I stayed there while I was in town for a basketba game, and the bed was comfortable, the room was very clean. It was a really good stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Spacious rooms, great deal!"
My husband and I stayed one night - we had a late flight into Portland and we were looking for an inexpensive hotel to stay at before going to stay with friends. The staff was very friendly. Our room was spacious - a king room, had a couch, desk, closet and plenty of space. The bed was a little hard for my taste, but my husband said he was very comfortable. […] Overall I would definitely recommend the Shilo Inn to anyone looking for a basic inexpensive room!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We made our reservation on the road. It took an hour for them to receive our reservation through the internet. Room needed a few repairs. Breakfast was acceptable. Crown Plaza across the street allowed Shilo Inn guests to use their pool and hot tub. That was the best part of the stay. Overall though we got the sleep we needed.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"mini suite king does not include hideaway or couch"
really disappointed I understood mini suite king to have king bed and hideaway bed in couch. No couch in room and staff said mini suite implied only refrigerator and microwave not what pictures showed nor original booking. They did supply roll away at no charge but had nothing available with couch even though I had booked 2 months earlier. It was very […] convenient to Rose Quarter. "Only great thing..our friends"
Very outdated, hallway carpets were disgusting, very rude late night staff, no lounge chair in our room, although other rooms had them, phone book was 3 years old, no pool and limited parking, coffee maker made only single cups and only enough supplies for 2 cups.Genuine Expedia guest review
Great Location, good service but the hotel was dated and kind of dirty. The whole hotel had a musty smell to it. I do think its funny that they have a sign that's been up for several years stating "newly remodeled." That's obviously not the case. It was a cheap hotel within walking distance to the convention center. If I had to stay here again, I would […] but I'd definitely look elsewhere first. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
My stay at the hotel was ok me and friends come down once a year to watch a trail blazer game. Ok location , the beds are hard didn't sleep well that night but for the price you can't complain.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Early bird cereal party"
We were only here one night before heading downtown. It's a nice hotel, a few blocks from the train station. Staff was pleasant- they'd recently updated their system and had trouble finding our names but were nice and helpful in getting everything situated-super helpful especially since that could have gone bad, fast. What else...we were upgraded, got […] great recommendations for the area, food and things (trains!) nearby... Also, they provided breakfast and coffee and tea! And a squeaky, but comfy bed. Fun stay. "weekend getaway with the girls!"
Stayed at the hotel for two days to attend the scrapbook convention. Great location to the convention center. Had to walk about three maybe four blocks which was fine. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. My only complaint was the continental breakfast. Too many sugar items. Fruit selection was oranges only. Yogurt was in the fridge […] but I'm not a fan. Maybe the selection is better at 6am! I didn't get there until 8am. Not much left. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The check-in was not smooth at all. They were not connected well with Hotels.com and it took multiple phone calls to get the reservations and prepayment straightened out.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I have stayed before. The front desk people were personable and efficient. The hotel is reasonably priced and in a great location to set out from to explore Portland.Genuine Expedia guest review
"No hot water"
xThe clerk at the front desk was exceptionally helpful and pleasant. The room was large and well equipped, but not being able to take a shower made the stay unpleasant. The clerk indicated that the hot water had not been working the day before and he thought it had been fixed along withthe broken ice machine. "affordable sleep near max lines to enjoy the city"
Best, friendliest check-in I've had nearly anywhere. The hotel is good walking distance to the conference center. Good firm beds, quiet except for distant trains. The breakfast was okay, nothing to write home about, I generally skipped it after the first day. The hallways were oddly humid, no musty smell, but if you are super mold sensitive I'd skip […] it. Great value and friendly staff. About a 12 block walk to anywhere worth eating at. Plenty of fast food close by. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great price for a central Portland location"
Found this deal last minute on Expedia, I checked with the hotel first before booking thru Expedia and the price was $20 less via Expedia. The room via the hotel was $89, so it was quite reasonable. Nothing fancy, but it worked for me. I got in at 10:30 pm and was gone by 7:30 am the next day, so not a lot of time spent there.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Wouldn't stay again"
We weren't impressed at all. We had trouble getting the outlets to work, and had to push "reset" over and over. We never were able to get the hair dryer to work at all. The refrigerator froze everything solid. The breakfast is small and mainly bread, but there is only one toaster that everyone stands in a long line to use. When we told the clerk about […] the outlet issues, and that the blow dryer didn't work, we were very shocked by the response of the clerk. He sort of laughed and said that it "does work". He said that you have to hit "clear" and "reset" etc... and HE could get it to work. I told him that I tried that, and he still insisted we didn't do it right. He also implied that it was probably unplugged and we weren't smart enough to think of that. The truth of the matter is that they obviously have an electrical problem, because you shouldn't have to hit "reset" numerous times to get an outlet or dryer to work. It also sounds like it's a regular problem in all rooms, and that they have no intention of fixing it. Lots of other hotels in the area are nicer, and would treat you with a lot more respect! "First room GREAT, service poor, second room BAD."
First night was GREAT, room, front desk fine. Put "do not disturb" sign on door until 10am. Flipped over to "Maid Service" at 10am, maid never cleaned room. Called front office at 2pm about no maid, said they would get it done. At 4pm went to front office because still no maid service. Maids had now finished for the day. "Comfortable and convenient for Lloyd District"
Very comfortable beds and pillows, everything seemed quite clean, and breakfast was included. Great location - we walked to Red Robin for dinner, and the Lloyd Center was only 8 blocks or so away. "A decent value"
This is an older hotel. The carpeting in the room could stand repalcement. The available television channels was limited. My schedule didn't allow for breakfast there, so I have no review.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great if your going to the Rose Quarter"
The reason we picked this hotel was because of how close it was to the Rose Quarter. We went to a concert and didn't want to have to worry about parking and all that mess. It's only about a five minute walk to the Rose Quarter. Across the street is the Crown Plaza where we went for pre-show drinks (and dinner after the show). Now for the not so good […] part.. As soon as we got up to our room we were hit by a stench of stale cigarettes. Not happy. Soon after I discovered cigarette burns on the curtain AND the comforter. Gross. No pressure in the shower head (which if you have thick hair like I do, it sucks!). Overall the hotel didn't feel clean, and if we ever go up there again for a show we probably would just stay at the Crown Plaza!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Just a SoSo"
A little disappointed , room smelled sorta musty and was very small. Service was good , but break fast nothing much to speak of. It was good except for the breakfast, No Juice, or Hot Cocco, only cold items for breakfast. Not the best Shilo that I have stayed in.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Pretty Good Value"
Good location --within 4 blocks of Max station. Room was clean; bed very comfy; staff pleasant and helpful. The only downside really was that the room was very small--no chairs other than a desk chair and the bathroom was so small it was difficult to close the door without standing on the toilet. "Close to the Oregon Convention Center."
A decent hotel. Nice, big room at a good price. Room was clean, common hallways a bit rundown and dingy. Close to the Oregon Convention Center, within walking distance. But, not a lot of restaurants around.Genuine Expedia guest review
Room smelled musty. Kept the A/C unit operating with the bath exhaust fan and that helped. Continental breakfast was "meh", at best.Genuine Expedia guest review

The staff were very helpful with printing off google maps etc. They were also friendly. The hotel seemed old but effort was being made to keep it clean. The complimentary breakfast was adequate.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Can do much better than this hotel"
I would not stay here again. Very noisy and breakfast was inadequate. That sums it up. You can do much better in Portland for this amount of money.Genuine Expedia guest review
Good room for an inexpensive price. Enjoyed my stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
The condition of the hotel, overall, was better than our room. The carpet in our room was dirty and stained and needed to be shampooed. The furniture looked dirty and was torn in places.Left me feeling kinda icky. The room smelled musty and stale when we walked in the door, keeping the window open all day the next day helped with that. The location […] was good and the price was good but they missed their advertised mark of "Affordable Excellence." Our room was affordable but definitely not excellent. "Great Budget Hotel"
Its a simple budget hotel but really very clean. Staffs are really very good and cooperating in nature............... Max rail (convention center) is also within a convenient distance ..... "Simple and nice"
I had reserved a room with king size bed and they gave me a room with a queen. Other than that it was fine, no issues.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Our room was damp. The towels were damp, the rug was damp, it was a very damp experience. As a result the room had a funny smell. There were lots of carpet stains and the furniture was ripped. The continental breakfast was pretty lame too.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The rooms were adequate for the purpose. The continental breakfast is limited to cereal, bagels and muffins, with yogurt and fruit. The front desk employees were very helpful when I had a request. The downside: very thin walls and noisy mattress springs. ne night I had some very althletic upstairs neighbors!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"just what I needed"
Clean,& affordable . Great location. Located 4 blocks from the convention center Max line, meant a short trip downtown (and access to 3 max lines), and an equally short trip back to the airport when my weekend was over. There is a 7-11 around the corner, and a walgreens, so iIcoud pick up some forgotten toiletries. I would stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The location was convenient, the room was comfortable and clean, the staff was helpful. The wi-fi was reliable, which was important to us. Free continental breakfast. Some appliances in the room have seen better days (TV, hair-dryer), but they work OK.Genuine Expedia guest review
Carpets were dirty, and room smelled bad!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Stayed here a time ago and it was ok. It is now in need of updating. Carpet stained in several places, potato chip on floor, grass blade in tub, ripped towels, dried toothpaste on ice bucket bag, air conditioning smelling of mildew... Upside is the location was handy, quiet and I didnt spend much time in the room. I havent stayed at a Shilo inn chain […] for a while but I recall them being a little better than this.
