I really like the Hilton Garden Hotel in Albany. It is one of the best that they have, however, during this Christmas holiday (we only stayed the 1 night), it wasn't as wonderful as usual. For some reason, they were remodeling and only 1 elevator was working. I'm not sure where the house keeping staff were, but their absences was noticeable. There were […] dishes and trash outside guestrooms from when the guests ordered room service. There was trash and unemptied trashcans in the hall, near the elevators. The restaurant was supposed to be open but with limited hours, however, when guests attempted to go there to get meals, they were told that it was closed. As it was Xmas eve everything in Albany closed around 4p - 7p and remained closed until 12/26/2012. What were guests to do for food? This time the service was poor, and that was surprising to me. We visited this hotel on 11/30/2012. The hotel was great. The only complaint I have is that they have the Christmas tree in the middle of the foyer and there is not much room to manuever around it when you are brining your luggage in. This hotel is right next to the Flint River and within a short walk of the Flint River Aquarium. Only negative was that there did not seem to be any quality restaurants for dinner. We had to go 6 miles to get dinner. Breakfast in the hotel was very good.

I stayed two nights on a business trip, the last night their fire alarm went off at 2:30 in the morning. It must have ran for about 3 min and then shut off, it came back on not too long after that. The alarm was deafening, I think I have suffered hearing loss from the alarm. The alarm was so loud I was disorientated and thought it was somehow the buzzer […] on the clock radio that went off. I was very grateful that there wasn't a fire, if there was I would not have left the building. After the second alarm went off I called the front desk and they confirmed that there was no fire. There was no apology, credit or any other offer of compensation given by the hotel. Read more

The hotel is pretty clean, very comfortable, and super close to most attractions downtown Albany. The hotel staff are extra nice. In short, it's beyond my expectation! Plus, I liked their breakfast omelet. Breakfast is not complimentary (about $10), but I have had less good breakfast for more than $20.

Our stay was without a doubt one of home comfort and convience. All of the employees from housekeeping, clerks at checkin, and the cook in the grille were courteous and displayed that southeren hospitality that I've come to love and expect. The room smelled like must, when we left and tried to leave the room to go down the stairs, there was about 12 teenagers congregating in the stair well on the second floor. The breakfast buffet was excellent, and the overall hotel was not bad. We just had a few bad experiences that would make me not stay there anymore.

The hotel was clean. Located right across from the Ray Charles Plaza. The Riverquarium is just a block away. Not many restaurants within walking distance. A lot of the surrounding business buildings are vacant. The police department is located in the same block as the hotel.

The night my wife and I attempted to enter our room, the key card programmed for the room did not work. I went to the front desk, waited for the clerk to finish the apparently important paperwork he was working on. He re-programmed the card after asking if I had held it close to my cell phone or any electronic devices, which I had not. Upon returning […] to the room, the key card still did not work. I again returned tot he front desk, whereby the clerk determined it was dead batteries in MY door lock and that Maintenance would be up in a little while to put in new batteries. As he did not offer an alternative, I asked if he had other comparable rooms, whereupon he searched and found another. When we finally got into the new room, we attempted to turn on the TV. The remote didn't work. We assumed the dead battery curse had followed us in, and as it was very late and we were very tired, we just let the issue pass, reporting it to the desk clerk on our departure. The view is fantastic on the River front, service is great and the breakfast is hot and service with a smile, good old fashion customer service. Great stay, I will continue to use the Garden when I am in Albany.
