"Great location and very comfy"
Great hotel and great location. In walking distance to everything, but off the busy streets, so there's not much noise. Everyone spoke English and was very nice. Only thing was the drain apparently backed up while we were out one afternoon, and the room smelled like poo. But the gentleman at the front desk came up, ran everything and sprayed some stuff […] around the room. It eventually went away. But besides that it was great! "Overall a fair place to stay!"
This Hotel is rated and priced 4 stars but lacks the amenities that you would expect from that rating. For example there is no restaurant or cafeteria or even a bar at the premises. The Hotel is a remodeled building likely to be over 100 years old. However part of the charm is lost by cheap finishes, cheap furniture and dark rooms and hallways. On the […] positive side the Hotel's has a great location within short walking distance of the Royal Theater, the Royal Palace, Puerta del Sol, la Gran Via and Plaza Mayor and some of the best restaurants and tapas bars the City offers. The rooms are clean, the baths are modern and the staff is friendly and helpful. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"it was just ok"
It was a friendly staff and great location, however my tv remote had tape on it and didn't work. The room key has to be in wall to work. And toilet didn't flush first times always twice smh but great location and staffGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not a 4 stars hotel"
Great location and nice staff, but thats probably the only good things to say about the hotel. The room is extremely simple and small. We didn't even had enough place to put our suitcase. If they would have present the hotel as a three stars, I would probably say it is an OK/average 3 stars hotel, but rating it as a 4 star?!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Our stay at Meninas"
We thought that the room was very dark and very small! However, the location was excellent, just a few steps from a great plaza.. so it's a balance..Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel was small but lovely and in a great location. Staff was very friendly and our room was also very clean and comfortable. .Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location but horrible front desk staff"
Room was decent. Fantastic location!! Staff was extremely disappointing, slow, and could barely speak English. Paid extra for breakfast to be included. Totally not worth the money paid. Would not recommend family to ever stay here.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Well appointed; great location. Walked everywhere with no trouble.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel is within 1/2 block to the opera house, also easy walking. to the royal palace and other sites. Room was clean, with a nice size bathroom. We would stay here againGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beautiful little pearl of a hotel"
Beautiful little hotel right in the middle of Madrid. Great location and easy accessible with the Metro. Excellent service at check in, with good info and advise on what to see, and with markings on a city map. Very clean and smart all over in both rooms and other areas. Has a very cosy feeling to it. Modern, but still traditionel and "old fashioned" […] in the good way. Fantastic stairs... I stayed in a single room. The room is tiny but beautiful. Very nice and old fashioned furniture. The view is nothing to talk about since it is overlooking the tiny backyard, but cute drawings on the walls made me smile every time I looked out the window. The walls in the room I stayed in definitely needs some paint. Someone seems to have been drawing on the walls, and it apperently will not come off. Fixing it would be easy, so it startled me they had not. The bathroom is both big and beautiful. The amenities could be of better standard. Great functioning and free Wifi. On the bad side, the minibar was not working. Not cooling at all. The tv only had one channel, not 14 as the in-room info booklet said. The breakfastroom was incredible. Very charming and located on the basement floor. Everything was so nice and neat. Love the way everything is stacked up nicely. Would have been nice with some scrambled eggs though. Otherwise Excellent. Would definitely stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel close to Metro, bus restaurants, store."
The hotel is walking distance to Metro and bus and also to places of interest like the Palacio Real , the gardens and the Plazas where people hang out till late at night . The only con is sometimes it gets so noisy at night because people gets drunk and make loud noises walking on the streetGenuine Expedia guest review
The bad stay was both the fault of hotels.com and the hotel. They tried to convince me that the small room with a twin bed was a small double room. I insisted on a move even though they were full and called hotels.com until I got a result I liked more.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice location, disappointing room."
The location really is great; the street has a very charming pedestrian feel to it and the Opera subway stop is less than 5 minutes away. You are very centrally located here and can easily walk to almost all the major sites in Madrid if so inclined. The reception was very polite and efficient, however the only downer was that the rooms were disappointing. […] They appeared nothing like the website The rooms looking out on to the on the interior light well are really small and quite claustrophobic, the window shade insufficient to block out the light from the other rooms and corridors adjacent to the same light well. The walls really are rediculously thin - be aware that you will definitely hear the comings and goings of the other hotel guests. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Comfortable, convenient, and accessible to English"
Reserved two rooms but found suite large enough for couple and one teenager on sleeper sofa. Second room was small and windowless and we were not able to cancel unfortunately. Paid for two rooms but stayed in one. C'est la vie.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Spent a couple of nights here and the staff were all very helpful and friendly. This place was a very cute little hotel very centrally located.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

I didn't know that when I arrived. Our room was spacious. Staff was helpful. We walked everywhere. Good breakfast.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Madrid's Magnificent Meninas"
We found the location excellent and service very good in general. It was a block from the Palacio Real and Sabatini Gardens. Quick transport via metro. However, the wifi service was inconsistent and the TV channels were coded at times.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fantastic, gorgeous hotel"
We absolutely loved our stay here. The location is great -- right off of Opera subway stop and only 5 minute walk to Sol. The hotel is very gorgeous, with fantastic interior decoration and cute balconies, and amazing service.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel is in an excellent location, near the royal palace and opera, and close to shopping and good restaurants, as well as the metro and a taxi stand.Genuine Expedia guest review
"great location and that's it !"
the main advantage of the hotel is the location as it's right in the center of the city , rooms were very clean but very small and uncomfortable , the staff was so friendly and helpful ,.Genuine Expedia guest review
Great hotel. The rooms, though, are quite small. But otherwise it´s a great, affordable, friendly, and conveniently located hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location in Madrid"
The hotel is in great location, walking distance to tourist attractions. The bedroon that we had was small. However, for my husband and I was perfect since we did not have a lot of lugagge and we were out almost all day. Great service, friendly staff.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Terrific place to stay"
Hotel staff was exceptionally helpful. Location was the bestGenuine Expedia guest review
"VERY GOOD HOTEL W/ excellent front desk help"
We really liked this hotel because of it's helpful staff, location and room amenities. My only fault was that we were told that a street facing room would be quiet. IT WAS NOT QUIET AT ALL! I travel alot, and experience tells me do not accept a room that faces the street. This time I took the advice of the desk and was very disappointed. The room was […] noisy. Aside from that I would definitely stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Location but the room is super small"
This is a historical hotel (really, they even have a plaque proudly display!). Therefore, the room is a size of a closet! It was so small that we could barely fit our luggage in the room. However, the bathroom was ok. The location is great.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Decent hotel in a good location near sights and in a nice neighborhood, but this is not a four- star hotel. It's more like a three-star hotel. The halls smelled musty, dining area was not great, many of the rooms face a concrete air shaft and one staffer made a reservation for us at a restaurant that was closed when we showed up.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"I'd stay again!"
My room was quite small, but the friendly and helpful staff and the convenient location of the hotel made up for that shortcoming. I'd certainly book there again, with no hesitation.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"One night layover"
Great central hotel. The room was a bit small and we couldnt get a double bed but the staff and the cleanliness of the room and hotel made up for this. The dvd rental was also a nice idea.Genuine Expedia guest review
This place was awesome! It was just a couple of blocks from the craziness of the center and quiet. I did not have any issues with smoke but the last time I think they stayed at the hotel it was just before the law where smoking indoors was illegal. It was comfy, small and cozy. I would stay here again for sure when I go back to Madrid.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"location, comfort & service great but not 4 star"
Excellent location, comfortable, very helpful desk clerks. There just weren't some of the little extras you expect when it's listed as 4 stars. But still felt like we got good value for what we paid and we'd definitely stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel, very central"
A very friendly, reasonably priced hotel - would definitely consider staying here again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location near to the Opera House"
Comfortable and friendly hotel. Easy to get around Madrid as close to shops and Metro and all places of interest. The only negative was we had a room overlooking the street and it was very noisy especially when the bin men came at 3am! I would add that we did have our window open to get some air so next time I'd leave them shut.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location - close to action downtown/Metro"
The staff were really good, helped with directions, etc. We had free internet but not breakfast -- the basement was where they had the buffet breakfast but it was dark in basement (no windows) and we thought that cost of breakfast was too much. The room was small but updated as the hotel is old. We found it was very noisy since we were in the heart […] of the city and did not want to spend much time in the room since it was good for sleeping but that's it. "Average hotel by the central shopping areas."
Generally an ok place to stay. The first room I was given the TV wasnt working. Then I was moved up to a room where the certain features were not the same as the previous room (shower rack missing, one of the plug points not working). The gym/sauna facilities and restaurant are located in another building around the corner. The swipe cards weren't working […] properly in the lift which meant you spent a while trying or resulted in taking the lift. The buffet breakfast had a great range of food and the staff member there was very good. The receptionists were very helpful with information when asked. If I went Madrid again I would most likley stay at Hotel Opera itself as opposed to the sister hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"What a great location."
So glad we chose this hotel. In a lovely street just off the square where we arrived by metro. Our room was comfortable, the air conditioning was quiet enough to leave on through the night. Reception staff were helpful. We would certainly recommend this hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"centrally located, close to metro n restaurants"
Concierge very helpful, provided services with enthusiasm.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"excellent hotel, close to the centre"
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Meninas. The hotel was ideally placed, close to a Metro station, within easy walk of famous places, but in a quiet street so that we weren't disturbed at night by late revellers! The staff were very friendly and helpful.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice little hotel in a great location!"
Stayed here for a long weekend, staff friendly, clean and modern facilities, only complaint bedrooms very small! Not a problem however, as location was ideal for exploring Madrid! Nearest metro station Opera.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel located in the city centre"
The hotel is great if you're looking for a city break in Madrid. Close to all the local visits, town center, shops and amenities. I would really recommend this hotel, the staff are all very welcoming and friendly, and willing to help.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel enjoys a great location in a quiet street but very very close to shops, restaurants, plaza mayor and the Gran Via. The hotel itself was very clean and the staff were extremely fiendly. The only possible complaint would be the size of the rooms, which are on the smallish size, but I guess you get what you pay for. I would definitely recommend […] this hotel and would almost certainly re visit. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"excellent location-helpful staff"
the hotel is located close to the Metro station and within walking distance to many must see areas such as the Gran Via, Del Sol plaza, the Palacio, etc.. the wooden floor in the hallway and bedrooms are clean but noisy. the room is very small but I did not mind it as I was only there to sleep. they could have provided a larger TV although they had […] cable and English channels. "Worst stay in Spain"
From the other reviews we were excited to stay in this hotel. The location is great and we booked a Jr. Suite. First don't expect Internet, no wifi in the room and if you can connect in the lobby you are lucky. The room was nice exept the shower didn't drain so by the end of a shower you were standing in four inches of water. When the staff was told […] they didn't seem to care. Half of the lights in the room were burnt out, again the staff did not seem to care so once it got dark you were out of luck. The hotel had potential but I would never go back, staff would smile and be friendly and totally ignore you. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel for visiting Madrid's highlights!"
The Meninas hotel is in an excellent location for visiting the main sights and Plazas of Madrid. We were able to walk everywhere and found it easy to navigate to and from the hotel, especially as the hotel gave us a super map and took the time to help us get our bearings and highlighted places of interest. The staff were welcoming, helpful and polite […] and offered good local tips and hints for our short visit. The room was a little small if you were staying for longer and had more luggage than we did, but it was advertised as a small double, and for us it was just fine! Very clean, nice design on the inside and nice architecture on the street. We felt the area was safe and very much enjoyed our stay! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Just what you'd expect"
Nice city centre hotel; rooms a little on the small side as one would expect I suppose, but beautifully equipped and very tidy and clean with a very comfy bed. Only tiny gripe was the roller blind, which wasn't totally opaque, meaning that you could see the lights and windows in the building opposite when you turned your own lights off.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Stayed 4 nights, given smallest room ever, paid for upgrade to biggest room they had. Room size much better but not a 4 star hotel. Offered free Wifi but did not work entire stay. Fabulous location though.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel is in a great location for sight seeing. The rooms are lovely, if a bit small, very clean, breakfast was nice. Staff friendly & arranged a shuttle to airport at a great rate. The location here is the star.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good value for money"
Hotel Meninas is pleasantly located in a small cobbled street off a busy plaza. We found it to be quiet, but excellently located for walking around central Madrid. The Opera metro station is nearby, providing a convenient link to other parts of the city. The hotel itself is small, with contemporary decoration. The reception staff were very helpful. […] The room was a little small, but we didn´t really find this a problem for a stay of only 2 nights. One thing to bear in mind for visitors arriving by car, is that it is necessary to use a nearby car park which is quite expensive (although there is a small discount for hotel residents). Overall, we were satisfied with this hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
