"Good big rooms"
09/20/14 PW03 Canberra, Australia
The rooms at this hotel are quite large but for some reason they seemed airless and stuffy. The number of staff seemed to be a bit under strength and busy. The food was very good in the lounge and the breakfast was good.

We stayed here for a two night b&b midweek deal with two toddlers. We were given a large corner family room which was perfect very spacious with a fine sized bathroom and very clean with a good choice of TV channels. We had lunch in Johnny burkes the first afternoon and in the restaurant the second day and the seafood chowder I had on both days is probably the best I've ever had! We ate in the pearl restaurant on both evenings and had two fantastic meals, food, wine and service were top class. Both meals were washed down with some drinks in Johnny burkes which is a delightful bar not at all like your average hotel bar, one of the nicest I've been in with again very helpful staff. All in all a lovely few days and we were blessed with the weather with the beach at the doorstep. If I had to be constructively critical the hotel could do with a little kids play area for those rainy days but as I said we had the weather so didn't bother us.
"2 night deal"

Booked a 2 night deal which included 1 evening meal after viewing the Armada website. Thought the sample menu looked excellent on the web and really disappointed to find when we turned up for dinner that people on 'the deal' were on a cheap menu... Risotto/how expensive is that!!! or chicken breast were two of the super cheap options...Not able to choose the mussels or chowder which had been on the sample menu even by paying a bit more. I was so looking forward to seafood while on the coast. Portions were so small that we were hungry leaving the restaurant. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice and good service.Overall experience was just ok... management more keen about keeping the rooms full than in giving a good customer experience. No wow factor in any aspect of the stay which I expect as I only treat myself to a break once or twice a year. Great location and bedroom and bathroom were kept clean throughout our stay. Not 4 star quality

Myself and my partner stayed in this hotel recently on the 15/09/14. This was part of a deal through escapes.ie for a great price. After getting recommendations from family and friends and a couple that got married here we were really looking forward to it. I would like to say that everything about our stay was perfect!! To start, the welcome we got at the reception desk was so nice. The lady who checked us in (I forgot to get her name!) was beyond helpful. She was so pleasant and I really felt welcomed into the hotel. Our room was great. The facilities in the room were excellent. The view of the sea just made it better! It was so peaceful looking at the view especially after getting away from the hustle and bustle in Dublin to this amazing place. The food was second to none. We ate at Jonny Burkes on the night and the staff were so pleasant and I felt like they really took pride in their job. I highly recommend the 8oz Burger it was amazing! You could tell that the local produce that they used was of a high standard. We enjoyed the craft beer tasting also and they were delicious. I found the cider was the best of the 3 and it was so reasonably price for drink in this bar also. With the relaxed atmosphere that was in this pub it made us feel so at ease and we really enjoyed it. Breakfast in bed was included in our deal and it was amazing. Everything was so freshly prepared and there was a great variety you could chose from. I would like to finish of by saying I will definitely be returning to this hotel. We were only raging we did not stay for 2 nights but the next time we will!

We attended the Kilmurry Ibrikane U16 Football tournament Sat 13th Sept and stayed over at the Armada on Friday 12th. Hospitality was excellent. Rooms very good. Food was very good. Will be back. Beech right beside hotel - surfing school was great.
"Lovely Hotel but in Quiet Location"

Myself and my husband stayed for 3 nights at the Armada Hotel last week. The hotel is a very nice hotel with beautiful views overlooking the sea. Everything about the hotel was great, staff very friendly, bar food very nice, main restaurant bit on formal side....The only downside as a young couple in our 30's was there is nothing around the hotel, as in no village to come out of the hotel and walk to, for a shop, pub, other choice of restaurant, you are mainly stuck at the hotel. This may suit some people but its just a personal thing for us that we would have liked more options in the evening. I would definitely recommend the hotel itself as we could not fault it - definitely request a sea view room they are beautiful...
"A great place to take a trip to the Arran Islands from"
09/15/14 Happypaddy_10 Dublin, Ireland
Hi all my wife and I stayed in the Armada hotel and used it as a starting point to go to the Arran Islands and also the cliffs of Moher. The cliffs are truly awsome and not to be missed if in the area. We took the ferry boat to Innishman and on to Innishmore where we spent the day. To hear the locals speaking in Gaelic was great and I regret that I could not understand it all as my Gaelic whilst OK for a Dubliner is good down here it does not pass. People are very nice and appreciate a person making an effort to talk in Gaelic. The scenery and the food were out of this world and the wild atlantic air would do you good. Plus the brown bread and smoked and wild atlantic smoked salmon went down a treat. Our only problem was with my wife who does not travel well on boats and died a death on the way back to Doolin from where we got the ferry to the Islands. To come back to the Armada hotel review........... We had a great room with lovely views out over the Atlantic ocean .The hotel staff were kind and friendly and the food was very good. The dinner menu in the hotel was very varied and they catered fot my dairy allergy by having a supply of Soya milk and other non dairy products It was extremly good value for money and I would not hesitate to return

The food was only brilliant, room is bright, ideal orientation and well suited, staff were very efficient and the overall coastal setting was ideal. First impressions were set when offered a variety of unusual drinks on arrival by a staff member who advised on each choice in a friendly enthusiastic way. Hard to beat.
