"Its a quaint place"
12/20/14 wwonson West Newfield, Maine
This is an older facility but kept up for what it is. The rooms are average, beds are comfortable. The rooms are clean. Its in a very quiet area but have access to nearby restaurants and bars. I would definitely stay here again. The prices are fair for what you get. We don't spend much time in our room, so it was perfect for us. Hot water, clean towels, and a comfy bed, what else is there? The front desk girls were very friendly.
"Awesome rooms and view!"

I had a great vacation this November there. The reception staff is just great - helpful and friendly at all times. The rooms are very very comfortable, and I would definitely go for the sea view rooms again. I loved that the personnel have helped me numerous times for renting a car, taxi transport and restaurant recommendations. I did noticed that the cleaning personnel was sloppy and not paying attention to my requests - towels not replaced in time or missing, etc.. But I would definitely recommend this hotel and plan to go there again.
"Friendly Staff, Recovering slowly from Hurricane Damage."
11/19/14 TailwindJoe Charlotte, NC
I planned a last minute getaway to St Maarten unaware that the Island had been hit by a significant hurricane the previous month. The normal array of great deals that are usually out there at this time of the year (Early Nov) were just not available. In fact several of the places I checked to stay at had no availability at all. I chalked that up to a recovering economy, and booked the most reasonable location I could find. That turned out to be Capt Olivers. I got a rate of 100 dollars US a night. When I got to the island, the damage from the hurricane was obvious in a lot of places, and the island had just gotten 48 straight hours of rain from a storm system that caused a good bit of flooding. (The main road through the Lowlands was pretty much impassible in the Mullet Bay area in the tiny little rental car I had.) My quick trip was turning into something of an adventure! I had never stayed on the french side of the island before and was looking forward to the experiance. (Although Capt Olivers Resort is just over the border on the french side.) The hotel appeared to have suffered a good bit of damage from the storm as several of the villa buildings had their roofs covered with tarps. The 3 villa building that was next to mine was completely closed off and looked like the rooms were staged to have their dammaged contents removed. Now the good - the folks at the desk upgraded me to a marina view room for free and I was first row from the water and had a spectacular view of the marina & ocean. The room was not the cleanest that I have ever stayed in, but it was fairly large with a very nice patio. (And what the heck, they were cleaning up after a hurricane!) Everything seemed to function well even though the furnishings were quite old. Like others have said, this is not a resort to make a vacation trip to just to stay in the resort. It is however a perfectly good place to be based out of for your exploration of the Island. The marina was very impressive with quite an assortment of yatchs available to rent, and there was a daily ferry to St Barths. The pool was ok, but one area was still taped off with caution tape and one of the wind screen panels appeared to have been damaged by the storm. The pool doubles as entertainment for folks in the bar / restaurant as it has one wall that is glass and the patrons can watch the swimmers in sort of a human fish bowl. Would I stay there again? Yes, I think I would for short visits in a pinch.
"Great service, aging property"
11/11/14 Flyboy22 Tahoe, California
The front desk staff is really helpful and accomodating. The rooms are comfortable but showing age. Toilets gurgle at night and the tile work is not fresh. The rooms are generally clean and comfortable and the one I had on the bay view was large and nice with a deck looking over the bay. You can walk to a few bars, stores and restaurants close by on Oyster Bay. The pools is nice but lacks shade in the mid day. This is a older budget place in a nice location to Oyster Bay but I would not see it as a place to come and enjoy as a resort as there is really no beach, just a sandy lot with a wall and a dock to dive from. I didn't see a gym. Not bad but I wouldn't go to this island to stay here. Nice place to stay for a night or two if you need some extra time before or after sailing or another resort. Reasonably priced for what it is.
"Personnel Super Super"

The front desk staff was extremely friendly and helpful! I felt very welcome and the facilities were absolutely beautiful. The location is fantastic with gorgeous views of both the garden as well as the water. The price is also a great value for the quality of this resort. The personnel Anna, Dona and the manager are super super helpful, they will guarantee the transportation ( short ways) service are on time or they will personal take you to your destination. In my case it was important to be on business meeting on time. I got even surprise and admire they know how to speak different languages ( French,Spinach, Italian, Bulgarian, English... I was impress!! Tony

We arrived to the island a little later than expected, by the time we arrived at hotel the front desk was closed but there it was...an envelope with our names and keys to the room. We were in a pleasant shock. The hotel room was amazing, with the most beautiful views we have ever seen. The manager and staff were outstanding. If your looking for a beautiful quiet hotel, this is it. I hope we get to go back and enjoy it again. Michael and Michelle
"Central, beautiful location in a small intimate setting."

If you are looking for the mega resort atmosphere, this will not be the place for you. Here you will find quiet and relaxation without being bombarded by pushy timeshare people. Captain Oliver's is tucked away halfway between the French and Dutch side with an amazing view of the ocean and lovely marina. You can take a ferry direct from there to St. Barths or just simply take a stroll down the dock to check out all of the fantastic yachts. There are many great restaurants on site to choose from including the Captain Oliver's Restaurant, Dinghy Dock, and Mama Pizza. I would most certainly get a rental car so that you may experience all this wonderful island has to offer. I believe a cab runs abt 30 dollars US from the airport should you opt to do that. The staff on site are more than accommodating, and I'm sure would have some recommendations for a rental car once you are there. The staff were all incredibly hospitable, and the rooms were always kept very clean. You will find a small refrigerator to keep a few items and a brew pot for tea or coffee in the mornings. Just a heads up, they do not have a stove for cooking. That said, you are on vacation. Go and enjoy the fantastic restauransts on this island. I had the most incredible meals anywhere we went. The beds were wonderful, very soft. One of our favorite parts of our stay was simply relaxing on our balcony overlooking the ocean. It's a lovely location, and you really can't go wrong unless you are looking to be endlessly harassed by vendors at other locations. I will certainly return and recommend Captain Oliver's to my friends.

Loved the view of the bay. The kitchen facilities could be improved some. There were very few dishes on cooking utensils. The rooms could use a little repair work and upgrading The staff was very helpful and nice. Loved the cats.

Great location in the old Marina. The rooms are spacious, bright with a nice ocean view. The communication with the host is very relaxed and up to give all the information that you need. I recommand Captain Oliver for your perfect stay in Saint Martin.
"One week stay at Captain Oliver's"
08/31/14 Desislava2014 Sofia, Bulgaria
We booked this property because of the excellent deals they were offering on the internet. Upon arrival we were pleasantly surprised with the scenery and the entire complex which is designed in perfect harmony with the surrounding beautiful nature. The rooms are very spacious with splendid views over the ocean and give you a real sens of the Caribbean. The staff went the extra mile to make us feel at home and gave very good advises on restaurants, bars, beaches and places to visit. The ferry to St barth's is very conviniently located at the resort's marina and make a day excursion to the island even easier. This hotel is one of the hidden gem of the Caribbean
