The Claremont Hotel - Douglas

The Claremont Hotel has recently been renovated and I can say very very well! We booked an executive room and couldn't fault it, the bed was a nice new memory foam, plenty of wardrobe and drawer space, a large plasma tv with blue ray player and an ipod station. Lovely large wet room with double sink. We had a nice surprise when returning to our room […] at night and finding our beds had been turned down and 2 boxes of chocolates left on the pillow, really nice touch. We ordered breakfast in our room the following morning which only cost an extra £3, well worth it for breakfast in bed! We had the usual full english, toast and coffee and it was all hot (even the toast) on arrival at our room at the exact time we'd booked it. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would go again! Really good location, opposite the bay/promenade, and close by to the sea terminal and shopping area with plenty of restaurants. Room was comfortable and fine for what I needed. Appreciated the free wi-fi. Hotel was undergoing building work during my stay but was not inconvenienced by it. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast downstairs was good […] and lots of choice. My one complaint was the room service breakfast was poor. The tea pot had no hot water in it, and no milk in the jug, toast was cold. They took the metal cover away that could have at least kept my hot food hot while I ate the other items. I put this on a comments card which was taken by the maid during my stay but not acted upon. Only inconvenience was that the reception is being remodelled so might be some noise in the day but I was out so never noticed. Room was small but clean with a decent sized bathroom and nice toileteries - view of rear courtyard not great but again I never booked for the view! Staff were welcoming, attentive and helpful at all hours. Room comfortable though would have liked a room thermostat to reduce heating a little. Lovely breakfast. Good location. Parking a bit of a problem.

this hotel provided exactly what it said in the brochure - but it was disappointing because we were on the 3rd floor, and 1 all the floors sloped across the width of the room, and 2 the only way to see the view was to stand up. When I arrived at the room allocated it had not been cleaned: bed slept in, rubbish in bin, used coffee cups etc. When I went downstairs to reception to tell them, I was promptly moved to another room - apparently a communication issue.
