I have had to stay frequently at Le Meridien at Dubai airport. It is a wonderful looking hotel with excellent service. This hotel's staff are simply peerless in their helpfulness and quality. Sadly, the structural amenities of the hotel are starting to feel antiquated or run down. The air-conditioning in the rooms does not work well. Given the 45 degree […] heat (120 degrees Fahrenheit) in May 2012, this was problematic as the room temperature could hardly dip below 25 (80 degrees Fahrenheit). The hotel is undergoing some renovation of the rooms. The public areas need renovation as well. I found the workmanship of the renovated room to be shoddy. The staff was cold, maybe overworked and under-appreciated. I did not feel welcomed or valued as a guest, which is something I have come to expect in a hotel of this caliber.

The hotel grounds were not nearly so extensive as it sounds in writing. There is certainly limited space in which to walk. Also, the restaurants, while lovely, also occupied a much smaller space than described. Picked this hotel for its proximity to the airport due to an 14 hour layover. The "18" restaurants it claims are a little walk away and not clearly marked. Stayed at this hotel in January 2011 and unlike my previous stay (6 years ago), this stay was a total disappointment. I paid a serious rate (in off-peak season) to find myself in a dated 'classic' room with old furniture, chairs so worn out that they put covers on them, and a very small bathroom with mold. There was an iron and ironing board pinned […] to the wall right in the middle of the room which is almost unheard of in Dubai, at least for a hotel that claims such high star rating. As a previous reviewer mentioned, the room definitely had a motel feel to it which doesn't go with the rate. So, unless you're willing to pay for a premium room, don't even bother staying here. I know I'll go back to Bustan Rotana, right next door, where there's enough comfort and luxury regardless of which room category you book. Le Meridien, never again. Read more
