A lovely place to stay -typically Spanish villa -a real log fire -swimming pool and sun bathing area/garden. Breakfast was very nice, and plenty of it.Afternoon tea/ coffee was in the lounge from 4/5pm.

"Safe and excellent location, the rest sub average"
Located just by the beach in a safe area is what makes this place bearable. Besides that, the rooms and furniture are old and worn out, the bathroom/shower is the smallest I've ever seen and the AC is shut off by default. The ceiling fan is useless, so the rooms are way too hot during summer time. The bathroom faucet is located outside the bathroom (opposite the bed), which I don't like. The rooms were big though. Would stay here again as a last resort, but would prefer something else if possible.

"Great location"
The location of this hotel is one of the best in Town! The only drawback is the reception staff (manager especially) who really should work with something else. The pool area and reception area are great. Rooms are a bit worn and don't stay in Cottage 2 if someone is in 1. Sound proofing does not exist!

The Villa Rosa is a charming and romantic inn. They offer a wonderful wines, cheese, and crackers in the late afternoon. The rooms are clean and feel like a bed and breakfast. The inn is located near shops and restaurants. It is a sweet little inn for those seeking to get away for some romance.

I thought this was a sweet little place, but could use just a little TLC. Has a nice little courtyard with a pool and Jacuzzi, but the Jacuzzi was broken and marked off with police tape...? The breakfast was very good, with make your own waffles and the wine in the afternoon is a nice treat. Room was spacious, but could also use a little TLC. Bathrooms are VERY small. the location is just steps from State Street, the beach and the Funk Zone with lots to offer. We stayed for 3 nights and I found myself wishing I had rented an apartment or picked someplace slightly fancier. Manager was quite nice, but found some of the workers a little uninterested.

Location was great! Right next to beach and the wharf. Easy walk to State street and major nightlife. Inn was small but the service was great. Staff was very friendly and rooms are unique but charming. You get attention that you wont at other places, rooms can use an upgrade but has a comfortable feel. Staff made sure we were happy, asked for a glass of wine and they gave us a bottle. It was great. Cozy spot especially if you don't plan to be in the room all day. What they don't have in upgrades they make up for in service and location. I would stay again.

"Perfect Location"
06/24/15 Jeff S Huntington Beach, California
I stayed here for two nights in early June 2015. I arrived via the southbound Amtrak Coast Starlight, which was to arrive in Santa Barbara at 6:35 pm. Well, it was almost 6 hours late so I had to find this B&B in the middle of night......on foot. I called earlier from the train to say I would be late and the desk attendant said they would "leave the key under the mat", which they did. Very nice. I stayed in an upstairs room that featured a balcony overlooking the pool. There was no A/C but they did have a ceiling fan and a floor fan if needed. I turned them both on and things were more or less comfortable. The rooms are old, carpets in need of replacement and the linens a little on the cheap side. Bathrooms are small and showers even smaller. The view from the balcony was of the pool and spa. A little messy out there plus they were working on the spa all day so could hear that while in my room. But, I liked the quaint feeling of the place. Sure, it's old but the location near the beach and Amtrak station more than compensated. The breakfast was adequate. Cereals, a fruit bowl with less than fresh fruit, waffles, breads, yogurts, pastries and coffee that was REALLY good. The seating area downstairs where the breakfast is served is very comfortable and homey with couches, stuffed chairs, etc. Plus at night, they left out bottles of wine and snacks. No host, just serve yourself. Not the best wine from California, actually Australia, but just fine. Only issue: during my second and last night there were people knocking on doors both next door to mine and across the hall between 2 and 4 in the morning. I don't think they really lock their front door, so that was a little unnerving. I mentioned it to the desk clerk. She was sorry. Lastly, the staff at the Villa Rosa are minimalist hosts in that they interact as little as possible with the guests. No conversation, greetings........nothing. They just work. Seemed odd for a B&B. I'd go back just for the location......

"Quaint,cozy inn"
05/30/15 Kate L Encinitas, California
I stayed here once before with friends so my husband and I stopped here on our way up the coast. It is a cute Spanish style Inn that feels like a house. The common areas include sofas and a fireplace with a great wine and cheese spread in the evening. The room is very clean but the decor is a bit dated. There was no a/c so the room also got a bit stuffy. It's in a great location by the beach and walking distance to SB attractions. Our bathroom had a cute private garden window outside the shower which I loved but no working overhead light. You have to take the few slight needs for repairs with a grain of salt and appreciated the charm of this place.

"Delightful Accommodation"

This Inn is only 1mins walk from the Pier. It's old world Spanish style. The room was comfortable with a fire place and 2 armchairs. The guest lounge had a log fire and was beautifully furnished in period style. There was a pool and hot tub. Guests are invited to happy hour every evening where we enjoyed chatting with other travellers for a couple of hours while enjoying wine and nibbles. Breakfast was also included with fresh fruit, bagels, waffles, Danish pastries and cereal were available. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would love to come back for a longer stay.

"Cute and charming!"
05/23/15 Sue-ie Los Angeles
Absolutely loved our stay in this quaint little inn. The place is very cute and accessible to the beach. We had the split level room and it was very comfortable for the five of us. We used the place to get ready for a wedding and the photos of the interior and exterior of the inn came out gorgeous. Only complaint was that the shower kept getting stuck and we weren't able to get a good pressure from the shower head. And also had some toilet issues. But other than that...it was great! We'll definitely plan to stay here again.

"A Huge Disappointment"

Looking forward to a wonderful Santa Barbara CA trip and the fabulous Spanish Fiesta Days, my daughter and I booked 3 nights at the Villa Rosa Inn. It looks charming from the street but what a surprise once you have your accommodations. Our room, which was super expensive, was in the old part of the Inn apparently old apartments from the 30's. The room was dark, dirty, no screens or shades on the windows so anyone could see in the ground level window. The kitchen was a joke-- couple utensils , couple dishes. It was warm and there is not A/C or fans so we opened the kitchen window and put the stove burner grates in the track to hold the window open and provide a little security! The second bed was in the breakfast nook with no light! So no opportunity to read, in fact so dark throughout we couldn't read at night. This place never would pass AAA inspection. It's an insult to charge so much for substandard accommodations. The person who checked us in was in a tizzy and kept making mistakes- that was the beginning of disappointment. If the room was bad, outside was just as shabby The patios were unkept --gardening tools, old pots were scattered about. The paint was chipping everywhere. Web site says parking! Sure if you get there early enough to get one of the coveted spots otherwise on the street which is strictly controlled. I could go on and on but you got the drift. I've never given a hotel a bad review like this.
