I was happy with the location and pricing of my overnight accommodation. The room was quite small for 3 people, but clean, and beds comfortable enough. The full breakfast available each morning was excellant as an inclusion in the price.

I was really surprised to find this hotel so well located. Near a very nice area Kiribilli, with a lot of history to learn and near many interesting famous places in Sydney. Walking diatance to take a ferry or the train or the bus! Many romantic restaurants. The only minus to this hotel is the shared bathroom that in my opinion they should be Men and […] Women separated. Paid for a deluxe room only to find that the 'shared' bathroom was down the end of a long corridor and shared with many rooms. Complained about how is was inappropriate for an elderly person and was given a room with bunk single beds. Friendly and helpful staff. Top quality complimentary breakfast buffet. The room I had was small, but that's all I needed. Shared toilet and shower.. Nice location on the north shore, just a quick ferry ride or 20 min walk over the bridge to all the action the CBD has to offer.

I stay at Gelnferrie almost every time I go to Sydney. Usually I have the same room, which is cosy. The breakfasts are very satisfactory. The bathrooms are clean. It is good value for money, a short walk to find dinner at Milson's Point, most convenient for going to theatre, etc.

Basic hotel - but generally good price for Sydney. The location is very good for going to central Sydney by ferry or you can walk over the harbour bridge. There is free WiFi and an exception breakfast is included.

There were a few minor problems with lights in our room. We have stayed here many times and always enjoy it. There were a few minor repairs that needed attention throughout the hotel but all in all it was a good stay. The location is quiet and the breakfast is good. .

The zone it islocated is nicebut I would have liked to have a view, ours was to the wall of next house, somehow i felt that beds were short. Consider that shared bathrooms are in a hall that has an outside door open all the timewewere there, not fun in winter. This hotel is excellent value for the price. The staff are friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean and the gardens pleasant. The hot breakfast is a very generous buffet and beautifully cooked.The location is superb - in a quiet leafy part of Sydney with just a couple of minutes walk to the wharf for the short ferry trip to the quay. […] The train to the city is also a short walk and there are good cafes in the village of Kirribilli. The only drawback is the need to share a bathroom with 3 other rooms, and is used by both sexes. This is well advertised on the website and the bathroom was always clean and available when I needed it. However it may not suit someone requiring their own private bathroom/ensuite. It was a reasonable location. The taxi from the airport is quite expensive though. I usually put up with a lot, but am writing this because the staff had such an attitude. On Thursday 19 April I awoke to find a couple hundred ants in the room, on the wall by the window, which was near the head of the bed. I asked them to kill the ants. When I returned at 11pm there were thousands of them. The reception closed at 10pm so I woke the […] guy up. He argued variously that it was near a tree so you should expect ants, it's not an emergency, he didn't get paid for after hours calls, and it wasn't his fault that the ants weren't killed during the day. This upset me so I told him my mind on the responsibility of running a hotel. Then he found another room and said I must request and not order him for the new room. All he had to do was switch the room but he wanted to argue and complain before even checking if a room was available. Even then he wanted a request from me rather than a demand. Any hotel customer has the right to demand to not have to spend the night with thousands of ants. Read more

there were spiders in my room in different daytime during my staying there, I can't sleep well at night because I have to watch four walls if there is any others. I took photos. While I asked the reception to get rid of it, their took slow action. There is no air-condition in room.

My daughter and I now love the North shore and wouldn't stay anywhere else. Aisher was there to greet us morning and night and we had some very late ones and some very early ones. He was brilliant and I wonder why you sometimes feel you don't get that well cared for even in five star accommodation. Thanks Aisher. The location of this Hostel is really great, and overall not too bad, breakfast spread is really great also, however there were cockroaches around, the mattress had bedwetting cover which made it sweaty, & the shared bathrooms - not good - out of 3 showers 1 kept overflowing, 1 light was broken so could only use during day, that left 1 good one - which […] obviously everyone used - Bathrooms could definitely use improvement. The location in quiet Kirribilli close to the ferry and not far from Mosman, North Sydney,Luna Park and Kirribilli shops and restaraunts saves Glenferrie from being 'dreadful.' Otherwise the hotel needs some maintenance if it is to retain its 3 star status. Very difficult to keep a poorly maintained building clean especially if bathroom facilities are […] shared.. The room doors shut with a bang that rattled the whole floor and the the floors creaked as though Zumba classes were in progress. Because the facilities were shared #2 bathrooms on our floor, only one of which was really useful, for 6 double rooms# the door banging and Zumba were constant. Last time we will stay in a shared bathroom facility hotel no matter the location. The breakfasts were good, plentiful and well cooked. The steep steps, no lifts or ramps meant it was lucky we were fit though difficult for families or older guests. Also steps from the wharf challenged luggage laden travellers. Read more

We arrived at the hotel and went to our room. We found a kettle in the room but there was nowhere to plug it in; the only socket I could find was behind the wardrobe. I managed to connect the kettle but found that it didn't work. I called the night manager and was told we would have to wait till morning. The following morning I spoke with reception […] and told them that the kettle didn't work and the only place to plug it in was behind the wardrobe. When we returned later in the day there was a replacement kettle in the room but still nowhere to plug it in. Whilst eating breakfast another guest asked what we thought of the hotel; she said it was average and we agreed. The breakfast selection was OK if not over-cooked. The hotel staff always appeared to be disengaged and were disinterested. This was not the level of service I would expect from a hotel. The shared bathrooms were very scruffy and the shower room had a light switch outside the room and the light got switched off whilst I was taking a shower at night. The price charged for wifi was absolutely ludicrous at $8 for an hour. I was told that only 1 in 5 guests purchase this service. If the price was reduced then more people would take it up. Read more

paid for 3 nights stayed 1. Stayed here around 7 years ago and was happy to return,however was very let down. Twin room was tiny...no were for suitcases and less than a foot space from bed to wall for walking around. The night way stayed around 1.30am there was a drunk banging and shouting rude lanuage trying to gey in to building(no staff after 10.30pm) […] he was banging for over an hour before it went quite. Then again at 5am the kitchen staff below our room were banging pots and pans as though they were in a brass band. As my room (30) was directly above. Not Just the kitchen but walking and singing in and outside the building (indian). We were so tired we missed out on the breakfast. At 12 the next day we checked out 2 days early depite paying upfront... we did not want to ruin our last few days of our hoilday and needed a good sleep for our 26 hour journey home. The only staff whom were genuine and spoke were the eastern european cleaners.... reception staff seemed to act as though guests were a burden... especially when interupted while in the internet at reception.... i watched the guy at pm shift while dealing with a lady checking in... she waited a good 20 seconds before he looked or acknlowlged her as he was intreged by youtube???? If all you need is a bed for the night, in a safe, quiet location this is perfect. The only drawback is its distance from the centre of Sydney (being that its on North Shore) but its only a 10 minute walk from Milsons Point train station through quiet surburban streets, or you have the ferry stop about 5 minutes away. if you arrive with a rental car it can be expensive because they hotel has no car park. You can park your car on the street in front of the hotel only for 2 hours on weekdays. So the only possibility is to park in the LUNA PARK car park for 32 Dollar per day which is very much if you plan a loingterm stay at Glenferie lodge.
