Compass Point Dive Resort - East End

If you want to get well away from the corporate hotels on 7 mile beach, this is a great choice, but you do need to be self sufficient!

I got upgraded to a beachfront 2 bedroom 2 bathroom condo unit as an Expedia VIP. The hotel was immaculate, tastefully decorated in cheerful colors, and opened directly on to a private beach! I loved having breakfast with the sunrise over the ocean, The staff were so helpful with any questions I had and with helping me book on-island excursions.The […] fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer and mini cooler made my stay that much easier and more delightful. I really should have packed lighter because everything was provided for an ideal beach vacation! The snorkel boat tour that was an Expedia VIP bonus was a highlight of my trip. The East End location was so relaxing, away from the congestion of GeorgeTown and the cruise ships. You do need a rental car to get around the island from here but I found the driving scenic and easy, even though I'm not used to driving on the left! Read more

If you're looking for the hustle and bustle of Seven Mile beach... this is not the location for you. The condominium accommodations were great: full kitchen set-up, sleeping, pay cell phone and entertianment (satellite TV, stereo, DVD)! Except for a trip to the Foster's grocery store (not far from the resort and a bit pricey), little was needed to make […] our stay excellent. The staff was welcoming and very helpful. The beach was nice enough... although a rocky shoreline. Diving instruction and diving & snorkeling sites were excellent! Sea kayaking was fun. Very friendly staff. Best dive personnel on the island. Location is away from town so it's good for quiet and relaxing vacation. Beautiful views, but beach is not very good for swimming. Go to The Reef area a few miles away for good beach and snorkeling.

Compass Point caters to those who want to learn to scuba dive, those who want to advance their scuba education. They are consumate professionals at what they do and we were extremely happy with everything at compass point. The staff here make you feel like family, and like you belong here. There is not much at all around compass point. Buy your groceries near the airport when you fly in and before you go to compass point. Prepare to have some of the best diving in the world. Awe insiring sights, beautiful coral heads, tropical fish, sea turtles, barracudas, sharks. We stayed in the single bed building which is 45 ft. from the water. All rooms have a balcony overlooking the water. Like some, our room was managed for a non-resident owner. It had a complete kitchen with adequate cookware, china, etc. and a dishwasher. Daily trash collection included but housekeeping was additional. I can't say enough good things […] about the staff. Mark was incredibly helpful when we needed local guidance and state-side phone assistance. They are a dive resort and have four dive boats, but my wife and I are not divers which was OK with them. We just made use of the two pools and spa pool. Free kayaking and bicycles are available. Location, location, location...the East End is soooo quiet but many natural sites and great restaurants are nearby. The busy West side and 7 mile beach (over rated) is only 30 minutes away. Great place to stay if you want to relax and enjoy the island. We are not divers but they obviously have a great program. The boats were leaving all day taking divers out to the reef. I would recommend renting car so you can get around the rest of the island.

Excellent staff, service, and diving. Room are excellent and spacious. Be sure to buy food to stco your kitchen for whateve meals or snacks you might wish to eat in as it is a fair drive to the nearest grocery store.

Nice clean and comfortable, detailed condo, well stocked kitchen, small but efficienti one bedroom, all space was really maximized to the guests benefit, large lanai though . Generally, nice staff, however, we did seem to annoy one person with our early check in ( though we got permission ahead of time from a different person) and again with our snorkeling […] questions. It was subtle but we got the "hint" to stop asking questions, she was knowlegable, but I got the feeling she was overwhelmed. Understandably I guess since they are primarily a dive resort. I would definately stay here again if we were diving, however if I were going again to snorkel or skin dive I would stay on seven mile beach. Again, the irritation we caused got a subtle negative response and the place was really nice and immaculate, that is the difference between four and five star rating. Just a little less than perfect. Compass Point & Ocean Frontiers is very well run. Definitely a hotel for divers by divers. Once we arrived on site we never had to touch our dive gear. It was ported to & from the boats, rinsed & hung every day. Being on the east end of the island gave us the chance to dive locations we wouldn't have had we stayed in the more frequented west end.
