"Such a lowly stay!"
My husband and I stayed on June 6, 2013 for one night. Easy check in. Room is adorable, not to old looking, of you know what I mean. Small happy hour at 530, enjoyable. The inn itself is very nice. Great service at breKfast and an easier check out. Oh and the bed is super comfy, we stayed in room 2

"Excellent service"
We stayed one night to attend a wedding Memorial Day weekend. Although we weren't able to book a one-night stay directly through the inn, we were able to do so on Hotels.com. When we checked in, we asked the innkeepers to book us a cab to the wedding, which was at the other end of Cape May. The taxi was running late, so our kind host offered to drive us there, which was a lifesaver! We were able to make the wedding just in time! This was beyond excellent service. Our room was clean and cozy. The hospitality suite on the third floor with cold drinks and coffee available 24/7 was an appreciated bonus, as we are very early risers. Aside from having a little trouble finding two outlets to charge our phones, we have no complaints. We definitely would stay again.

"The Early Mother's Day Cape May Retreat"
My daughter and I spent two nights at The Peter Shields Inn as an early Mother's Day retreat. The inn was extremely welcoming, clean and peaceful. The ocean views were beautiful and the breakfast was delicious! Wine and cheese every afternoon was an added treat! The room was exactly as I would picture a bed and breakfast, clean, crisp and decorated with hardwood floors, antiques and fireplace in the room! It also had the modern amenity of a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom! The only negative was that the inn needed some work, some from Hurricane Sandy, and some general maintenance. It was a little pricy, but I guess you get what you pay for!

"Great place to stay"
My husband and I took a little R & R at Peter Sheild's. We are returning guests and love the Bed and Breakfast. The rooms are immaculately clean and tidy. All employees are extremely cordial and can't do enough for you. Bridget is the best! If you need anything all you have to do is ask. The breakfast is great, cooked to order from a small menu and we have used the resturant as well. They have a fixed menu, which is excellent. Try the hanger steak... it's to die for. The facility is across the beach in a more quiet area, which is also very nice. My husband and I just love the place.

"Wonderful getaway"
We stayed here the weekend of April 13 and had a wonderful visit. Room #1 was so comfortable - fireplace, ocean front, comfy bed and huge bath. We ate at the restaurant that night and the food was fantastic. The service both at the B&B and at the restaurant was wonderful - everyone was super friendly and accomodating. Our only suggestion would be to restrict access to the communal area outside of rooms 1 and 2 later in the evening. I am 7 months pregnant and was ready to go to bed by 11pm and there was still somewhat of a party going on outside of our room door. A bit frustrating, but could easily be addressed. We did not say anything as we did not want to create an issue, but something for the inn owners to consider moving forward. All in all, a great visit and we highly recommend.

"March weekend at Peter Shields, Cape May, NJ"
Very nice bed and breakfast, however our room was very small. The bathtub was inconvenient for us, since we are retired and had trouble getting in and out of the old fashioned bathtub. Also, there was not enough space to put our toiletries and there was only one outlet in the bathroom to plug in hairdryers, etc., and none in our room itself. No place to put a drink or a book on one side of the bed. The brunch was wonderful, but much too much food for us, and even though it was free, because it was so expensive to the public, our gratuity ended up being more than we would have spent on a regular breakfast and tip elsewhere.

"Great Bed and Breakfast"
It was an impressive stay, start to finish. A beautiful place in a beautiful location. Courteous staff. Beautiful architecture and well maintained (and clean). The Inn has a restaurant on the main floor where we had breakfast (very nice) with an expansive view of the ocean. 4 PM serving of wine (red or white) and cheeses and veggies on the second floor parlor with a view of the ocean. Lovely vintage fixtures and the addition of a small flat screen TV and affective electric heater above the bed. A hospitality room right down the hall (on the third floor, same as our room) with free goodies: homemade cookies, choices of hot tea, a variety of potato chips, an ice maker and a fridge with a variety of sodas and water. And the price was very affordable.

"Loved the Inn, but disappointed in dinner"
The Inn is beautiful and we loved the room - the one disappointment was in dinner -- I ordered the hanger stake, and if I had not been enjoying the ambiance, and the beautiful surrondings; I would have returned the meal because it was way below par considering the Zagat rating.

LOVED our one night stay. Staff is great, breakfast was delicious. We loved our room, and enjoyed the 4:00 wine and cheese in the sitting area. Can't wait to go back. There is even a hospitality room where you can get snacks and beverages anytime you want. This was a big plus, as I had my coffee immediately after I woke. Just the way I like it!

"Fabulous Stay in Cape May"
My husband and I just returned from Cape May where we stayed at Peter Shield's Inn. The inn is in a quieter section on Beach Ave. and was right across from the beach. There is also a comfort station right there as well, which was wonderful. One didn't have far to go to use a restroom while on the beach. The inn it self was beautiful and well maintained as well as the rooms, which were lovely. The only concern we encountered are the matresses are very high off the ground, which could be an issue for someone with leg, knee or hip problems... my husband who is 6'4" could not rest his feet flush to the ground. This didn't deter me ... I loved the inn so much, I would bring a step stool, lol! We also ate at the resturant, which was wonderul the food was cooked perfectly and arranged professionally on the plate. We took advantage of the early seating fixed price menu, which cost $40.00. Bridget, Meg and all the staff were so kind and helpful in everyway. So don't be afraid to ask them any questions you might have. Two services the inn offers which my husband liked very much was the free 24-hour beverage and snack room and the daily free wine and cheese at 4:30 PM. The latter helped you meet other guests... it was a great ice breaker for conversation. We really loved our stay and would recommend it highly.

"Great Beach Location"
We really liked the location of the B&B. The breakfast in the morning was very good with a full menu. The beach was right across the street and the downtown shopping and resturant area was an easy mile walk ( we did it several times ). The Inn is older victorian and parking is provided off the street. Lots of extras provided including bikes and beach towels at no charge. Very warm when we were there, a/c was a necessary item all night.

Peter Shields Inn will spoil you! This is truly a beautiful inn just down the road from town center, located across the street from the beach. You could tell it's someplace special from the moment you walk in and are greeted like you just came home. Classic victorian mixed with modern glamour makes the atmosphere elegant, cozy and light. We stayed in Room 7 and just loved it! It was comfortably cool even in August on the 3rd floor. We arrived early and were invited to take advantage of the complimentary beach towels, beach chairs, bikes, and changing area until our room was ready (and it was ready early). Guests may also use these amenities throughout the day after check-out. The inn offers a lovely wine and cheese "hour" each afternoon on the second floor in the common area overlooking the beach. There is also a hospitality room on the third floor which is open 24 hours a day and fully stocked with complimentary coffee, tea, water, soda, ice, chips, and cookies! A full gourmet breakfast is also included in your stay, and extended to inn guests only. We also enjoyed dinner at the famous Peter Shields, as they offer a special dining experience for guests of the inn. Each staff member we talked with was very friendly and helpful. There seemed to be a sense of pride in representing Peter Shields, and with good reason. A beautiful, stately gem in beautiful Cape May!

"amazing anniversary getaway"

My husband and I stayed at PSI for one night in April 2015 and we had the most incredible and relaxing 2 days! The staff at PSI were extremely professional and friendly. Our room was beautiful - very modern, comfortable, and romantic. The wine and cheese was a really nice perk, as was the stash of snacks and homemade cookies in the pantry! Breakfast was fantastic. Mini muffins and yogurt-fruit-granola cups were available buffet-style and the main meal was ordered from the waitress (who was so sweet!) We had a gift certificate to the hotel, and since the gift certificate amount exceeded the cost of our stay, they kindly allowed us to apply it to our dinner at PSI. Dinner was out of this world. Not only was the food amazing (I had the duck!), but the waitress was super knowledgeable and so nice. They do not have a wine list, but it was BYOB and there is no corkage fee! We would love to come back here every year for our anniversary. PSI truly made our weekend incredible.

Visited Cape May and Peter Shields Inn in June and fell in love. The Inn is gorgeous and stately, yet comfortable. Just steps from the beach and providing all you need to be comfortable, we found a place to just be. No worries. While there is plenty to do nearby, we felt no pressure and kicked back big time. The only issue is one of the wifi- although it's "available" the signal is just too weak to use. There is a basement lounge where the wifi works great.

We spent 4 nights at this beautiful B & B. The room was comfortable, the bathroom was great and accessible and best of all the location....directly across the street from the beautiful Cape May beach. The staff was very friendly. While the room rate was quite high they did include a nice wine and cheese reception every afternoon and a full breakfast and free onsite parking. There is a lovely front porch with comfy wicker rockers and an gorgeous view of the atlantic.

I absolutely love this place. It's worth the price. The service was so professional and the place was very clean. It had all the comforts of a bed and breakfast without the creepy factor of staying In a strangers home. They also have "wine and cheese hour" every day and it's absolutely worth it. They are very generous with both the wine and cheese. Also… the restaurant next door is a must!!!

"Great location, excellent service and friendly staff"
07/09/15 RAS1968 Moorestown, New Jersey
Our room was on the 3rd Floor in front. Sufficiently large for us with decent bathroom and closet space for our 6 day visit. Great view of the ocean from our two windows! Fresh bottled water in the room each day and cold drinks, water and ice as well as coffee/tea and some small snacks available 24/7 in the convenience center down the hall. Full breakfast with yogurt, fresh fruit, muffins, juice and choice of 4 hot items daily. The Inn has an excellent restaurant as well (dinner only for outside guests-BYOB) which we enjoyed on one occasion. Location is the north end of Cape May - less congested than the center of town where we have stayed many times. A large motel two doors down was full during the holiday weekend so the beach was a bit more crowded on several days but very enjoyable - large and just across the street from our Inn. Housekeeping was excellent with fresh towels when needed and evening turn-down service as well. If you walk or jog in the am, the streets surrounding the Inn are less crowded and provide a nice variation from the busy town center area. The walk to the town center is about a mile, maybe a bit more. Parking is sometimes a challenge but you can get within 1/4 mile with not too much trouble - some public lots (fees apply) and many metered spaces ($1/hour) are available.

Another amazing Cape May vacation in Room 4 at PSI. The staff was friendly and efficient, as always. Room 4 sits on the back of the house with a private balcony, perfect. Beach chairs, umbrellas and towels are provided. There is also an outdoor shower, if needed. Breakfast served from 8-10 daily, very enjoyable. Wine, cheese, fruit and breads are served from 4:30-6:00. A short walk across the street to the beautiful Cape May beach. Off street, assigned parking spaces. You're always treated as family. Highly recommend that you try them out your next visit to Cape May. Jeff and staff, thank you again for all you do.

"One Night in Cape May"

This place makes quite an impression from the street and is elegantly decorated. The hostess was extremely friendly and showed us around. They room includes an all-day, help-yourself snack room with soft drinks, water, juice, coffee, tea and light snacks and a wine and cheese reception in the evening in addition to the breakfast each morning. It also supplies beach chairs, umbrellas and bikes which helps cut down on the items we needed to pack. The location can't be beat and there is a private parking lot. Overall this was an enjoyable stay but I have a few minor issues: our room was nice but so small we found it hard to find room to change our clothes. I could barely fit between the wall and queen sized bed but the bathroom was spacious. It was an extremely hot weekend and though our inn had individual air conditionings in each room we found it hard to get the room cool enough to our liking but the strong ceiling fan helped. And even though there are changing rooms and bathrooms for use after returning from the beach on the day you check out, there were no showers which I wished they had. Other than that it was a relaxing, romantic mini getaway!
