Although a bit out of the way, but it was an excellent place to stay. The staff was extremely helpful. The restaurant food was not bad as well. The room was basic, but clean. Have to watch the bathroom windows....they leak when it's raining and there might be a flood in the bathroom. The hotel is located some distance from the main tourist section of town, but there was a shuttle service that operated during the morning and evening. The staff was very attentive, the room fairly large, and there was a spectacular view of the bay.

I traveled with two of my friends to Italy and we had the most amazing experience at the Johanna Park Hotel. Johanna herself is super sweet and amazingly helpful - she contacted friends of hers to help make different arrangements for us, such as trips to Capri and transport back to Naples airport for our departure - all at reasonable (and better than […] we found) costs. Her staff is fantastic also - they greeted us with a warm welcome and were extremely attentive. Most everyone spoke English very well, which was not expected but certainly helpful (we had our English to Italian dictionary with us 24/7!). The hotel is pretty far from downtown Sorrento (about a 10 minute drive up a windy, crazy road) but Johanna offers a shuttle that drops you off whenever you'd like downtown and you just call her when you want picked up and they send someone to get you. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant twice during our stay and it was really good - nothing absolutely out of this world spectacular but good, solid Italian food. Also, they went above and beyond, giving us desserts, fresh fruits, etc. when we hadn't ordered them - they were really incredible and amazing. I never leave reviews for hotels however felt that I had to encourage others to give Johanna Park a chance as it was an incredible experience as far as a hotel goes. We had a great view of the bay and a nice balcony off our room as well. The room was clean, we had a mini-fridge which was nice, and the bathroom was really pretty large, especially for Europe. I've never had a better experience at a hotel as far as the staff goes - it was really amazing how wonderful and warm everyone was - they weren't nosy or intrusive but if you wanted or needed something you always got a quick response. Johanna also provided us recommendations of certain things to see and do, of which we're happy we followed as some of them truly made our trip! We have to congratulate the owner Johanna on the quality and individuality of her hotel. It is a small hotel located close to many tourist attractions such as Pompei and Vesuvius, during the daytime it is usually very quiet and peaceful. True it is not cordon bleau, but a good standard of well cooked fresh food. The choice of food is smaller than you would get from a larger hotel, but as a family of four, with two fussy boys we have eaten well and are more than happy. The head waiter takes great pride in the restaurant, and is charming helpful and very friendly. The rooms like the rest of the hotel are exceptionally clean and the maid service very good. The decor is very Italian, and perhaps not to everyone's taste, but we really liked it. Five stars from us and well done Johanna! There is free Wi-Fi which is unlimited, and two free computers to use downstairs. The staff including Johanna are so friendly and make you feel very welcome, to make the hotel a real home from home. We were given personal care and attention. Nothing was too much trouble for them. A friendly welcome and excellent views of Bay of Naples (& Vesuvius). Staff most eager to please and minibus into town was excellent and saved having to find (non-existent) parking! Eating out is expensive and sadly uninspiring; as is the hotel menu that didn't change over the 5 nights we were there! However, maitre d' was an absolute gem! Plenty of […] lively coach party guests meant an early symphony of plumbing pipes most mornings, but rooms otherwise very comfortable. Wifi only available in reception/lounge, but there is open internet access via PC. A climb to the top of Vesuvius is a must, and there is parking about 200m from the summit, just follow the signs from the autostrada. The views are superb, but the tacky shops are disappointing. Pompeii is also most worth a visit; but leave yourself plenty of time to look round and be prepared for parking sharks! We would certainly recommend the Johanna Park for a stay in Sorrento, but the way to see the area is definitely from a boat and not from the winding and overcrowded roads - unless you are into "Monte Carlo or Bust!" I can tell a lot about the clean room, great breakfast and all other boring stuff... However, I think that the best thing would be to tell you about the staff: We came to this hotel with a car from Florence. After 600 Km, in the mountains before Sorrento, the clutch died and we were stuck with the car at 3:00AM in the middle of the highway, 11 Km north […] of Sorrento. Me, my wife, a child, a baby and a grandmother... Europcar road service did not answer at this hour. We contacted the hotel and asked for help. They immediately called Europecar and invited them to pick up the car. Then, they came with their own pickup truck, at the middle of the night, and took all of us to the hotel (within 20 minutes from the time we called them). They did not ask for a single Euro for their service. Everything was done fast in a most pleasant way with a smile. I think that the staff is the most important property of this hotel. Strting from this reception men who came at night, continuing with the waiter at teh restaurant which served us very well and helped us with the mess that our 2 years old daughter made there and ending with the owner of this hotel, Johana, which has a great, wide heart open to help anyone who come there with always a smile. Treat yourselves to a 1 or 2 week stay here and be spoiled to death. We have stayed in 'grander' hotels but never in one that gave such a wonderful service. From the chamber maid thru to Mrs Johanna herself - no one could do enough for us on our 2 week stay there. For location,service, friendliness and cleanliness give it 5 stars. All it lacks is a […] larger swimming pool - which is scheduled for year end. A newer shuttle bus would be nice - but as the bus runs are free, one can always use a taxi instead at a cost of 20 euros each way. We had a wonderful week long stay at the Johanna Park in Sorrento. Very relaxing after a busy schedule in places further north. The staff were very professional and helpful. Friendly, family run hotel. We arrived tired after driving from Rome via the coast road around Naples. We we greeted in a most welcoming manner and quickly shown to a very reasonable room with a superb view of the bay of Naples including Vesuvius. The menu in the restaurant is good and not too long with a number of local variants of Italian standards […] all reasonably priced for the region. The house wines are perfectly drinkable if not exciting and reasonably priced. We eat in the restaurant six out of our eleven nights and often had the special of the day which was always excellent. We particularly liked the Lasagna Neapolitan as a first course. The shuttle bus was very convenient and usually very flexible, when they were busy it followed an hourly schedule. My wife and I stayed 11 nights and from the start were made to feel almost one of the family. There were regular tour buses brought American and Australian tours for one or two nights which occasionally got a bit noisy but never a problem. Overall we found all the staff friendly and helpful, they nearly all spoke good English which made me feel almost ashamed that I hadn't learned more Italian. The local area is great scenery and the public transport is definitely less stressful and easier on the nerves than driving; I probably would not hire a car next time. If I go to the region again I will definitely stay in this very pleasant hotel. Read more

You cant walk to the city, it is dangerous, very narrow roads. If you dont have a car the hotel offers a shuttle every 2 hours or so. The Hospitality of Johanna Park and Elvira is the best our family has ever received. Let me give some examples Upon arrival we were welcomed to the hotel and I had some challenges that I needed help with. Where to park the Car when going to the Island of Capri. I was told that I could leave the car with the hotel for free even if we had checked out. […] It would be safe in their care! Then it was time to go to the city of Sorrento and we needed transporte. Elvira then offered and brought us there in her personal car and showed hospitallity beyond measure. At dinner/breakfast the waitor was very nice and attentive+remembered exactly what we had had the morning before for breakfast. At time of departure we got the best direction and ride to get to the ferry. Coming back the day following to get the car the hotelride picked us up upon calling the hotel as previously stated post checking out! Hence arriving at the hotel we were offered coffee and the kids got hot chocolate and we were overwelmed by the kindness by the hotelpersonel. This is an establishment that truely cares about service and comfort that I am happy to recommend not only at this site but also to friends going to the region. We have nether been so well received / treated ever. A special thhanks to Elvira, the owner, representing Johanna her mother as she were on vacation. De hade en skyttelbuss som körde ner en till stan pp kvällarna och hämtade upp en vid midnatt. Giovanna som ägde hotellet var en krutgumma och väldigt trevlig. Hvis du har lejet bil er det et rigtig godt hotel at bo på. Der er fine parkeringsforhold. Desuden rolige omgivelser og masser af fuglekvidder og kun nogle få km fra Sorrento centrum. Der er dog lidt lydt på hotellet, da der ikke er tæpper på gangarealerne. Imødekommende og venligt hotelpersonale.
