The staff was great and very attentive to a couple of issues that we had. The draw back was that our room seemed worn out, not nearly as nice as last time, that was 3 yrs ago. The pool was freezing cold because they opened up the connection to the outside pool. This is one reason we picked this hotel was for the pool and quality from a previous visit. […] Not a bad place, but need to check on things before going. We had a super-fast check in and the room was very clean- we especially appreciated the fact that there are trash and recycling bins in each room. We did have an issue where a piece of trim by the television was loose and pulled off but we called down to the front desk and the sent someone to fix it immediately. There were many restaurants nearby so […] we had a good selection for meals and a grocery store nearby as well which came in handy for stocking the mini-fridge in our room with snacks for the kids. A family member did have an issue where they called the hotel overnight and the desk-person was not helpful to them but this was their experience, not mine as everyone was very polite, this includes the maintenance and cleaning staff. Location was convenient, about 10 minutes from downtown. However, despite the hotel looking nice, the rooms were uncomfortable. The beds were very, very hard. The pull out couch was not comfortable to sit on. Staff, however, was very friendly. Bed and couches just felt broken down.

Due to the pool being indoor/outdoor, the water the pool was pretty cold. The hotel had tried to block things off and make the indoor area warmer, but it was still pretty chilly. The heat could have been turned up to keep the small children swimming a little warmer.

The appearance, space and staff were fine. But two issues were disappointing. One was to smell cigarette smoke in the hall in a non-smoking wing. When we commented, the staff person at the desk said that some guests (especially frequent stay-ers) suggest that the fine for smoking be tacked on to their bill. If the hotel is to tolerate any smoking, it […] should be in a special wing. Our party had several with allergies, so we did not appreciate this. The second issue dealt with daily cleaning. We returned one evening to find our toilet uncleaned around the edges (with feces and urine). We'd also found a used band-aid on the floor - not something that we had used. The bed was very comfortable which was good since we were in town for out-patient surgery. Unfortunately, the rest of the room was not. The couches were for show not comfort. The desk chair pleather was worn and crumbling off. The staff was nice and the warm cookie was quite welcomed after long day in the hospital.

The computer desk area left a bit to be desired. The office chair didn't seem to have any way to lock it to keep it from leaning back when my body did, nor did it seem to have a height adjustment lever. I had read reviews of this hotel and some were not favorable; however, it was noted that the Double Tree was in the process of updating/refurbishing. I had hoped this was completed by the time we arrived. There were many negative issues to this hotel. We noticed the carpet was dirty/stained in many areas, including our room. The sleeper sofa was worn […] and the material on the cushions torn. The cold water faucet did not turn off properly. The shower lever did not work properly and I was the only one with the strength to lift it. Wi-fi was only available in the lobby area; it was an additional cost in the room. There was nowhere to eat carry-in food. We were told we could not eat in the restaurant area where there were tables. We can understand this rule; however, there were large groups of teenagers staying on Saturday night and they were able to eat carry-in food in this area. The pool needed cleaning. There was no designated office/business area or computer for guests to use. We reserved two rooms. In the other room we had to get the card keyed three times to be able to use it. Also, one of the remote controls for the TV did not work. In this room, the carpet and sofa also had stains and were worn. The houskeeping staff was pleasant. Read more

Too much humidity in the rooms carpet was damp couldnt walk in room without shoes. Indoor Pool was out of order for 2 of our 3 day stay. Hot tub water not hot at all, luke warm. Very disappointing. Stayed here for 3 nights while attending motogp at the speedway. During checkin on Thurs, we were notified that the pools were closed for maintenance. They were to be closed all weekend. The outdoor pool was open on Sat night. Many of the other reviews seem to be a bit harsh on the property. Attention to detail is occasionally lacking. The vacuum wasn't […] used in our room on Fri. We were short towels for Sat night. The common areas of the hotel were always clean. There is a charge for internet...although there is a free area in the lobby. The lobby work area and bar were both comfortable. The staff was always pleasant and helpful. Make certain to get directions before trying to find the hotel. The building address doesn't have a driveway, you will need to enter off of the road behind the hotel (Pennsylvania???) There were many restaurants and stores a short drive north of the hotel. We did a lot of family travel this summer and the DoubleTree Suites in Carmel was far and away the best hotel we stayed in all summer. It will be my go to Hotel in Indianapolis and I will always check rates at the Double Tree elsewhere when I book my next trip.

Room smelled musty.Shower rod ready to fall down. Tiolet seat very loose. NO free wi-fi available. $9.95 a day free at most hotels anymore. Breakfast $12.95. Most hotels have something included for free ( especialy at price of rooms at this hotel.)

We've stayed at this hotel three times in the past and have found it to be a pleasant place to stay. But the housekeeping department just could not get it right on this trip. They left the previous tenant's old coffee filters in the machine, made the beds but left the pillows sitting on floor, and came knocking at 9:30 in the morning when we were trying […] to sleep in (check-out is noon). But the worst part is that it appears they stole our son's favorite swimsuit. We left it hanging on the shower rod and called the hotel once we realized what we had done. This hotel was one of the worst hotels we have ever stayed in. The furniture was all broken, dirty (I wouldn't even sit on it).
