The Cornell was a cute little hotel for the location. Within walking distance to Union Square, it was hard to beat the price. The rooms were super small but VERY clean. What was incredible was the service and the full breakfast included with the cost of the room. I was shocked! They brought me this amazing french toast and my mom ordered eggs, toast, the whole nine yards. Just leave a good tip! Great place if you are in San Fran for shopping or business and need a clean, cute place to crash.

I enjoyed my stay at the Cornell Hotel. Hotel was clean and organized. The staff was friendly and pleasant. My room was quiet and was able to open the window to enjoy the fresh air from outside. I only had two issues, one was that breakfast was not served early enough which made me miss breakfast and parking information was not made clear at check-in, which caused a lot of headaches at the parking garage.

The overall experience was great. Quiet, quaint hotel in a nice area. Was disappointed the dog was not their to meet us, but did see him at a later date. The breakfast was excellent. Overall I would recommend the hotel. The parking was more than quoted on the internet, and down the block, across the street. I, for some reason expected it to be more on the hotel premises.

When we were searching, the reviews were mixed on the Cornell, but we found it to be a very nice, independent hotel, well maintained and in a great location for touring San Francisco. The breakfast was very pleasant, and with the art work in the halls you really got the feel of a small European hotel. The surrounding area is not the best, but there were some nice cafes and restaurants close by, the cable car runs right by the corner, and you can rent a car right across the street. Very enjoyable experience.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the hotel for 2 nights, we loved that the hotel was in a prime location. Only a few blocks from (Market st.) one of the main pick up/drop off points for the cable car. Union Square is in walking distance. Hotel room was nice, but small. There was some construction outside right by our window. There were no screens on our windows, so we couldn't open them to get fresh air. Made the room a little stuffy. I would recommend the hotel to others.

The breakfast the next morning was a nice surprise in the very romantic atmosphere of the French restaurant which is in the same building as the hotel. We would definitely stay at this hotel again.

I was travelling on business with my 10yr-old. When we first arrived, the room they gave us was very small, with furniture that was too big for the room, and with an old T.V. sitting on top of a dresser. The decor was not what I was expecting from a "French" hotel--it was "suburban" French, I guess. This on top of the fact that it appeared to be run and operated by a non-French staff made me want to move to another hotel--it just wasn't what I expected. When I tried to move, I was told that my nights had been paid for via the internet, and that I could not be reimbursed to move to another hotel, but that they could move us to another room, for a little extra money. The new room was much bigger, with a newer T.V., a much bigger bathroom, more light (but same decor, unfortunately). The restaurant was interesting, with nice French Joan of Arc decor, compared to the bedrooms; the free breakfasts were nice, but we never had a big meal there as my kid didn't like eating in the basement. The owners arrived the next day, and they seemed lovely, FRENCH. I needed to check my emails for work, and fortunately was able to use my laptop's wifi in the lobby, otherwise I would have been sunk. All in all the staff was very helpful, the guests quiet; the rooms were a little noisy simply because of the location (and the garbage is picked up in the middle of the night!). I would probably stay at this hotel again, you can't beat the location--very convenient to everything.

This was a great place for me because I met my granddaughter who only works two blocks away and we went all over by cable car or walking. Spent one day just walking in China Town, only two blocks from the hotel. They also have a full American breakfast, which is unusual in this day and age. Usually all you get is Continental breakfast, roll, coffee, fruit (maybe). The hotel was a jewel, to be sure. Very small, you get to know everyone staying there, if they come down to breakfast.
