the rear of the property, it was quiet. We were pleasantly surprised by the continental breakfast, which included some food choices not usually found at hotel complimentary breakfasts- hot cereal (homemade, not instant), croissants, artisan bread, and cold meats and cheeses, etc. Coffee was remarkable!
"Great property in an awesome location"

We stayed at the Alpenhof for 3 nights in early April and were not disappointed. We were a party of 3 adults and 2 children and we stayed in the 3 x Queen room which was at the front of the property. The room was quite large and easily fit us all and our luggage. Our room was super clean and had a balcony which faced the Village. We also had free Wi-Fi which worked a treat! Breakfast was included each morning. This consisted of a few different cereals and some porridge (oatmeal). Toasts/bagels, fresh fruit, cold meat and cheese, yoghurt, tea and coffee. Just enough to start the day and very tasty. This was self serve in the restaurant. The hotel is directly across the road from the Village Gondola and the restaurants & shops in the Village. It is also only minutes away from Mammoth Lakes town which would be convenient if you wanted to go to the outlet shops there. My only negative was that our room was directly over the Whiskey Bar, so the patrons having a smoke at 11.00pm outside our window were a little noisy. If you can get a room at the rear of the property this would be better for light sleepers. Overall, we would definitely stay at the Alpenhof again. The staff here were very friendly and we really enjoyed our stay.
"Beautiful, comfortable, delicious and affordable"

We stayed in a king bed firplace room 406 on the ground floor back lodge. It was super quiet and kept clean and comfortable for a 3 night extended to a 4 night stay with no room changes. The included continental breakfasts are now served in their resteraunt room with plenty of space, tables and relaxation area by another fireplace Their fine dining is just as delicious. The spa is clean and indoors and a nice pool in season accross the parking area. Being located centrally across from the new village and ski lifts it was easy to find shops and other dining within walking distance. Whether you are a skier or summer visitor this is THE place to stay year round. We will be back soon!
"Great option for Mammoth ski trip!"
05/29/14 skierrob Long Beach, CA
Stayed here over Memorial Day weekend to get some last-minute skiing in before the end of the season. Great location -- the property is located directly across the street from a gondola that goes to Canyon Lodge, and is also located on the road to the main lodge for the ski area. Clean rooms, good breakfast, friendly staff. Only issue I had was noise from a nearby bar at 2 am when everyone left for about 15 minutes. Would recommend -- seems to be one of the more reasonably priced options in town.
"Only reasonable choice for accommodation in downtown"
04/20/14 RAKlein St. John's, Newfoundland
We stayed in Mammoth Lakes for an overnight while traveling down US 395. We had taken a loop that brought us through town from the ski slopes and saw the hotel before turning onto Main Street (a nondescript area of hotels, gas stations and strip malls). Had we taken the turnoff into town from 395 we would have ended up at one of those hotels, but instead we found Alpenhof which is in the middle of town and across the street from a free funicular to ski slopes. There is also an area of shops and restaurants -- in the middle of activity. The hotel itself is older, but perfectly fine. It was clean and had what one expects in a motor hotel; the bathroom was small. Staff was particularly accommodating and the room cost quite reasonable. The only other choice "in town" is the Westin, which I am sure charges 2 or 3 times as much. I'd recommend the hotel if for no other reason than its prime location.
