A short guide to Downtown Toronto

Toronto’s culturally diverse downtown includes the CN Tower, the Royal Ontario Museum, and the Art Gallery of Ontario. Air Canada Centre is home to the Toronto Maple Leafs, and Rogers Centre features the Blue Jays. Toronto’s underground city is a great way to get around the downtown core when the temperature drops. Known as the PATH, it is also the world’s largest subterranean shopping center.

Relaxing, charming place in the business district. We loved the setting, the amenities and the staff. Exceeded our expectations. Construction in the area made a little noise, but this was a minor annoyance that did not detract from the wonderful experience. We felt very fortunate and lucky to have found this hotel on hotels.com

We stayed at the Cosmopolitan in September and were very impressed. The hotel itself and our room were clean and comfortable. Within walking distance to major attractions, public transit and grocery stores. The staff was very helpful, able to answer all our questions. We felt they went above and beyond to make our stay less stressful. We used the underground parking to save some money instead of their valet service as we relyed on public transit to get around. The car was within walking distance so we could get to it if we needed.

This hotel is conveniently located to restaurants, public transportation and other major hotels. The staff was very helpful. Instead of rooms, the hotel has well-designed suites and provide everything you would need including dishes in the kitchen, a washer/dryer and comfy robes to wear. The place was spotless. Because there are only a few suites on each floor, there is little noise or waiting for elevators. I enjoyed the new age touches like a small fountain gurgling in the room, a cd playing meditative music as we walked in and the turn down service with the incense of your choice. The wine bar downstairs seemed popular although we didn't take advantage of that. It seemed like a perfect hotel for a romantic get-away and I would strongly recommend it to my friends going to Toronto.

We especially liked the decor of the room with the hardwood floors and clean, contemporary furnishings. It was a beautiful and convenient kitchen. The incense and gems for the turn down service were wonderful. We really considered it a great find. We could walk easily to CN tower, entertainment or the Eaton Center. Valet service for the car was a drawback, since we had to make sure we had everything out of the car that we might need because we had no access to it and we did not really know where it was parked. We ended up needing the car more than we thought in our three day stay. The staff was very helpful. I made the mistake of reading somewhere that the continental breakfast buffet was included with the room and we got charged for it because they said it was not included for our reservation. We would not have used it, had we known, because the only thing we couls eat from it was the fruit and a cup of tea. We would absolutely stay there again!

I enjoyed the unique and modern feel of the hotel. I appreciated that the front desk told me about the nearby public parking lot which was much cheaper than valet parking. I appreciated that the front desk suggested to buy an all day public transportation pass. I would have liked to know up front that parking costs were not included in my hotel price that I prepaid for. I was disappointed that they did not give me the wake up call that I requested. I was also disappointed to discover that the deposit for incidentals would stay on my credit card for 10 business days after leaving the hotel. I would have liked to know that up front.

We loved this hotel from the moment we got there. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The only downside was all the city noise at night, but you would get that at any hotel that was situated in the city. The turndown service was nice, especially since they left a surprise on our pillows and some lovely incense for us to burn. We lit the incense and played the complimentary relaxation CD at bedtime. It was a wonderful hotel. Highly recommend you stay at if you go to Toronto.

The service at this hotel was superb! Hotel staff were courteous, helpful, and very fun to talk to. I loved that the hotel was in the middle of downtown Toronto, but yet was not noisy or bustling with outside street noise. I would recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of visiting Toronto. I loved it there, and did not want to leave! The suites with the washer/dryer set and the kitchenette were very nice, especially since my stay in Toronto was long. The spa was very nice and tidy, and was very clean. The hotel has a very comfortable feel, and is by far the best hotel that I have ever stayed in. The next time I am in Toronto the Cosmopolitan is guaranteed my business!

The hotel is located just off Yonge Street between Front and King within walking distance of restaurants, shopping, Union Station, the convention centre, Rogers Centre, CN Tower, St. Lawrence Market, etc. The subway is around the corner. Rooms are small suites with kitchenettes, mini laundries, irons, hair dryers, safes and most everything else one needs for an extended stay. Staff was friendly and helpful. Bar and restaurant on premises is expensive but good. Free breakfast and high speed Internet service are included in some packages, but you need to inquire to be sure. Beware the mini-bar (inside the refrigerator). In my room it was broken and empty. I informed the front desk and there was no problem. Parking is expensive (as it is everywhere in Toronto). But Toronto has excellent public transportation and a car is actually a hindrance.

What a gem! I had such a nice stay in Toronto this weekend. The hotel staff was superb - extremely friendly and very helpful in directing us to fun things to do in the city. (And the guys were very handsome!). The wine bar had live music one night which was awesome. My only complaint was that the room was on the smaller side, but for the location and price, it really wasn't a big deal. I would definitely stay there again!

We stayed in the deluxe 1 bdrm and the decor and zen feel was quite cool. We really got the "living in the city" feel from the condo-like room. The only real negative I can report on is the amount of light coming in to the bedroom... far too much for my taste. They need to invest in some true black-out shades in the bedroom.

The Cosmopolitan is a very conveniently located hotel, just half a block from the King Street subway station, and walking distance to the Harbourfront, Dundas-Yonge Square, and the St. Lawrence Market. It's also very useful to have a kitchenette and washer and dryer in the room. The first room we were given did not have a washer and dryer so we had to wait a few minutes, and then we were moved to another room with all the amenities. The condition of the room was fine--didn't really feel like a four-star hotel to us, but considering what we paid for the room, it was a good value. However the sink plug in the bathroom didn't work, and never did get fixed even after I asked someone to take a look. Front desk staff is friendly and helpful, cleaning staff was mostly fine except for one day. We'd stay here again for the location, price, and amenities, but not for a "luxury" hotel experience.

First off, fantastic room for the rate. A lot of space in my deluxe suite (I could have comfortably lived there and admit that I want to) and looking back, I probably would have been satisfied with a room a size smaller. The location cannot be beat. Ten minute walk to harbour, five minutes to airport shuttle, around the block from subway stop, and a 24-hour grocery store is minutes away at Church and Front streets. Great restaurants in the St. Lawrence Market area, but you can even buy groceries and take meals in your room if you're looking to save money. Five minutes to Hockey Hall of fame and a comfortable walk to the CN Tower. NEVER felt unsafe by myself/after/ever. Only complaint: my mattress was a bit firm, but that's not exactly a deal-breaker for me.

Location is very good, right in the middle of downtown. You can walk to almost anything in 20 minutes or take a subway across a street. Very cosy and "small" hotel. It has about 24 floors, but only 3-4 rooms on each floor. At first we got a room on 23 floor facing bay area. view was fantastic, we can see bay, city, airport... very, very nice... But then we moved to 18th floor facing city. This time all we could see was a building across a street. So, if you can afford to pay little extra for a higher floor (20-24) with Bay view-get one, you'll not be disappointed, otherwise get this hotel only if you found very nice, cheap deal. Rooms we stayed in was studios, so we were able to cook from time to time. Even thou it's in a downtown area, it's not noisy. Bottom line, if you found bargain-get it!!!

The overall experience was fantastic. We arrived at the hotel about 9:30am as we had an early flight. We thought we'd see if our room was ready and if not drop our bags and head out to get some breakfast etc until check-in time which was at 3pm. There was no room available for our booking but we were upgraded to a suite and got a complementary breakfast thrown in! More fantastic was, for the time of the morning and our tiredness, the attitude of the staff, they were very friendly and uplifting. The comment about the staff applies to not only the lovely lady who checked us in but also to others we asked for directions, places to eat, general information etc. The room was clean, the fixtures/furnishings were all in great condition, the AC worked great and the bed was comfortable. Our only (very) minor gripe was, in the morning when the sun came up, even with the blinds closed, the room was bright. Myself and girlfriend cannot really sleep without a dark room.

Nice, clean hotel, which has a spa like feeling. They have daily meditation classes every night and will ask you what type of incense you'd like in your room. They even put a rock on your pillow during turn down service (we had an onyx, which meant powerful and masculine, haha:) These were really great touches. Our room was on the 25th floor and we had a fabulous view of the CN Tower. The hotel was in the St. Lawrence District close to the St. Lawrence market, but unfortunately it was closed on both Sunday and Monday, the time we were there. Eaton Center, their big mall is not even 3 blocks away. For the price, the Cosmo is definitely recommended. The only draw back is the $35 a day valet.

Beware of a lot of little extra charges....ie: dish soap, parking, internet, etc. But for being a boutique hotel in a large city the quality of staff, cleanliness, and service was superb! The few things I listed were little inconveniences but didn't detract from our vacation at all.

The rooms were clean, hardwood floors so no disgusting carpets to walk on. We had a kitchenette and there was even a washer/dryer in the room for no charge. Also, no charge for internet service, or local calls. The breakfast was nothing special. They had a free mediation class every evening and gave us a crystal stone on our pillow instead of chocolate. This boutique hotel is cute and modern, and has really great service. That said, I was disappointed with the fact that the 'Jacuzzi' isn't actually part of the hotel, it's part of the spa, and can only be used by paying a spa fee, and only during spa hours (which is limited on weekends). That means if you're in town to explore the city or work, and are hoping to escape to the jacuzzi for an hour or so at night for a relaxing dip, it's NOT happening. They also offer very limited room service. It's nice that their suites offer a full kitchen, but as a couple visiting Toronto, we didn't make any use of that. The hotel also offers turn down service and meditation classes. It seems like it's aiming to be more of a fancy home away from home if you were planning on LIVING there, but not a whole lot of extra amenities for VISITING there. Also, parking and internet for 2 days added over $100 to my bill. So don't forget to account for those costs when choosing the hotel. I would recommend grabbing a hotel with more services available for your vacation.

If you have simple room below 18th floor you'll have a dark room facing a bulding just across a street without ANY view. So, if you can you better spend lil. more money and get yourself a room higher than 18th floor!

This modern, chic, hotel was truly unexpected in this busy part of downtown Toronto. It's ensconced on a little side street, which made me feel very cozy and insulated. Our room was impeccable; the service was the best I've had in a hotel in a long time. The staff seemed authentically happy to work there and extremely interested in making my stay excellent. The free meditation sessions, spa, 24 hour gym, and turndown service (with incense) was lovely. I never even SAW the cleaning staff, but everytime I entered my room, it was clean and attended to. Finally the wine bar, "Eight," had delicious food and wine. The continental breakfast was a pleasant surprise--it's pretty robust! And they offer freshly-made omelettes on the weekend. Depending on the room package, you may get the continental breakfast free OR you may get a $25 voucher from the staff to use toward ANY service the hotel offers. In all sincerity, staying at the Cosmopolitan was the BEST part of my 4 day stay in Toronto. I would recommend it in a heartbeat.

After about ten minutes of searching they found it. The room key did not work. We were on the 18th floor and had to go up and down three times before they moved us to another room, that did not accomodate. We ordered a cot. They took the cot out of the room after we left on Saturday night, when we got back to the hotel on Saturday night the cot was gone. Had to wait another 15 minutes for the cot, we were paying 25 dollars a night for.
