Was in a suburb type area. Was quiet but need to drive to get to town or Salthill. Room was kind of warm so needed to have the window open. Would have been nice if they could have provided a fan.

Location of the hotel is def in the suburbs of Salthill. There is nothing within walking distance. Having said that though, centre city Galway, the main street of Salthill, and Spiddal Craft Village are all an easy drive away. Also, main roads and freeways are easy accessed as well. We got a deal which included the night, breakfast, and dinner for two. The price paid for this was decent, but not outstanding. We were fairly happy with the whole experience, although there were some less than satisfactory parts. The leisure center with hot tub was wonderful, although it's a pity it closed so early (8:00 PM). We were only entitled […] to the continental breakfast, not the full breakfast, which seemed a bit cheap because everywhere else we stayed we received the full breakfast. We were supposed to have a choice of dinner in the bar or the nicer restaurant, but when we checked in, we were only directed to the bar. We thought perhaps it was because the restaurant had already closed, but later we discovered that wasn't true. Not sure why the staff at the front desk was not honest with us, and after seeing the menu at the nicer restaurant, I'm pretty disappointed that we did not have the choice of eating there. My fiancee surmised that it was he was casually dressed when we arrived...if that's the case, then I am very annoyed because we both changed clothes before dinner...we had been traveling all day and therefore obviously not dressed in our best upon arrival. The bed was rock hard...very uncomfortable. The hotel bar had live music going on well past midnight that was so loud we could hear it all the way in our room two floors above and it made it difficult to sleep. The hotel is beautiful and very clean. If I were trying to really see Galway, it would be a bit far out, but the surrounding area is very nice. Read more

We stayed a lot of different places in Ireland, and gave this one two nights. It is a bit of a drive from Galway, but doable. There is a bus that goes from the hotel to the city, but it is "on the hour" (late) and with the weather there, we weren't willing to wait 10-15 minutes after the bus's expected time just to avoid taking the car into town. Hotel Clybaun was a good deal and in a good location. Located about 15 minutes outside of downtown Galway, this hotel was very nice. The rooms were typical European sized and were clean & presentable. The staff was friendly, the restaurant food was delicious and the gym available there was great. There is a Dunnes just up the street (it is a grocery […] & home store. Like a Target or a Globus). room was not great. Big stain on carpet, decor very dated and tv could not be viewed by child sleeping in single bed. Not enough towels considering you had to bring them to the pool with you. Which meant you had no clean towels for morning shower. Also 1 tiny bottle of shower wash between 3 people, lucky we brought our own. walls very thin alot of noise […] from the corridor at night time and there was really loud music which could be heard clearly from our room.ladies changing rooms very far away from pool area and mens too small. Stay was fine, hotel was clean and comfortable. The fitness suite and pool were lovely, no complaints there. Two things: the food in the bar is subpar, eat somewhere off-site, and there was no chain lock on my bedroom door, which made me feel uneasy. I had to build a barricade of chairs at the door.

We had a lovely few days in Galway staying at the Clybaun. The staff were very pleasant and the room was clean. We made great use of the swimming pool. The hotel provided a great range of fitness activites but I hadn't brought my workout gear with me...would have loved to try the zumba class. Overall our stay was enjoyable, we loved the outdoor hottub, + we had a lovely massage, the hotel was nice and clean. Our complaints were the insulation of the windows were very poor we could hear the traffic, we were offered no cot for our baby and the room was cramped with our travel cot,+ the menu was limited when you have a yeast intolerence!

We thought that the room and hotel were fabulous. Very clean and modern. One thing that we were very disappointed by was that we tried to get bottles of water from two different vending machines in the hotel and they both swallowed our money. We had a very enjoyable trip to Galway & stayed at the Clybaun Hotel. for 2 nights. The facilities at the hotel are excellent. We had a lovely early bird meal on Sunday eve. I availed of the Swimming Pool in the Leisure Centre which was great. A fine breakfast set us up for the day travelling around Connemara. We stayed two nights but wish we were there […] for longer, especially that the Galway Races were in full swing. I read the mixed reviews and as the hotel was a good price for a weekend stay we went ahead.When we arrived the electricity wasn't working in our room (something to do with keycard). I reported but when returned it still wasn't fixed and had to ring to reception (needed to use shower!). They did move us to a better room (upgraded) but it was all a bit […] annoying.Location isn't too far from Salthill but still driving distance, hotel was quiet and a little dead. The hotel was outside Galway which we knew when we booked but there was an excellent half hourly bus that got you into the city in about 10-15mins. The staff were excellent with a great service at all areas of the Hotel which we interacted with from Reception to the bar and the Leisure centre and Beauty salon. Unfortunately the room itself let down […] what was otherwise a really enjoyable couple of days. It was in need of refurb with a rip in the carpet and the dressing table badly chipped. Also the carpet could do with a good clean. That aside the bedding and bathroom were spotless and despite the cosmetic alterations required in the bedroom the hotel was well worth a visit and excellent value for money. Read more

Overall my experience of this hotel was very poor. Upon my arrival I went to my room to find the bed had a dip in the centre on it and that the spare pillows in the room were dirty and smelly. This was resolved by moving us to another room which was no better. The first morning we went down for breakfast which we paid for on check-in to be told that […] we were not entitled to breakfast. The waitress told us to continue getting the breakfast that she would rectify the situation. Following this she approached our breakfast table to inform us we infant were not entitled to it, in a very rude manner. The evening meal we received was awful with to food being burnt to a crisp and all having to be sent back. Then some of the same food being returned to the table. The manager when I spoke to her was lovely and very helpful yet this was too late as the trip had been completely ruined at this stage. The other staff I come in to contact with were very unhelpful bordering on rude at times. In all I would never stay in this hotel again even if it had the only vacant room in the city. Read more
