"Good value for money."
it was nice hotel and staff was very helpful . Good shops and food joints nearby.Genuine Expedia guest review
"24 hour trip to Portland"
Shilo Inn was the perfect location to the venue of a concert we came to town to see. The front desk person was friendly, and helpful. We found our rooms to be nice, quiet, clean and affordable.Genuine Expedia guest review
The shower room was difficult to maneuver because the door blocked the shower and toilet. to open the door and get out you have to almost step over the toilet. The bed was surprisingly comfortable and it was nice to have a mini fridge in the room. The TV was very much out of 1990's and could use an upgrade to flat screen. Overall, I was rested and refreshed […] when I left. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect location, excellent staff"
SO close to the max line. Plenty of grub within walking distance. Carpet trashed, but otherwise everything was tasteful and clean. Sauna area was sketchy and washing machines need to be cleaned and swept around.Genuine Expedia guest review
Nothing special - 2 star hotel at a 3 star price. Front desk very pleasantGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Smelled old, but it is, so what do you expect. Staff very polite and efficient. Breakfast left much to be desired.Genuine Expedia guest review
Rooms need to be updated. Still have tube TV, no flat screen. Air conditioning way too loud and too cold and no way to adjust. High cost of hotel reflected location not quality.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"decent but smelly room, nice staff"
The lobby smelled like BO and the room was a musty, smoker smell. Other than that the room was nice enough, appeared clean. Was very warm but helped after we opened the window for a couple of hours. Great location near the convention center (I was in town for a conference). Surrounding neighborhood is a little shady. Check in staff was very friendly. […] Wish they had told us that the front door would be locked after hours but someone was there to tell us how to get in through the side door. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel staff were friendly and helpful from the minute i checked in until my checkout date. Room was clean and comfortable. Its a great area and close to the pearl district and downtown. I will be staying here again on my next visit to Portland.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Close to the convention center"
We needed a place near the convention center since we were catching the bus to Seattle for the Timbers vs. Sounders match. The employees at the front desk were very friendly. The room was big enough for us, was clean and we had no complaints.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This is a pretty central location that works for me while I am in town for work. The hotel is decent. Nothing special, but nothing horrible either. Pretty basic rooms, with comfy beds and pillows. My only complaint was the air quality. I tend to get puffy eyes/allergy symptoms in hotel rooms with the window AC units. I missed the breakfast, but the […] coffee in the room isn't too shabby for a little pod. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cheap. Friendly staff."
A/C smelled like someone urinated in it. Room was acceptable, otherwise.Genuine Expedia guest review
Nice comfortable room. Clean, no waste of products.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient location to transportation available"
We had a group of 8 that were going to the Hillsboro Hops Baseball game and had a great time. Road the rails to various areas and had some great meals. Hotel room was nice and beds were great. Bathroom little hard to get in to and close the door but it worked.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A good value near Convention Center"
The hotel is a bit shabby, but very clean, and service is good. Location is convenient to convention center and to light rail. Breakfast is not much, rooms were just fine.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to my daughter home and work."
Very satisfied will be staying there every time I plan to come to Portland. The rooms where clean the service was wonderful and close to a lot of places.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Shilo Inn Convention Center"
Excellent room at a great price and no charge for parking. Rooms very clean and comfortable, maybe little small but for overnight for a concert can't be beat. 10 minute walk to the Rose Garden. Cancelling room at Doubletree next month stay here again. Staff friendly and helpful, breakfast nothing to write home about but great coffee.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Room smelled of Meldew."
First thing we noticed when we walked in the room smelled very strongly of Meldew (wet towels). It seemed fairly clean though. The bed was ok. Bathroom was nice. One thing that really bothered me though was that the door did not like to close on it own, you had to make sure and pull the door closed when you left the room.Genuine Expedia guest review
"overall very good"
The staff was very nice. The room was actually fairly large but the bathroom was slightly small, but clean. The hotel was a little too far away from Downtown for walking so driving/biking is probably your best option. Overall great hotel with free parking at an affordable price! It is also right by a Starbucks and 7-Eleven if needed.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great basis downtown hotel"
Helpful staff - room was pretty small, but had all the basics and was clean. All that I needed for an overnight in Portland.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good value with all the basics"
There isn't much in the immediate area of this hotel but it is located very close to the MAX rail which is great, and only a few blocks from the river which you can cross to access all of the restaurants and venues of downtown Portland. Our particular experience was a bit less than idea, but nothing terrible. We had a group of six people with reservations […] for three rooms, two beds in each room. Unfortunately when we arrived we were told that our rooms were ruined by a wedding party from the night previous, so we got downgraded to rooms with just one bed and a pull-out sofa. No mention of any discount or any effort to make up for the inconvenience. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fine for the price"
For the price, it was fine. The room needed to be aired out to get rid of the smell and the floors both in the hall and in our room clearly needed to be vacuumed. The room wasn't filthy-- we stayed several nights. The breakfast was adequate; the people working there were polite; the noise level was low. If cleanliness is your number one requirement, […] this is not the place to stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The Shilo Inn Rose Garden is an ok hotel. The rooms are a little small and the bed was a little uncomfortable sometimes to sleep in. The neighborhood isn't the greatest either. Still, it is close to the light rail line and has a very friendly and curteous staff. Still, I would look to stay somewhere else before staying here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great for the price"
The hotel wasn't very far from the Convention center when my event was taking place. It wasn't the newest or nicest place I've ever stayed, but the room was clean and the staff was nice. Portland was a beautiful city, and I look forward to visiting again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Very quiet. Attentive staff."
I arrived a little before check in and was permitted to check in. The man at the desk was friendly and answered all of my questions. I heard no noise the entire evening even though I went to be early.Genuine Expedia guest review
Whenever I travel to Portland for any activity at the Convention Center, this is my choice. It is a short walking distance for half the price of the large hotels that are closer.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very please with the Hotel, will stay there again."
Very easy to get to. Places to eat near by, 7-11 right on the corner. Close to the public transportation, Farmers Market.Genuine Expedia guest review
All good except when room doors close shut they tend to slam which is very noisy.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Walk This Way..."
I was staying at this Shilo, because I was participating in the Grand Floral Parade Walk. My room was clean, quiet & comfortable. Two thumbs up to the room attendants.Genuine Expedia guest review
It was a good place to stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean and very friendly staff"
Shiloh Inn exceeded our expectations in every area except the breakfast. Otherwise, the location is great, the staff helpful, and the room clean and spacious. Highly recommend it. We had breakfast at the wonderful Good Earth Café downtown Portland, so it was all around a great experience.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Excellent place to stay and great value!"
The staff were so friendly and welcoming. The rooms are tastefully decorated, clean, and quite spacious. I would have liked more of a selection at breakfast, but it was adequate. I also wish the sauna wasn't tucked away in the basement - a little creepy to be down there alone! Otherwise, considering the room rates, this is a fantastic place to stay […] . "A comfortable Stay"
I only wish there were more options for breakfast with more hot foods, i.e. waffles....Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Room was clean, property was well kept. Personnel were excellentGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was comfortable and well appointed. The breakfast room was cozy, and suited to morning conversations over their complimentary breakfast. They staff was anxious to assist us with directions etc.Genuine Expedia guest review
My partner and I stayed at Shilo Inn for a quick 2 night getaway and it was great. The hotel staff was super friendly and welcoming, the room was large (although the bathroom was barely big enough for one of us), the location was perfect-we walked everywhere, the neighborhood was quiet and safe. There was a particular odor in the room that made it hard for me to relax. Plus the beds were smaller than advertised. If you can afford the extra expense, go somewhere else. This place is old and not maintained as well as it possibly can.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good value in convenient location"
Arrived early so could not check in, but desk clerk handed over package left for pickup (after checking ID!) and gave helpful suggestions and directions for lunch and touring to fill in the time. Desk staff were always pleasant and helpful. Room was serviceable and clean. Bathroom was tiny, as noted by others. Breakfast was adequate, if unimaginative. "Nice hotel for the money"
This is my 2nd stay here and was in a good area for the max and some nice fast foods and 7-eleven stores close by/walking distance.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Would stay again."
The hotel was drastically nicer than I expected for a Shilo Inn. I booked a room for one night and just wanted some place cheap but I really was PLEASANTLY surprised with the quality of the hotel. The only disappointing thing was their breakfast. It was pretty meager and lame but no biggie.Genuine Expedia guest review
The staff were nice, but the room smelled funny. There were also stains all over the floor, and the bathroom was small.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Excellent & quiet choice near convention center"
Shilo Inn is a great bargain, with clean rooms, good bed, good overall stay. No restaurant, and the continental breakfast is a little paltry, but an excellent restaurant one across the street and other places closeby for breakfast. Best -- it is QUIET ! and no road noise that comes with staying at the Marriott or Quality Inn, which are two blocks closer […] to MaxLine and convention center. But I'll take the quiet street and good night sleep anytime! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not terrible, but not appealing"
The hotel has the look of a building that was updated in the early 90s and was probably fairly nice at the time, but it is once again showing its age. Everything is a little bit dated and worn out, and the scale and proportions are just a little off, especially in the itty-bitty lobby that doubles as the main entrance to the entire facility. Despite […] having a non-smoking room, there was a distinct mustiness and odor in our room. Thin walls mean you'll hear your neighbors banging around at all hours, and the parking lot is inches from the window, so every engine and car door is audible. The continental breakfast was pretty much what you'd expect for this sort of place. The hotel is reasonably convenient to the interstate, arena, mass transit, and some shops, cafes and restaurants, but the neighborhood leaves a bit to be desired -- there were a number of transients loitering nearby throughout the day and not much other foot traffic. "Pretty nice room"
The room was very nice, but did have a slight odor that was a bit unpleasant. After running the A/C for a while, it seemed to subside. Aside from that, the room was very nice, though the bathroom was a little small. My biggest complaint is that check-in time was at 4:00pm. We arrived at 5:00pm and they stated they did not have a room available for us […] and we had to wait for 1 to be cleaned. We ended up having to wait until 5:30 to get our room which was pretty annoying. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good Bare Bones Lodging"
In town briefly for a busy weekend, all I needed was a comfortable place to sleep, a bare bones continental breakfast, and a reasonable rate, and that's what the Shilo Inn provided. No frills, but the basics were good and the location worked well for me. My only complaint was a very noisy bathroom fan, and that's a problem that seems to be common in […] most budget hotels. I'd stay there again under similar circumstances, though vacation travelers might want more amenities and a more upscale ambiance. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Dont expect more or less for what you pay."
First impression was not good. As per a earlier review. There was a moldy smell in the air. I opened the hallway window and smell in hall way went away. It's a two story hotel and does not have an elevator. Room was not very big but noticed another room that was being cleaned, and was much larger then mine. Asked if I could move to a larger room and […] they were more than willing to accommodate. Ice machine on first floor and continental breakfast stops at 9am. They do have a laundry room and a sauna that came in handy. Neighborhood was ok, probably don't want to take a walk at night. Probably would not stay there again, even if I had to pay a little mire.
