We loved everything about our stay...great room, great views (we had a surf pad room), great service and food. The best was the evenings for sunset on the tower deck...wine and food served from the JRDN restaurant downstairs...blankets and cozy time by the firepit. We were pampered and enjoyed every minute of it!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Used to be outstanding, now just overpriced"
I've visited this hotel 4-5 times in the last 7 years, but it's been a couple since the last time. Unfortunately, it's no longer the place it used to be. It's still pretty good, but not for the price they charge nowadays. The rooms are starting to show wear and tear, the beds no longer a cloud upon which you float. Little things missing like shower […] caps and soap for the shower. No complimentary bottled waters. No New Age music playing when you arrive in the room. If you miss the early morning cleaning, your room doesn't get made up without having to call, even if you're gone from 11-3pm. The partial ocean view room that faced the sun deck that I booked wasn't available, so I ended up in one, still with partial ocean view, facing the street. Unfortunately, that street was often so noisy I couldn't hear the ocean, with MANY MANY barely muffled motorcycles that use Feldspar as their private showroom for how much noise they can generate by revving their engines. Over the top was the motorcyclist who used his excursion as an opportunity to show how loud his sound system was, playing a medley of his favorite tunes for everyone including beachgoers to share. Even with the door closed, I could hear every note. Not a 5-star experience, and WAY expensive. Much better values can be found in San Diego on the beach. We ate one night at the Jardin restaurant, and the food was good, service ok, but it took them a half hour to seat us even with a reservation. Again, the price not worth it. "Pacific Beach Boutique"
Wonderful hotel. We loved the modern design, 2nd floor deck, great restaurant, happy hour and location. Our only disappointments were poor air conditioner in our room and we were not able to check in early.Genuine Expedia guest review
The "Pacific Beach" area of SD is great for the under 40 crowd. We reserved a suite (the most expensive rooms) assuming it would be ocean front. We had to twist our necks around to get a view of it! The second floor rooms open out to a central "plaza" giving no security to the room if you want to sleep with your door open. And many of the guests enjoyed […] partying in it, so it was noisy. The room was very large and nice, even tho the previous tenant had vomited on the carpet and it hadn't been completely cleaned up. We were moved the 2nd night because of that, but only were given $100 credit. The restaurant was fantasic! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Amazing vacation felt like I was in Hawaii"
The hotel was not only in the best location possible, the staff was so friendly and extremely accommodating. Any time we needed anything we had it within minutes. The views are the absolute nicest views and the location is perfect for walking everywhere. The rooms were clean and modern and the 2nd floor deck was perfect to relax on. "Beach Business Trip"
This hotel is small and easy to get around in. The location is excellent-right on the boardwalk with plenty of restaurants and other attractions nearby. Rooms and beds are comfortable and the hotel was quiet at night. Great bar and excellent restaurant overlooking the ocean-I'll be coming back next year.Genuine Expedia guest review
The AC was loud and vent rattled. Complained and they tried to fix but still was noisy so sleep was difficultGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Great hotel with excellent view, location, and service. Only drawback is no pool but great lounge deck and beach access.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Friendly staff, clean hotel, beautiful beach view!"
My fiancée and I booked this hotel based off of user reviews- we were visiting friends in San Diego and wanted a hotel right on PB. Upon arrival, the staff was incredibly friendly and courteous- they sent complimentary welcome drinks of Rum Punch to our room. The room was very clean, with a beautiful view of the beach. We sat on the main patio and had […] drinks and apps to watch the sunset- I couldn't say more to compliment the staff, the hotel conditions, and the location. Everything was perfect. "Great PB Hotel"
Very nice hotel right on the beach in PB. Nice modern and comfortable rooms. Great location with access to all of PB. Surprisingly excellent restaurant on premise. Try their Sunday brunch or outstanding sandwiches. Rent a bike for free and cruise the coastal walkways.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Shockingly Rude Staff"
I rented 3 rooms at the hotel, upon returning back to the hotel, the security guard flayed me in the lobby, in front of other guests, for someone who had food poisoning from their restaurant and had vomited. I didn't even know the story yet, because I had just arrived, and was in the dark on the situation. So I had to be informed of everything, being […] degraded and disciplined liked a child, in front of other patrons. If you want just a beautiful view, stay here, if you want to be treated well also, do yourself a favor and go stay at the Hyatt Regency just down the street. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great location on Mission Beach"
The hotel is literally directly in front of the boardwalk - the location couldn't be better! We loved being able to leave our car with the valet and walk places along the beach. The only drawbacks are the lack of a pool and that people are allowed to smoke on the patio area. Everything else was perfect! Very modern decor, great toiletries, very cle […] an! "Wonderful location - cool vibe, no kids!"
I have stayed all over San Diego over the past 4 years as my son is now a senior at USD. Downtown hotels have many personal safety problems, in my view, as a single woman over 40. Homeless folks are everywhere and it doesn't appear they have anywhere to go, so they aggressively panhandle. This includes the area near Petco Park, as well as the Gaslamp. […] My son now lives in Pacific Beach, so I decided to stay near him at Tower 23. I have found my spot! Many positives: oceanfront, no screaming kids in the hallways, stylish vibe, great personal service level, many nearby restaurant options on Garnet and Mission Blvd. Many young people live in the area making for an active atmosphere. There are homeless here on the boardwalk, but far outnumbered by the folks who live here. Loved the white-and-turquoise theme - it's a beautiful hotel. I will be back. Many times, I hope! "Beautiful view--for a price"
Our stay was for 2 nights and we enjoyed beautiful views from our oceanfront room. Other than that, I don't think it was worth the high price we paid: - high speed internet not reliable ( they were "working on it") - reported drain problem never received attention (and by the time we checked out, all drains were clogged and backing up) - our request […] for window seating at their restaurant was not met--even though the place was nearly empty when we arrived - although the sun deck was beautiful, it was not exclusive to the hotel guests - beds were very comfortable - bathroom was cramped and toilet not inclosed - room was attractive and well-designed - be aware of high level of noise (from the outdoor dining and beach visitors on the main walkway) - staff was friendly but not reliable Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Nice, but not what we were expecting"
Overall good stay, amazing location right on the beach and walking distance to everything. Stayed during July 4th week so the hotel and area was extremely busy. Based on the price per night, we were expecting a little more luxury and space. We were 2 couples sharing a room and it was super small. Beds were comfortable though and bathroom was large and […] nice. Also thought the restaurant breakfast was a little over priced but the hotel bar was fun. I would recommend the hotel and would stay again, this time expectations would be a little lower. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great location - wonderful staff!"
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful experience at Tower 23. The staff was fantastic and the concierge even called us a few days before our trip to ask us if there were any activities we wanted to do or any restaurants we wanted to try out while we were in San Diego. She also offered to recommend restaurants based on what we felt like eating that night. […] The housekeeping staff was also very intuitive and was prompt with bringing us any extra items we needed throughout the week. We ate at the hotel's restaurant, JRDN, which was fantastic, and even returned for cocktails the following evening. The location of the hotel couldn't be better, it is right on the beach and only a short walk from restaurants, shopping, and bars. The room was very clean, modern, and comfortable, and the chocolates on our pillows each night wasn't bad either! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Well. We found a used condom under our couch after dropping my eye drops and getting them from under the couch. Also, the mini fridge was broken. Great older hotel right on Venice beach. The staff was extremely helpful!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We had a spectacular experience at Tower 23. We were recommended to stay at this hotel by 2 sets of friends, and we're so glad we listened to them. The hotel is located right along the beach and every room has a partial/full view of the ocean. The minute we walked in, we were greeted by a friendly concierge and received a view upgrade to our room. Our […] luggages were already neatly placed by the time we walked into our room. The entire room and the towels smelt like fresh laundry every day, and there was prompt turn down service every night. The hotel has strong wifi throughout its premises, has a great restaurant and bar called JRDN with excellent service (we had a delicious breakfast there one morning, and literally listened to the ocean waves as we were sipping our coffee), and also offers complimentary bikes to all hotel guests to ride along the Pacific Beach boardwalk. We were most impressed with their head concierge - Jacky, who delivered above and beyond by giving us a surprise bottle of champagne for my birthday as well as a list of recommended activities and restaurants to visit during our stay. She also offered to make reservations for us, which was great. Tower 23 has everything a boutique hotel should have and exceeded our expectations with the level of service they offered. We will definitely be recommending Tower 23 to all of our friends who plan on visiting San Diego, and we look forward to returning again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good for couples"
The hotel was clean and well maintained. The deck view to ocean was terrific, small stand shopping and good restaurants are all with in walking distance. Only 15 minute drive into downtown (no traffic in the SD area when we stayed).Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel on the beach!!"
Tower 23 is a great hotel choice if visiting San Diego for any reason. Sea World is a 5 minute drive and other popular destinations in San Diego are a 10-15 minute drive. Hotel is located right on Pacific Beach. Walking distance to shopping, local beach bars, small café’s, restaurants, CVS, Starbucks, and several other places to enjoy. On-site restaurant […] JRDN has great selection of dinner, appetizers, and drinks if you don’t want to leave the hotel. Snacks on the Tower Deck can be ordered or room service is offered. Hotel staff was helpful and welcoming from the valet, reception desk, JRDN restaurant, and room service. Stayed in the “Sky Pad” that had a great partial ocean view from the balcony on one side. Room was comfortable, tempurpedic bed, nice pillows, and great linens. Only minor complaint would be the walls were a little thin, if your neighbor is watching a loud movie, you will hear it. Overall, hotel location and Tower Deck are wonderful and make for a great relaxing stay. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and I would definitely stay here again next time I visit San Diego! "Best on Pacific Beach...."
Everyone is very friendly from the valet parking attendants to the front desk to housekeeping. Room are very clean and comfortable. The restaurant JRDN located in the hotel is also a good pick. Be sure to pick a surf pad room to get the beautiful view of the Pacific and for people watching. Rooms that are close to the elevator might be a little noisier, […] however our room was very quiet. I wouldn't think this would be the best pick for families with small kids, but for adults I would say it is perfect. A lovely place.... Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Beautiful boutique hotel"
The hotel was lovely and clean and the food at the ajoining restaurant was very good. Would be great for a romantic getaway. However, I would steer families with children to someplace different. No swimming pool or gym facility. The hotel would do well to add some board games, DVDs, etc. We were able to rent bikes across the street, however.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Friendly staff greeted us and sent up welcome cocktails to our room to greet us. Stylish, comfortable rooms. Loved leaving the door cracked and hearing the ocean waves all night. Incredible breakfast downstairs the next morning, overlooking the ocean. FantasticGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Valentine's getaway"
Perfect location along a paved walkway overlooking the ocean in the Pacific Beach area not far from La Jolla. Watched the surfers everyday. Great eating places within walking distance: Isabel's Cantina, Enoteca Adriano, Fat Fish, and of course Kono's (surfer themed diner) next door with $6 breakfast specials. The hotel has a good restaurant too. This […] is a beautiful contemporary boutique hotel (only 3 floors) and was SO quiet yet offered great people-watching from the hotel's 2nd floor terrace looking out to the walkway/ocean, with wait staff to bring you food and drinks. Hotel was SO clean too. All the employees were extremely friendly and polite. Would definitely go back again! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great hotel but noisy"
It would be a perfect hotel if it wasn't for the flimsy construction that results in you hearing a lot of noise. The high cost of amenities is also somewhat off putting. If it wasn't for that the hotel would be perfect. What a great location.Genuine Expedia guest review
"a great hotel in a great location, with caveats"
A nice hotel that reminded me of a "W" in a great location on Pacific Beach with lots of surfers to watch from my ocean facing balcony. I booked a Sanctuary (Junior) Suite originally, but upgraded to the Sweet (Master) Suite after checking in and finding out that my original booking was not ocean front, and had only a peek-a-boo water view. The Master […] Suite was a terrific room with a great view of water, surfers, joggers, etc. Lots of good people watching in a very active and popular location. Some oddities -- After getting into their largest, best and most expensive suite with two balconies and two bathrooms, I was surprised to find only 5 hangers in the closet and limited storage space, a bathroom scale that did not work, and a fluorescent light in the headboard that was flickering. There are many great restaurants within walking distance and I recommend those over the hotel dining. The hotel is just 3 stories, and on the ground floor is a very popular bar that I could see and hear from my balcony. It was very active and loud until midnight when it closed, so don't plan on sleeping before then. On my last night in the hotel, some people checked into the room below. They were blasting music and actually screaming and yelling until after 2 am, and the music began again at 7am the next morning. I let the desk know at checkout, and the clerk hardly seemed to care and did not offer me anything as compensation for a lost night of sleep in their best room. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Partial view vs full view"
Extremely partial view for most rooms except high priced rooms. Second level you will have to put up with guests right outside your room. We were looking for a private balcony and with the help of Hotels.com and the hotel they were able to move us. Thanks for that! The hotel's restuarant is pricey but the best meal ever!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Skip it unless you're fronting a lifestyle"
For the price we paid for the room, I'd say the "memory foam bed" was awful. It was completely broken down and it seemed like instead of purchasing a new mattress (which they can easily afford to do at the prices they charge) the hotel merely purchased a low quality memory foam topper, (which was also broken down!). Also, if you want to use a laptop, […] better bring an lengthy extension cord, because they've designed the room to not have any outlets anywhere near the beds (who made that ridiculous decision?). Fortunately maintenance brought one for us. Other than the terrible sleep, things were nice. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
