The Tarrytown House is a great place to stay if you are going to a Yankee Game. There is a train station a mile or so away with excellent service to / from Yankee Stadium. The trip along the Hudson is quite scenic, and less congested than the City subways. The hotel is clean and comfortable. The grounds are lovely and the staff very courteous.

I am a rep for a few Emergency Vehicle Manufacturers. I've stayed there a few time. On our most recent stay, we pulled two ambulance vehicles up to the registration entrance (the few parking spaces near the door were occupied). We pulled up on the edge of the driveway allowing adequate room for any size vehicle to pass. I was greeted by a gentleman in a maintenance shirt whom asked if he could help me. I responded "no, thank you, I'm all set". "He responded you can't leave those there". I explained that we where just checking in and that we would be moving the vehicle momentarily. He ordered us to move the vehicle and park in a lot down the hill. (the nearest lot over 50 yards away was blocked off) This lot was over a hundred yards away down hill form the door! We moved our vehicles, hike back up the door and I asked to speak with the manager. Only to discover from this somewhat apologetic manager that the individual was the head of security. I would have expected him to be in a suit working at such an "upscale" hotel, but maybe he was working a special operation and needed to look like he should be operating a weed eater. Throughout the remainder of our stay I observed other hotel and outsourced maintenance vehicles, truly blocking the only driveways in and out of the property. Clearly, this hotel does not value business travelers all though they seem to need booking during the week.

My boyfriend and I decided to leave the city for Labor Day Weekend but didn't want to go too far, so the 35 minute drive was ideal. I had already been here before and knew what to expect from the grounds, but the room was a lovely surprise. One downer: You sign a "no alcohol consumption in the room" agreement upon entering, but of course their Cellar 49 and poolside bars are topped with liquor. *Note: They provide rackets and balls for the tennis and racquetball courts.

We are from out of town and were taking our daughter back to school and wanted our last evening together to be special. The hotel and the grounds seemed like a ghost town. After checking in we wanted to get snacks and a drink but it was very difficult to find the restaurant/bar (we and another couple were searching for it together - it was in the basement and not clearly marked). The room was comfortable but had a musty odor like there was a moisture problem near the AC unit. We also were settling in to watch our favorite HGTV show and discovered they don't have the channel. What hotel of any substance doesn't have such a popular channel? Call me shallow! The overall experience was a disappointment.

There were a few problems with my stay. Firstly, I thought I had a confirmed room with a king bed...but when I went to check-in, I was told that there were no king bed rooms available, but that my room would have two queen beds. This wasn't something I was ecstatic about, but there was no use in arguing. We then had to drag our bags down 2 flights of stairs to get to the elevator that would finally take us to our floor. It was a little irritating, but nothing more than that. However, when we got to our room (which was quite nice and clean), we quickly saw that the 2 beds were full-size, not queen. It was tough enough sleeping in a smaller bed than I am used to, but in addition to that, the walls are terribly thin. so thin, in fact, that I could clearly hear other guests' conversations and tvs in the rooms next to me. I didn't get a single night of descent sleep while I was there. the grounds, room, and sport facilities were nice and I imagine that the outdoor pool would have been amazing if it weren't for the fact that it was raining all weekend.

The setting and idea of Tarrytown House could be a high class resort, if only they made some modest upgrades to the decor and style and improved the quality of the service the staff provides. I kept hoping the service would get better and it never improved. They were short staffed and the staff was not polite and it was always an imposition to ask them for anything. We booked a King Non smoking and the first night we were in a room with two Queen beds, it was a basement room with black large ants. The 2nd night we were moved to a nicer room on the 2nd floor that was in fact a king non smoking. If only the service would've been better we would've enjoyed our experience more. It was memorial day weekend and they had 3 seperate weddings going on, however there were things they could've done to make our stay more enjoyable but the attitude of the staff was let's just offer the bare minium. I wouldn't recommend going there to anyone and I won't return. If your having a wedding maybe it's worth it to you. They probably accomadate big ticket weddings over 2 night guest stays.

When we checked in, we were about 45 minutes early for the 4:00 check in, however the check in process was fine, and we were able to get into our room. The lady at the front desk was very pleasant. Our room was cold, there were no extra blankets or pillows so we were cold and did not get a good nights rest. When we asked if they provided turn down service, and asked for extra towels, as there were only 2 bath towels in our room, we were told that yes they provide turn down service and would bring extra towels. A few minutes later the front desk called and informed me that they would be happy to provide us with turn down service, but it would cost $25.00 and that included robes. We declined. I have never heard of that charge for turn down service. Our room ,especially the bathroom needs updating. The wallpaper is tired and there was mold on areas of the tub/shower. Overall, we thought that the customer service was not at the level we thought it would be. The grounds are lovely, but the hotel was a disapointment.

Tarrytown House- Estate and Conference Center (Tarrytown,NY). I stayed for eight nights in the Putnam Wing. Pros: Absolutely beautiful grounds. Deer and geese are seen at night. The buildings are historic and regal in nature. You really do feel like you are on an estate. With that in mind, if you are looking for a bit of peace and quiet, and more isolation (and time for yourself), then this is the right place. My bedroom had a deluxe King-size bed; coffee/tea maker; hairdryer, ironing board. The room was very clean upon arrival, and daily housekeeping kept it that way. The flat screen TV offered Pay per View movies if you so desired. The staff were very helpful and attentive; check in and check out were a breeze; and they were happy to accomodate to make my stay worthwhile. You are very close to I-275, Rt 9A, and 119W/E. If you drive down 119E, you will find lots of shops, restaurants. Cons: If you have a room in the Putnam wing, be prepared to have a bit of a walk from the lobby to your room. I had to walk down a long hallway, then down two flights of stairs, another long hallway, and then a short elevator ride to the 1st floor. The bell staff is more than happy to help you with your luggage; but be prepared because it is a bit of a journey. The place takes a bit of getting oriented; it's kind of like a maze. But once you walk around a bit, you'll get familiar with the routes you need. Be aware that there are HOUSE RULES (regarding visitors, noise, parking, alcohol, etc.) Overall, I had a very pleasant stay here. I was looking for a cozy place to rest, and get some peace and quiet, and I definitely found that here.

Also, the hallways are set up like a maze. Make sure you leave breadcrumps behind to find your way back to your room!

Location of the property was very relaxing while being close to the Tarrytown train station. The entire staff was very helpful and went out of their way to help us, I never hesitated to ask a question. One of the most comfortable hotel rooms I have ever stayed in, gym facilities were well equipped, and the food was excellent.

No complaint about the room, which was large and well appointed. But this place is a conference center, located on a huge campus. You either have to walk (start early) or take your car to get from building to building. It may say "breakfast" on the description, but with an on-line booking, it doesn't come with the package. It's an elegant buffet, but if you want it, it's $25 per person. (We declined.) The staff we encountered had a bad case of attitude, giving unclear directions, then making us feel stupid because we returned to ask them to clarify what they'd said. There are nicer and more convenient places to stay in Tarrytown

The hotel staff was outstanding! A very beautiful place to stay. With the costs of the room there should be a continental breakfast included; taking into consideration a more reasonable cost regarding children. Overall, we would stay again!

It was absolutely breathtaking. I was so impressed, and it really did exceed my expectations and I've stayed at many other well known name brand hotels, but this did it for me. The bedding was absolutely wonderful, so soft, didn't want to leave the room. Bathroom was very clean and elegant. Loved the flat screen tv as well. Definitely coming back, and recommend to everyone.
