Windsor Martinique Hotel - Rio de Janeiro

Windsor Martinique is 50 m walk from Copacabana & 15 minute walk from Ipanema. Beach at the end of the street is nice and clean. 1 block opposite way you have small supermarket, bank, restaurant,etc. Location is excellent & safe. Police have a small station at the corner. Taxis always outside. Night souvenir market on some nights two blocks east. Many […] cafes to grab a snack while at the beach. Hotel staff Philipe, Claudio and the lady (forgot name) speak perfect English and are super friendly. Took tour recommended by hotel (Rio Express). Saw Corovado, SugarLoaf and many city sights in one day without being rushed. Room and bathroom were not huge, but clean. Bed is firm by American standards. Pillows not great-flat and synthetic. If you are pillow snob,bring your own. Room AC was cold & you could optionally open window. My room faced the rear so no view except of the back of other buildings. Hotel gym has 2 treadmills/2 bikes in a cramped space. Pool on roof is tiny,but did not care since came for beach. Small bar near the pool, but not open in the evening. You can bring your own drinks up there and enjoy the evening breeze in private. Internet included, but need a wire in the room. Wi-Fi in lobby & roof. Nomangue restaurant across the street was good and not expensive. 2 outdoor restaurants past the Golden Tulip were good price and food. It was a very good hotel. I have been working in the outer Sao Paolo region for 2 weeks and staying in an awful hotel with poor services and subpar rooms. Windsor Martinique is absolutely a 180 degree reversal. Rooms are great for the value. Perhaps more is expected by some for the price paid, but with the right expectations (in a foreign country, very […] touristy area, and only half block from the beach), you quickly realize how much of a value you get. Hotel Guest Services all speak good english and attempt to help you as much as possible. My only complaint is that the services that they provide are somewhat lacking for the image they try to bring. I wanted to rent a bike but they did not have an agreement in place with a local shop so they could only give me directions to the nearest bike shops for me to rent myself. I wasn't mad, but I did lose a few hours from my early morning plans because all the shops were closed until 10 AM. They did their best with what they had. Again, you understand you are getting a good value for most aspects of the hotel but perhaps you do not get the complete services as you would with a Marriott or Sofitel. But you pay half the price too. So your choice. Read more

Well located, simple and clean hotel. Rooms not very comfortable though, for example: hard low budget bed. I would recommend it as a business like hotel, definitely not a romantic or very cozy spot. Definitely overpriced as are all hotels in Rio.

At first I thought upon entering this is a second rate hotel- on a side street- small lobby - very small elevators-a dormatory style room. He sends me to a photo shop I follow his directions. no photo shop. I come back and confront him. He says it does not open until 9am. it's 830. Why didn't he tell me this at first. Another staff lady butts in and lectures me. They all talk portugese rudely knowing I don't understand. They have a certificate of excellence from trip advisor on the wall. What a farse. Don't stay here unless you speak Portugese. The hotel is deficient in many ways and that is why you pay a little less. Read more

The location of this hotel is incredibly convenient with only a block to the beach. Breakfast is very popular with the guests and had a good selection. Its good but the lobby is small. The Wi-Fi don't work in the room. You have to go down to the lobby to connect to internet. It's a good hotel a few walks to Copacabana and tons of shops & restaurants around the corner. The breakfast was very good and plenty of selection.

The room and the rest of the hotel were clean. Staff was very nice and helpful. The pool is very small almost like a box. However who needs a pool when a beach is a minute away. Their restaurant was pretty good. Lots of good places to eat around as well. I would stay there again.

Stayed for 6 nights. Despite the reputation of Copacabana, the area near this place is actually quite nice. Copacabana beach is right down the block and Ipanema beach is only about a 10 minute walk. Enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. The only setback is the hotel parling that charges 25 Brazilian real per day or about 13 dollars to park your car overnight. You can park on the street if you can find space for around 1 dollar! Still its a nice place with a great breakfast buffet!

The hotel is next to copacabana beach. The hotel isn't as nice as some of the others that may be in the area but for the price it is hard to beat it. The staff was friendly and helpful with keeping luggage when I arrived early and left late.

I stayed here in July, 2012. The hotel was centrally located, very clean, staff spoke English, and the free breakfast buffet was very good. I read earlier reviews say it was basic, but I found meats, cheeses, fruits, scrambled eggs, bacon, yogurt, cereal, 4 juices, bagels, etc. my room was clean, the bathrooms was great, solid water pressure, elevators […] were fast. My only complaint is the WIFI was only available in the lobby. Many people congregated in the lobby to access the internet. The room had wired internet, but I was using a smartphone, so needed wifi. Rooms are small but serviceable. Good breakfast and convenient location. We paid extra for a room with a partial ocean view.... but the window glass was so fogged that we could barely see out of it... and the fogging couldn't be wiped off because it was between the glass panes. The water pressure in the showers is god-like! Minor issues: While the hotel staff is very helpful, the busboys don't know any English, and some of your requests get jumbled up in the staff/busboy/taxi driver chain.
