"Can't wait to go back"
I honestly can't say enough good things about this place. The property is beautiful, the service is outstanding, breakfast was delicious and the location is just a block back from State St. Wine and horderves at 5pm... need I say more? It is an honest bed and breakfast that someone put a lot of hard work into and it shows. We can't wait to go back. Its the perfect weekend get away from LA.

"A B&B that is A+"
Our first visit to the Cheshire Cat... It is a wonderfully quaint Inn that is impeccably designed and maintained for the comfort of the guests... Our room was wonderful and very comfortable... The staff was gracious, helpful and provided an excellent wine and cheese refreshment in the evening... They also offer late-night brownies and a morning breakfast ... Please consider staying here... You will be very pleasantly surprised by how effortless perfection can look.

"Lovely house and staffs!!"
It was my first time staying in an inn like this, and I will absolutely recommend it to friends and families when they are going to Santa Barbara in the future. I spent two nights there. Every night after a lovely snack/champaign time with all those nice people, I would sit in front of the fireplace and read a book, feeling like staying at home. Every staff working there was very willing to have a pleasant conversation with you or to give you advices of diners and directions. The room I had was very clean and lovely as well.

"Nice B&B close to State Street"
My wife and I stayed at the Cheshire Cat Inn over Thanksgiving. We stayed in the Cheshire Cat's Room in the Main House. The room was very large, comfortable, and romantic. Had a separate shower and jacuzzi tub. The bed was a large king and very comfortable. Room was very clean. Great TV for watching some Thanksgiving weekend football and the wireless internet worked great! The only downside to the room is that it is located on the main floor in the Main House near the kitchen and dining room, so can get a bit noisy in the morning if you want to sleep in. However, it also made it extremely convenient for me to bring my wife her breakfast to the room on the days she didn't want get up that early (the staff will also bring your breakfast to your room, if you ask, but my wife pretty much views that as my job...) Although stated as a "continental breakfast", I found the choice of breakfast selections to be more than adequate. The morning they served quiche, it was delicious. Also enjoyed the wine and hors d'oeuvres served each evening as well as the chocolate chip cookies at night. Was happy that there was plenty of free parking right behind the house and that the location was just a block from State Street and all the downtown sights were within walking distance. We also took the shuttle that goes down State Street to the beach and waterfront restaurants. Would highly recommend this as a great place to stay while enjoying Santa Barbara.

"Memorable Visit"
It was a well taken care of B&B and the staff, cocktail hour and breakfast were terrific. It was in a good location off State St. with nice off the street parking area. Unless you have good, healthy legs, the many steps and shallow depth stairs will be a large burden. We originally werre slated for a second floor suite but one look at our struggles on the stairs, the staff lady, Connie, let us have a cancelled reservation on the cottage for the same price. Thank goodness!

"Thanksgiving week"
Our room was the Doormouse and while it was well furnished we felt cramped. Fortunately, we spent only sleeping time there as our schedule was full but we do like to spread out a bit. We understand there are larger rooms though we only entered one other down the hall that had just been vacated. It had a balcony and that would have worked better for us. Breakfasts were superb and service was great. Met some very nice folks, as well. Easy walking distance to State Street.

"Cheshire Cat Inn is located in a wonderful area."
Flew down to LAX, rented wheels & headed to Santa Barbara & our stay st the Cheshire Cat Inn...... Why Santa Barbara? Because its a fav spot for us! And we flew down to get married at the Santa Barbara County Clerks Office on Wed. Nov 20th. Found the Cheshire Cat Inn on line when we were checking for places to stay and the look of the place really spoke to us. As it were, the room we'd originally wanted was under some construction, so we were upgraded to the "Alice" room. LOVED it! With it's deck & view of the gardens, gazebo with hot tub (and yes - we did have an evening soak) and everything.

"Couldn't have been nicer"
We were delighted with the Cheshire Cat Inn in every way. The staff was very attentive and helpful. Suzanne and Connie were kind and informative hostesses. The kitchen is busy all day with cookies baking and preparations for evening hors d'oeuvre, wine and tea. The location is great, near all civic attractions, set in a mostly Victorian neighborhood of beautifully maintained old homes. I enjoyed the hot tub in the garden gazebo after a day of exploring Santa Barbara. We stayed in the Dormouse Room which had everything we needed for a comfy stay. Even my husband was pleased with this Inn and that is something!

"Excellent - loved this place!"
Went to Santa Barbara from San Diego by train to see Steely Dan at the Santa Barbara Bowl. The Innkeeper was friendly and the accommodations were clean and cozy. We walked or took short cab rides everywhere and it was in a peaceful residential neighborhood which made it feel like we were coming "home" each night. Breakfasts were delicious and Connie, the Innkeeper was very personable. Highly recommend them and will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Santa Barbara.

"Great Place, but noisy traffic"
Very nice Bed and Breakfast. Great service and food. Only issue was traffic noise as the Hotel sits on the corner of a busy one way street. Cars pass by at 45 miles an hour all night long .Very loud as the historic nature of the building does not allow for dual glazed windows. It is a nice place, just take earplugs.

"Pleasantly surprised"
Booked this last minute when I had an emergency stay in Santa Barbara. Most hotels in town were booked. I knew nothing of the place and grabbed the last room left. I arrived at 11pm very tired and weary. The place was lovely as were the people. It was a charming B&B and I was so glad to find this lovely respite on such short notice. I would definitely come back again.

"The Perfect B&B"
This Inn has it all! The Inn itself is beautiful and meticulously maintained, with cozy rooms, a quaint courtyard and blossoming garden. The daily breakfast has ham, cheese, boiled eggs, fruit cups, yogurt, cereal, homemade banana bread or scones and something hot from the kitchen. At 5:00, after a day of biking, whale watching, beaching or shopping (all excellent), be sure to have the complimentary wine and snacks, such as cheese, deviled eggs, crudités, and bruschetta (among other tasty offerings). A dip on the hot tub before or after dinner is delightful...and before bed they offer freshly baked cookies and brownies! All the extras, and the loving attention to detail, make this a real value as well. And the icing on the cake is the friendly and helpful staff, the free parking and free WiFi. Perfect!

We stayed at Mock Turtle. Even though it's a smaller room than most, it still has room for a small round table and two chairs. Very cozy and intimate. Bed is very comfortable and better than most hotel beds. Love the small blue flowers wall paper and the periwinkle bathroom walls. Didn't notice traffic noise as the windows face the quieter street. Hotel provides wonderful hors-d'œuvre including wine and cheese during happy hour. Coming back in the evening, we were pleasantly surprised to see some brownies treats by the front door as late night snack. The next morning, we were offered a very good continental breakfast in bed. Overall a most wonderful experience. The romantic hotel grounds will certainly tempt us to come back again in the future.

I've never stayed in a B&B before because I heard creepy things. This place set the bar high for my first B&B experience. Pleasant atmosphere, great restored building, nice garden... this place has it all. The food was awesome, and they even through a little garden happy hour daily which was unexpected and nice. Awesome parking lot on site. Wifi was free and worked well. I felt like I came home when I got here as was welcomed with open arms. "We'll definitely be back!"
We loved the Cheshire Cat Inn. The rooms were very clean and quiet, the food was terrific in the morning, and we enjoyed getting to know some of the other guests. We stayed in the Mad Hatter room, which we found to be cozy and comfortable. It's on the side of building facing the street. We were not bothered by street noise, but if you are the type of person who would be, then ask for a room away from the street. Street noise is very modest, anyway, since the inn is not right on State Street. Also, regarding the location, the inn is just a block off of State Street, and about 3 blocks away from where State Street starts to get interesting. So, you're very close, but not right in the hustle and bustle. We'll be back at some point!

"Wonderful weekend away in our home town"
We live about 45 minutes away, but work and play in Santa Barbara. For our anniversary we decided we wanted to be able to stay up late, see live music, without the long drive home. The Cheshire Cat Inn was a lovely option for us. The 5:00 wine and cheese hour was a treat. The room was nice (the beds were comfortable, but not the pure luxury we are use to in some hotels). The Sunday breakfast was delicious.

I picked this place because it was so American looking & rwally wanted to stay somewhere like this on our Californian road trip and it didn't disappoint. The room was beautiful with Molton Brown toiletries. The breakfast was fantastic & it was lovely coming down the stairs to breakfast in the morning with people chatting in the dinning room & others sitting in the entrance area on beautiful layer out tables or you could take your breakfast out to the garden if you wish. We loved the experience & would definitely recommend. Set in a quiet & pretty residential road.

This B&B is a must stay when in Santa Barbara (well worth every penny of its room price!!) There is free secure onsite parking and the whole place is Alice in Wonderland themed, with every room being fabulously individually designed. There is a communal terrace with canapes and wine served at 5pm, and brownies served at 8pm, and a big and varied buffet breakfast the following morning. Our room overlooked the terrace but was still quiet at night time. Our room had an ensuite bathroom with a lovely clean and good sized bathroom, complete with Molton Brown toiletries. The Inn keeper gave us a great tour round when we first got there and was more than hospitable during our stay there. It is about a mile and a half from the main restaurants, bars and shops in Santa Barbara and about 2 miles from the wharf. There is a Jacuzzi in the gardens but this was out of use due to the drought in California. There is also an on site spa which you can book into for facials and massages, but this is quite pricey.

Great location. It would help if all establishments were forced to show their bathrooms in their photo gallery. This bathroom was very ordinary for the cost of the accommodation. Loved every minute of our stay here. Attention to detail was excellent. Fabulous home made breakfasts, canapés/ drinks and snacks prior to bedtime. We have been in California for 15 nights with 6 hotel/B and B stays in various locations. This was the best/most enjoyable overall. Although it was a distance from the beach the location was excellent for restaurants and a stroll down State Street. A leisurely walk to the beach is an ideal day spent and a small tourist bus will get you back almost to Cheshire Cat for 50c to save the walk back. Easy to walk to the Courthouse which was well worth the visit too.
