The D2 is a nice hotel - the staff are very friendly and accommodating, they speak English well, they are happy to help with anything. However, and especially when one considers the outrageous price of the place (granted, I was there for NYE) - it just seems a little run down, and […] like there was not adequate attention to detail. Examples: visible caulking around interior design features; overpainted corners; dirty carpeting in the lobby. Again, if you don't look closely, everything looks really nice. If you do, you can find a lot to criticize. Still, as I said, the staff was lovely. At 1/3 to 1/2 the price I paid, I'd have no complaints at all. Bot for the price (what I could pay for a nice hotel in NYC or San Francisco), in Thailand I think it's reasonable to expect luxury and perfection in every detail. We are two young americans traveling through Thailand, and this was by far the best hotel we stayed at. It is right next to the night market, and convenient to most other spots. Rooms were spacious plenty of seating if you are traveling with a group, modern, and clean. Staff was very polite and helpful. Wish all of our hotels were like this!

Hotel designed by someone who never slept there. Bathrooms are terrible design..space in front of sink overlaps space of toilet. No towel racks or hooks. Beds are so hard, we suffered backaches. Bedroom had no place to unpack or put suitcases except on sofa. Lousy pillows until we found you could order another one. Maids seldom swept carpet, forgot […] towels. First of all I got the hotel for an excellent price from Hotels.com booking the day before and getting a last minute rate and it was in the low season. We had the club suite rooms which meant free soft drinks/espresso's in the Club lounge and free cocktail hour each night. Room and bed very comfortable. A good desk for working. During the day you can walk to warorot market for mixed shopping and street food. Go a little further and you can check out Muang Mai market. This other market is mainly for locals to buy produce and meat, so its mainly just for sightseeing and not for tourist shopping. Stayed over New Year '12 and had a nice suite with excellent amenities, good service, good food and clean and comfortable surroundings. Although the New Year dinner was quite expensive and did not include drinks, the stay was pleasant and we will return next time in town.

The DusitD2 is located right on the night bazzar main street in Chiang Mai, depending on what your are looking for this could be a blessing or a nightmare. The hotel it self is rather old and not the best property available for the typical room rate, but again it is located in the middle of all the action. Deluxe rooms are average size, the bathrooms […] are small with only the basics ( no separate shower/tub), the TVs are extremely small, maybe 19" (the smallest I have seen in a hotel that claims to be a 4+ star hotel. My overall impresion, the hotel property is 3 stars, the service is excellent. On my next visit I would probably look to a diffrent hotel in the same area. Read more

Stayed at the D2 for four nights. Got upgraded to a Studio Apartment (Overlooking old city) on the 8th floor which was a bonus. The hotel is in a great location right on the Night Market and a 10 - 15 minute walk the the old city. The staff were very courteous and most helpful. We got the best tips on where to eat from the House Maid. We even had a […] couple of massages at the Day Spa which was great although a lot more expensive than outside the hotel which you would expect. Must do things while in Chiang Mai: The Flight of the Gibbons, Night Markets, traditional Lanna food at a restaurant down by the river, take a cruise along the Mae Ping River. Read more

NIce location and clean, attractive decor. Breakfast buffet comprehensive although snacks in Club Floor lounge a bit limited. But they thing that makes this hotel so nice to stay in is the staff - efficient, incredibly friendly, professional, approachable. My 2 year old daughter didn't want to leave as everyone was so nice to her.
