"Good value"
This was a pleasant little hotel in "downtown" Manzanita. It is not fancy and a bit old but what you would expect from a small, beach front town. The refrigerator and microwave in the room were convenient and there are free movies at the desk. For the price it was a clean, comfortable room and place to overnight. Several nice shops, eateries, a bakery, coffee houses, and the beach within easy walking distance.

"Our new favorite..."
The Spindrift Inn is a great motel--I think the only reason we hadn't stayed there before is that it tends to be booked. In addition to the friendly service, clean rooms, and great location, the motel is run by people who obviously care about the details: the rooms are comfortable and stocked with nice-quality shampoo, soap and lotion; there's hot chocolate mix, tea, and coffee at your disposal. It rained all weekend, so we spent a lot of time in our room, and we really enjoyed ourselves. Thank you!

"Charming or Old?"
The room was clean and comfortable, but antiquated, or charming, depending on your mood. The electrical outlet was a strip plug. The coffee pot dribbled when poured, and leaked into the area of the strip plug. The bathroom ventilation was just a small window that opened onto a service hallway.

"Charming older motel in a great location."
This is an older hotel without frills, but it is adequate in every respect. The room was clean, the bed comfortable. The location is excellent, an honest block from the beach with a restaurant just around the corner. It is in downtown Manzanita in walking distance of everything Manzanita has to offer.

"Charming!!!!!"
We loved our stay at this very charming little place! The room felt like a little beach cottage, and was very comfortable. We discovered a surprise when we opened a door at the back of the room... a tiny and lovely little courtyard that all the rooms opened onto! The owner was wonderful and so very helpful. The location is nice. There are a few shops and restaurants up and down the street, and it is a reasonable walk to the beach. We would love to come back!

"Great location but need a primer on hospitality"
I'd stayed at Spindrift Inn in May and had a fine time. The hotel is old, but clean and simple and quiet which is what most should be in my opinion. So this last week I sent my mother-in-law and daughter there for an overnight together at the beach. They got there about 30-40 minutes ahead of check-in time and were unable to check-in, which is fine, but the person at the front desk refused to let my 5 year-old use the bathroom after an hour and a half in the car. So immediately hey're not feeling super welcome. Then, when checking out the next day after a fine night, my mother-in-law was greeted by another person at the front desk with "what do you need?". My mother-in-law said "we're guests here," to which the response was once again, "what do you need?" I'm not sure what the word hospitality means to these two employees (hopefully not an owner!), but they certainly need a crash course ASAP as their attitudes did much to spoil what could have been a great hotel experience.

"Great hotel for a beach-loving family"
This hotel is in an old, well-maintained building, and eveything is "dated". Ideal for a family that wants to spend a few days at the beach, cook their own meals and just 'hang out'. It is not a good place to stay for just an overnight for a single or couple. No need for a full kitchen. Too expensive for just a hotel room need.

"Overpriced room!"
The room we stayed in was very small. No air conditioning and no windows. The only windows in that room are the French doors. Felt very claustrophobic. The ceiling above the shower was covered in small dead flies. Very disgusting. The bed was small too, maybe a twin size, so it was hard to sleep. Thankfully this was only for one night. I have no intentions coming back to that hole in the wall.

"Close to the Beach"
We stayed in a standard room which was ok for us. The internet was very slow and pillows smelled really bad so I had to sleep without pillows.... You can walk to the beach from the motel which is really nice. There are restaurants and cafes around the area, so I guess it is pretty convenient place to stay.

"Great Location - Could Use Some TLC"
The location is perfect. It is right in the middle of everything, you won't have to drive at all. Walk right down to the beach, out to eat, shopping, etc. Also the parking is great - you get to parallel park right in front of your room. The Inn is all one story high with exterior access to your room. You can hear the ocean waves crashing in the distance at night. Overall, it was a great stay for our family. However, all I could think of as I looked around was the amazing potential! The Inn was built in the 40's and pretty much everything was Jerry-rigged, modified, "fixed", and "updated" as cheaply as possible. For example, the front door knob was installed too close to the edge of the door and smashed my finger whenever I closed the door. The bathroom door only only had trim on half of it. The kitchenette light fixture probably cost them $3. I would have had the ugly ceiling popcorn removed. The mattresses are very uncomfortable!! There was no bathroom fan. Instead there is a bathroom window, which opens into the courtyard. The courtyard is about 8' wide x 30' long. All the rooms open into the courtyard and it is nicely landscaped with flowers, has a path down the middle and chairs along the sides. The idea is nice but there is a terrible flaw. We started calling the courtyard "sewage alley" because, literally, all the bathroom windows open into the narrow corridor. You can imagine. But the staff was very friendly and helpful. We would stay there again.

"Abandoned"
This is a quirky litte motel which was pleasant enough but the check in closed a 6pm. After that you were stuck if you had a problem as there was no one on site, no phone in the room and no contact details if you needed any help. No information of any kind in the room. We were the only people staying on the first of our two nights. Once the receptionist had gone that was it if we had a problem (which fortunately we didn't). Not many places to eat and the three different people we saw on the reception desk whilst we were there were friendly enough but not up to speed on the answers to (basic) questions.

"Wonderful place to stay with a history"
The owners of Spindrift are great - they made it worry-free for us when we had to check in late. There was a lot of room for our family of 5 to stay & a big bathroom. This Inn has been in business since right after WWII, so to say that it is quite old, but so clean & comfortable, is amazing. It's within 50 paces of the beach. We wanted to stay a second night, but unfortunately they were booked up & I can see why!

"Lovely motel in great location."
We stayed here for one night on a road trip from Seattle to San Diego. We had a long day driving and arrived quite late but were still greeted by the owner. The room was huge with two big double beds, a seating area with chairs and table, fridge, coffee maker and microwave. The room was really well maintained and decorated in a light and bright seaside style. Everything was spotless especially the bathroom and there were lots of lovely white towels and a nice selection of toiletries and extras such as cotton pads and sewing kit. A really nice touch. The shower is probably the best shower I have ever used! There was plenty of coffee and even hot chocolate! The motel is right near the beach and across the road from a great lively pub where we had dinner. We wished we had stayed longer at the Spindrift in Manzanita. We will definitely stay there if we are in Manzanita again.

"Pleasant stay"
07/09/15 Bremerton_WAMeh Bremerton, WA
Efficient check in upon arrival with great recommendations for eating in Manzanita and nearby. Not fancy but clean with good bedding and mattress. Excellent free wifi and TV reception. We would stay again for one nite. If we were staying longer would want a bit more space to sit and a more comfortable couch and additional easy chair. Beach a block away which is a plus and it was quiet at night. The little courtyard is in need of a bit of landscaping. The toilet is the very low style and difficult for older visitors.

"Good, basic beach room for kids and dogs."
05/27/15 Katy1400 New York
Absolutely nothing fancy about this place. It's an old fashioned motel built and decorated to stand up to kids, a pet, and the sand and water that will be tracked in. Rooms are small, everything was clean, no smells at all in our pet friendly room, and the location is just a block from the beach. (No views.) It is totally average and totally acceptable for what it is. We took what we could find for 1 night on Memorial Day weekend, but $185 for such no-frills accommodation seemed a bit steep.

"Great Location"
05/26/15 Leesab23 Hillsboro, Oregon
This is a great location for in town Manzanita. Close to the Sanddune pub which is good and bad, can be loud at night from music, but just bring earplugs or go listen! We did both. It's a short block to beach, close to a great pizza place and coffee place right next to it. I'm giving it 3 stars because the bed was pretty hard and oddly shaped that made it difficult to sleep, fine for one night but more than two might leave you uncomfortable. Did appreciate the taffy and kitchen in our room. We did not get to meet Bob in person, we met someone new and when calling back and forth I left a message while traveling and instead of listening to the message before hand they called me immediately back and therefore it defeated my call in the first place. This happened a couple of times and was a little frustrating. We will be coming back and rooming with friends for a special event so maybe we will get a room with a better bed this next time, other than that a clean, nice place.

We recently stayed here to celebrate our daughter's birthday. It was such as cute room and very comfortable. The beds were amazing and it was nice tho have a kitchenette for making food. Loved having salt water taffy available in our room and at the front desk. Bob was very helpful with getting videos for the kids and with suggestions for places to eat. The location was excellent, close to beach and town. Definitely will be back!

Found this gem on Trip Advisor and it was every bit as good as all the reviews say. One block to the beach, walking distance to good eats and shops. The room we had was a 2 bed room, and decorated so cute. We enjoyed some time in the little courtyard garden. Bob, the owner, was full of great information. Thanks for the recommendation for Kelly's Brighton Marina for live crab and oysters. We had a great time and we will be back!

Super clean. Very comfortable. Free high-speed Wi-Fi. The most friendly inn keeper that I have ever met! One very short block to the beach. There is a smallish central garden courtyard area with lovely flowers. The only draw back is the parking lot view from the front entry. Drive 2 miles south to Nehalem for a delicious breakfast or lunch at Wanda's Café.

"Quirky style with pleasant unexpected surprises"
05/08/15 JonnyCakes77 Portland, Oregon
For what seems like a former motor inn, the structure is a curious throw back, decorated in the French Provencal colors of yellow and lavender, with modern accents, like the curved glass shelves in the bathrooms. Rooms and bathrooms are very large. The "courtyard" is more like a gardened central pathway, with ridiculously comfortable wood benches on which to sip your really good in room coffee (I almost asked for more!). Strangely, the beds are more comfortable than the mattresses at a Westin (I've stayed there and have one myself).

"Great oregon coast experience"
05/06/15 Frank B
Realistically, this is a 2.5 star motel, but we had a five star experience. Spindrift could have been a small studio apartment complex at one time. Presently it is a 1960-ish motel in a cute little town on a quiet part of the Oregon coast. We stayed for three days. Management was very helpful. Our room was dated but clean and spacious. We had a great rate and would return gladly.

Were here in the off season so not much going on in town but that's the way we wanted it. The place was clean, comfortable and quiet. Nothing fancy, just what we needed. Close to the beach and the local restaurants. We were in room 9 which is the only room facing the street on the back side of the hotel and it was quiet. Checked in just in time (by 6pm) so didn't get to talk much to the front desk but I'm sure they were very nice.
