"nice inn could use more amenities"
I know it's the Madonna Inn. Room was beautiful. I'm used to a fridge, microwave, bath tub, coffee etc. and the room was all show. Bed was comfy just would have liked a few extras for the money. The restaurant was very expensive but don't let that deter you. My lamb was amazing. Worth paying for. Make sure to hike over to the lake.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Abel at the steakhouse is an excellent waiter - very attentive. The hotel and the restaurant offer quirky decor which is a genuine treat. This place is fun!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"destination hotel over-the-top just for fun"
Rooms are themed and have fun being over the top. We stayed in the Indian Room. It may be worth it to go directly to the hotel for reservations as you will be able to work with someone directly who can help you select the best room theme for your group and occation.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel for the special couples getaway"
My wife and I had a great experience and romantic getaway (anniversary trip). The hotel is great, very over the top as one would say, but it all matches and makes sense. It's a very special experience (in a good way). We would/will definitely go back and check out other themed rooms. The staff was very friendly and forthcoming. I have special dietary […] needs (food allergies) and they understood them right away and made sure everything was as needed. My wife loved the spa experience and the pool area is very nice as well. It is definitely a couples hotel and for those special occasions. Its location is great too, I went biking one morning and it is right next to a bike path. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
I've wanted to visit for 30 years. Was terribly disappointed that the Inn is "tired." It needs some serious renovations. How a 50s room could not include posters of Elvis, others and be more than just pink and aqua. The food in the main dining room was terrible and no effort was made to offer something other than the chewy, dry pork steak other than […] to give us free cake for dessert. Taking one of the two disappointing meals off the bill would have been appropriate. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice Get Away"
We stayed in the California Poppy room since orange is my favorite color it worked for me but was a little feminine for my husband. We went in January so we took advantage of their three course meal for $30.00 it was perfect for our Anniversary. I wish we would of brought our swimsuits because the hot tub was empty and we could of had it to ourselves. […] All in all it was a perfect stay for us. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A great experience"
I'd always wondered about this place, and my husband suggested staying there for our anniversary. Check in was pleasant and the woman helpfully booked us reservations at the steak house for dinner. Within 5 minutes of arriving at our room, an attendant stopped by to give us a bottle of champagne to help us celebrate. Dinner was a great time--excellent […] food and good service, with a backdrop of a live band and nice sized dance floor. Breakfast in the Copper Cafe was also yummy. We will definitely stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Room furniture and bedspreads and window coverings very old and worn out looking. $15.00 predates extra fee a surprise. Makes for expensive water!! For the price of the room, very disappointed a d would not stay there again not would not recommend!!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Everything was nice except for the cold floors. It would have been nicer if there were rugs on the tile by the bed. We put towels on the floor in the bathroom. Even carpeting would have been very nice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
the room was not ready until 35 minutes after check-in and they told us it was ready. We had to wait outside of our room . The place was quite empty, but they did not offer another room, and there must have been lots available. The refrigerator had a mal function and it froze our meds and food. "Quirky but cool"
The españa room was nice, dark wood ceiling, exposed brick walls, 2 bedrooms, sweet bathroom with a heated toilet seat. The bed and pillows were very stiff and uncomfortable. My only major complaint was the noise... The people above us had 3 kids, which were all drinking go go juice and jumping on and off the bed, then once they went to sleep, the adults […] were drinking and yelling all night. Other than that, it was unique. The bad and dance floor were happening, it was interesting watching these people swoop in and dance with randoms. Definitely over priced but its the Madonna in. we enjoyed our stay at Madonna Inn. The room was clean and service was good. It's hokey but fun and clean. Think disneyland. The location is very near Cal Poly as we stayed here while getting our son settled in school. The pool and area was clean and inviting with a great view.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"What a great place to stay"
We enjoyed the themeing and the history of the Inn.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I would like to say the room was very nice but the pillows are very hard. You could not get comptaful. I also think they need to send personnel at times to check if people that were makeing noise on their balcony late at night. "Fun Place to Stay!"
We stopped here on a 4th grade field trip to SAcramento and my fourth grader was all about coming up here to stay during the summer. We thought it would be fun, so we booked a room. We had asked for a room with two beds and were sent to one with only one, but the hotel staff was very accommodating in changing us quickly to a two bed room. We stayed […] in the Victorian Room, and even though it was a bit worn, the accommodations were clean and comfortable. We ate in the coffee shop and you can order off of the dining room menu in the coffee shop, but not vice versa. My husband had a great steak and I had the veggie plate, which was very tasty. Dinner was served with some crudites that were very filling and delicious fresh-baked bread. Great service and great food and we ate here for breakfast, too! (Try the breakfast sundae! yummy!) The pool and spa were very refreshing and there is a huge waterfall that roars for about 15 minutes on the hour. Overall, the hotel is a bit cheesy, but filled with history of the area. We are looking forward to booking a larger room when we come for graduations from Cal Poly in a couple of years! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A once "classic," hotel has seriously deteriorated"
When we arrived we were informed there was an additional charge of $15 per day for room amenities whether we used them or not, and for parking! This was not disclosed when we booked the room or in any literature we received. Certain facilities didn't work in the room so we changed rooms for the second night. Service in this regard was only fair, not […] great. I stayed here a number of years ago and had a positive experience. This experience was not good. I travel to the area frequently, but I will not stay at this hotel again! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The food was both overpriced and inferior. There was an inexplicable resort fee added to our prepaid bill. The shower wasn't great, internet connection slow and ethernet cable broken. Service staff was hopelessly undertrained and emptily cheery. Way overpriced.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Right off the highway"
The hotel room was fine and cute. The only amenity we used was the pool and it was a great pool! It seemed like a lot of money for the experience, though.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Cool unique get away"
Interesting history and one of a kind roomsGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We went for the novelty of being in a themed room, but frankly this place is a rip-off! The walls are so thin, I could hear every noise in the adjoining rooms. For the price I paid, I would expect a complimentary breakfast, but NO. Adding a $15 + tax resort fee for using the pool and parking was unbelievable, since they claim to have free parking. "Nice place, but the staff...."
The Hotel is worth a visit, but the staff needs to change their attitude. They are polite but not friendly. They seem to think they are better than their customers or maybe that the Hotel is so unique that they do not have to make an effort in being nice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Luxury Spa a Treat"
This spa resort was a luxurious treat. I had a facial and massage and the receptionist at the spa worked with me to make a last minute switch in my appointment-- something she very graciously did without having to. The surroundings of the hotel are absoutely breathtaking-- perfect for walkers, hikers, or runners. If you love luxury and the beauty of […] nature, this hotel is perfect. "Great hotel overall. Great for families."
The Madonna Inn is an excellent hotel. It is a bit pricey to stay there, but if you want a unique experience and don't mind spending extra, then this is hotel for you. Every room has a specific them. The restaurant is very good. My husband and I had steak dinners. Again, it's a bit pricey, but the food was good and plentiful. There is a bar near the […] pool, which was enjoyable to have a drink and watch the families swimming. Overall, it was a very nice experience and I would highly recommend it. I would definitelys stay there again. One word of caution, however. If you have a disability or have difficulty with mobility, make sure you let them know so that they can reserve a ground level room for you. There are no elevators. Our room was on the second level so we had to go up two flights of spiral stairs to get to our room. There was also a way to drive around to the back of the building and walk across a bridge and then go down one flight of stairs, which was easier for me, but having a ground floor room would have been best. "OK hotel, but avoid the staff!"
Hotel is kooky fun, but the staff is rigid and unhelpful. I asked (on Sunday) for a late check-out because I needed to go to an afternoon wedding and wanted to shower beforehand. They couldn't do it, even though Monday wasn't full and there was no pressing need to get my room in order. They finally gave in and extended my stay for 30 minutes. They also […] offered me the option of taking a shower at the pool, which would have been fine except that the shower is outdoors and is used by swimmers to rinse off chlorinated water. No soap, shampoo, etc. was available. Not a big deal, but annoying. Also, be aware that your room rate is increased by a daily $15 "resort fee" that you don't learn about until you sign in. "Madonna Inn is GREAT - Hotels.com not so"
The hotel is great and so is the service. The grounds are fantastic and the pool/spa stays open until 11:00pm! Close to Avila Beach and downtown SLO. Unfortunately Hotel's.com steered us wrong. We were given a night in a specific room by a friend and wanted to extend our stay in the same room. When we made the reservations we were told we would be staying […] in the same room all three nights. Low and be hold when we got there we were told that we had a different room for the first two nights and the third night in the room our friend booked for us. The people at the Madonna Inn told us that Hotels.com can not even book that room (because it is one of their most expensive) although they told us that we were booked into that room! "Great experience! A must see!"
This hotel is just what we were hoping it would be. Super funky, unique, one of a kind hotel and rooms. Opening the door to our room was almost like opening a present on Christmas morning. The room was really big with a nice deck that overlooked their horse pasture. We loved the pink robes and the heated toilet seat. Go to the pool at night for a dip […] in one of the two hot tubs. We even saw fireworks in the distance. Great stay, can't wait to come back for a trip to their spa. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Quaint hotel, but the walls are too thin. I could hear the snoring next door and their conversations as if they were in our room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My husband and I had such a great experience at the Madonna. We are young (in our 20s) and usually stay in town when we go places but there was so much to do and the hotel was so crazy. The service was untouchable; better than most 5 star hotels we stay at. I would recommend the breakfast and steak house as well!!Genuine Expedia guest review
"A Fun Place to Stay"
My daughters and I enjoyed our stay at The Madonna Inn. It was fanciful and fun - furnishings and decore put all of us in a fun mood, as so much of what the resort/hotel is is "tongue in cheek". We stayed in the Espana Room with heavy, dark furniture, paintings of matadors, red tile floors, and heavy textured walls with over-the-top cottage cheese with […] very pink bricks painted into the walls - vey funny. "Not much sleep"
The heater in the suite woke me up with a loud noise and my neighbors partied half the night. The theme of my "suite" used unshyaved cowhides. "Pleasant, fun inn BUT no in-room Internet!!"
Very nice hotel in almost every respect. Interesting history, unique rooms, comfortable rooms, fun and funky atmosphere. HOWEVER, neither the wireless nor the wired Internet worked in our room and the individual who was sent to try to get it to work did not acknowledge that the room had no connection. He just said he didn't know why it wouldn't work […] and blamed it on my computer. My husband's computer couldn't connect from our room either. This was very disappointing and created a significant inconvenience. It was important that I be able to work a couple of hours late each evening during our stay and I would not have chosen this hotel had I known that the advertisement of in-room Internet was false. I had to give up a day of outings with my family and sit in the main lodge to work one day to make up for the time I was unable to work each evening. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone who needs good, consistent in-room Internet connectivity. If in-room Internet connectivity isn't important, we'd recommend the hotel to others. "Madonna Inn, noisy but quaintly kitch"
The Madonna Inn and it's over the top decor has always been a place our family loves to stop for lunch. But this was the first time we actually stayed there. I have always wanted to stay at the Madonna Inn. Check. We stayed in the Margerite room. You know all the nick knacks you see in a thrift store and wonder who buys the stuff? Well you can find it all here! About the room. The bed was the most UNCOMFORTABLE bed I've ever slept in. And trust me my bed growing up was uncomfortable. The bed at the Madonna […] Inn was WORSE than my childhood bed! The room was spacious, clean, double sinks, the shower was huge and the highlight? A heated toilet seat! The hotel grounds are beautiful. The pool area was amazing! The food in the restaurant was fabulous! We stayed during the week and the cafe was packed! Seems the locals enjoy the food too! I will definitely go back the the restaurant. The avacado salad itself would be worth the drive from LA to SLO! The service was really friendly.
