I didn't expect this hotel ,because I paid specific room rate and it was very cheap. But this hotel was great; clean, kind, and great morning buffet-fresh vegetables and fruits and food. I recommend this hotel.

This hotel was in a great location - within walking distance to shopping and the night market. It was secure and the staff was attentive. The spa was fantastic and very inexpensive (about $70 for 3 hours of treatments). The staff spoke English pretty well (except for the waiters in the main restaurant), and the tour desk did an excellent job of setting us up on an elephant trek - an incredible experience. Overall, this hotel was a good choice during our vacation around Asia.

There's an ample supply of hotel rooms in Chiang Mai, which is not overly large, so you can afford to be picky. My party stumbled upon an incredible rate [likely due to the airport protests and subsequent dropoff in tourism]. Thus, it was hard to be disappointed. Still, we were pleased with the overall quality and comfort of the Imperial Mae Ping. The hotel boasts a good location close to the night bazaar, excellent in-hotel travel services, decent English-speaking staff, and a great spa/pool facility. The knocks against the hotel are slight, but not inconsequential: the front desk doesn't seem to be equipped/trained to handle the volume of travelers that stay there, e.g., our room keys expired after the first night, we were asked to wait off to the side upon check-in, then the reception seemed to forget about us after 15-mins, etc. Also, the breakfast, though wide ranging, was not the best we encountered during our travels [though it is hard to beat given the sheer number of people it serves]. The in-hotel computer center is also ridiculously overpriced: 350B/hour or 250B for a half-hour. Once you move past that, the Imperial Mae Ping is a great bet.

The hotel room was somewhat small but the hotel staff was very friendly. Walking to the night market was very easy. Family oriented massage parlors across the street were very inexpensive and convenient.

The overall service and location was great. However, after we had already reserved our rooms in advance, we found out about some substancial hidden charges. We were required to pay for and attend a New Year's Eve party that cost about $90 per person. We had no option in the matter.

Staff was very hospitable; lobby of hotel was nice. However, the room was a disappointment. The bathroom had mold on the tiles, the shower curtain was dirty. The bathroom needed updating. The rug was not in good condition. The service was good.

This hotel is in a great location right in the heart of downtown Chiang Mai - in walking distance to great nightlife and the night bazaar. The lobby is beautiful however the rooms are nothing to write home about. They could use an upgrade or two but all in all it was a decent room for the money. I would recommend this hotel.

I stayed for one night in mid-august and the staff was as helpful and friendly as expected. The best was probably the location. I walked to the old town and saw the beautiful temples but even better was the 5-10 minutes walk to the night bazar.
